It's amazing how one moment can completely transform your mood! A comfortable(ish) lead turned into a 2-1 loss would have ruined the weekend. Then one shot and it's all wonderful again! When you see Solly's goals you wonder why he doesn't shoot more often, as it's not as if he regularly sends the ball flying into the crowd when shooting.
A funny performance, I do feel that even allowing for our injuries that our squad is slightly unbalanced, and the formation didn't work defensively as while Reeves provided good cover for Solly, on the left we looked very vulnerable. Page had a poor game, but the lack of protection certainly didn't help. Add to that his injury issues, and the complete lack of LB/CB cover we have at the moment. Ward is a good player, but given the budget restrictions maybe another defender (a LB/CB type player) might have been more useful to the squad, especially with Clarke to come back.
Igor worked hard and did some great defensive work, but was pretty anonymous as an attacking threat.
25 years since I was last at Kenilworth Road (two 1-0 defeats in 1993) and the ground is still a dump. The Luton stadium sage rolls on, it's bizarre that a club like MKD with no fans and history have an impressive and modern stadium, whereas Luton are still stuck in that poky sh*thole.6 -

Would love to have gone today but at a great wedding of a cracking friend instead. Saw ee had taken the lead on the phone, then saw we were 2-1 down. But if I could have written the script, Solly at the end would have been it.
Absolute legend of a player for us, fucking awesome. He genuinely could never get enough praise.
Read some nonsense about him across forums and social media not being good enough any more. Absolutely delighted for the lad.10 -
Can anyone explain exactly what Lapslie did to get booked? Watched on iFollow and it's not clear. You just see him semi- falling over the advertising hoardings and then when the camera catches up with him he's climbing back out and getting booked.0

I must have fallen asleep around the 70min mark, was shatterd after getting a 2AM flight on friday, wasn't surprised to see we didn't hold but but seems a draw was a fair result.0

Aribo, Reeves, Fosu, (and to a lesser extent) Taylor, should all be reminded that skillful as they may be - best way to create space is one touch football.0

Pretty spot on assessment for me, that. I watched on iFollow with the same said commentator and I felt, as far as home commentators go, he was pretty impartial. Lee, Mpanzu and Shinnie all had good games and posed their greatest threat; particularly Lee down their right in the first half.Fanny Fanackapan said:

We absolutely dominated them for about 25 minutes in the second half and should have been winning comfortably.
But as I said to my mate's all the while it remains 1.0 it can all go wrong.
When Luton equalised I thought it was totally against the run of play and when they took the lead I just thought bollox.
But the last five minutes of the game we hit the crossbar twice and had one cleared of the line.
And then along came super Solly to equalise.
The Charlton supporters who I thought had been great throughout went mental and justice had been done.
Bowyer now has options from the bench and it was lovely to see Fosu and Vetokele back playing.
Lastly Luton is a soulless shithole and their supporters are tossers.
I'm not sure what match was broadcast on i player.
The names of Lee, Mpanzu & Shinnie were hardly ever off his tongue whilst there were times when I wondered if Igor or Reeves for instance were still on the pitch.
Of course, I could hear that we had our moments but, especially in the first half, it sounded as though we were sitting back a little and then trying to catch them on the break, especially after we scored from the pen.
This may be a totally inaccurate perception but I can only speak from what I heard.
Now, had I been able to access ifollow's visual coverage, it could have been a different story....
The reason you didn't hear the names of Reeves and Vetokele mentioned a lot is because they were both pretty anonymous, although the latter's work rate was impressive.
As for Reeves, when the going gets tough and he's closed down, he tends to go MIA. He's a playmaker who needs time and space on the ball. A good example is the chance he missed in the first half. It came to his right foot and rather than just swing at it from 8 yards out he tried to put it onto his left peg when there was simply not enough time or space to do that; he should have just hit it (in his defence though, he had a more difficult chance in the second half that he did well with, probably because it was on his left foot).
Luton were no mugs that's for sure. Their two goals came at a time when they were really pushing, with the second almost inevitable (I was messaging my boy 'anytime now' when they actually scored it). However, a defeat would have been a travesty and the equaliser was no more than we deserved. A couple of posts have also mentioned the pull back on Taylor's shirt in the penalty area just before we equalised. Absolutely 100% a penalty but the ref bottled it. The ironic thing is, the very same thing happened just outside the box about a minute later and the ref gave a free kick. This of course led to the chain of events that culminated in our deserved equaliser.
Not many teams will go there and win this season. All in all, a draw was a good result and from a balanced viewpoint, probably about right.5 - Sponsored links:

Thought we were fairly anonymous first half, their goalie had very little to do, and we hardly threatened at all. Second half we seemed to pick it up for first 15/20, and could maybe have scored that elusive second that we always seem to struggle to score at 1-0, then Luton picked it up for 15/20, and both goals seemed inevitable as they were putting the pressure on . Then just a crazy last 5 - how often do you see 2 hit the bar, one off the line, and a goal all in extra-time ?
Thought Pearce was more at fault than Sarr for their first goal tbh.1 -
I thought before the game we had a bit of momentum going and were going to win 2-0.
Taking the highlights at face value, Steer looked a bit rash rushing off his line for one of their goals, overall did he have a good performance, I’m still not won over by him.0 -

a good point on the road (who wrote that?) and another tough game on Tuesday .. some of our immediate top six rivals have tough ones as well, Posh at Sunderland, Pompey at Coventry, Doncaster at Accrington .. a win could see us gain more ground on the top slots .. here's hoping .. BUT a point will still do quite nicely1

So pleased for Solly,in the past he has taken loads of stick about being past it,too slow,but never once .when things were not going so well for him,has he hidden.Even without this goal,he is having a blinding season,and is proving all the doubters wrong.12

The point is that post-Fleetwood we have been scoring more than two goals a game. I don’t think it’s an accident. It’s more likely to do with the extra players available in midfield. If you discount the first five matches (four goals) the scoring ratio is fine.Scoham said:

Luton were no mugs but the goals we conceded looked awful, albeit from low down the other end of the ground so it wasn't easy to see exactly what happened.
When we hit the bar twice and had one cleared off the line, it felt like being one of those days but full marks to everyone for keeping going to the death.1 -
Solly is definitely playing much better so far this season than he was for most of the last, which I think is at least partially due to Bowyer vs. The Gob. Fair enough. Earlier on in the season I felt our midfield was lacking something. There’s a better balance now and they’re more threatening going forward.Airman Brown said:

Harsh to blame Pearce to the goal, as defenders will lose some headers, it's about how the other players react to the second ball. Was the line too high, were the other defenders a bit flat footed, did Steer come out when he should have stayed back?Lincsaddick said:
