Forget the grim reaper for a moment, but if Roland Duchatelet is looking to retire soon and hand over to Roderick, wouldn't it be an idea to create an amicable relationship with Roderick and his siblings so Thomas Sandgaard can have a smooth purchase of Sparrows lane and the Valley ? Interesting if Thomas Sandgaard finds a business partner or partners to achieve this aim.
Would his Children ( not Cafc fans !) Be easier to deal with ?

Is it possible to never own the stadium or training ground, and progress in England ?

Which other Premier and Championship clubs don't own their stadium or training ground ?

Didn't Ron Noads at Palace and Peter Ridsdale at Leeds keep their grounds when they sold up?

If he croaks it could lead to untold complications, who inherits his estate which includes The Valley and The Training Ground?

Ah that’s nice, they should get something.
Their inheritance tax will be no laughing matter

Without a shadow of a doubt - and by some margin.

We could spray paint nice things about them on buildings
We tried to reach Roderick. It was suggested by Hungarians, particularly @DJGabyG on Twitter. Good guy. He set up a dialogue initially with Roderick’s partner, whose name I forget, and she was pretty positive. However then it went dead, and it seems that she and Roderick split up. Might be worth another go, though.

I doubt that De Turck will have any meaningful say in the operation of these UK companies, which don't actually do anything except own the assets and collect the rent. It's just that making him a director will mean he can do things required by English law to be done by a director that RD would otherwise have to do himself and in case he ceases to be available for whatever reason. Since Murray quit them in December 2020, RD had been the only director.

But interesting that he was only appointed now, rather than when Murray came off the board, TS bought the club a year ago, or when ESI bought the club nearly 2 years ago

As pointed out above, RD is 75 this weekend. He's always had a view about that. He had Murray in place for a year after ESI took over, too.

Isn’t it a bit odd though. If this is a succession plan, and Roderick is next in line, why not make him a director.

Maybe he's been cut out of the will and two sheds is leaving it all to his favourite 'niece'!

Probably because it's just an admin thing.

Maybe he’s still got Meire advising him…

Given all that's gone on with our club over the years it amazes me that people still don't really know the difference between a "director" and a "shareholder".

You can be both, of course, but being a director doesn't automatically mean you have any ownership interests in a company or have any major say in what actually goes on.
