All I care about is winning. In a heartbeat. The best striker since Bent.
Yann was better
Was he? Or is that sentimentality talking? Lyle was a better goalscorer than Yann quite comfortably.
Yann technically was a class above
He was never a League One player, we got lucky having someone as sensible as Peter Varney doing the negotiations, when we went to the Championship he proved he could do it at that level, shown as well with Bournemouth and Reading.
Lyle has had more of a career in the lower leagues, would question if last year was a flash in the pan year with us because he was at a club he was comfortable at (as he's proven that he's struggled apart from Wimbledon and Charlton), would question if League One is his primary level
Both talismanic for us but Yann was a better all round player IMO. He's proved it consistently in the Championship. Lyle has had half a good season in the championship so far and with Murray joining I can't see that improving for him this season.
The bloke turned his back on our club and was a huge factor in why we got relegated.
Any Charlton fan saying they still love him, or want him back at our club, should be embarrassed of themselves. So weird.
He’d be a lot better than our current strikers.
To put it like this, I had a girlfriend once who was an absolute freak in the bedroom who left me satisfied beyond my wildest dreams. However she had no sense of loyalty and eventually left me for a lad who drove a Sierra Cosworth. I had an Austin Metro at the time. Mrs AUN, whilst still very adept in her skills is not as bedroom orientated but so very loyal and devoted to the cause of our marriage and I adore her for it. If that girl from many moons ago came knocking on my door now I would tell her to f*** right off. That’s how we should treat Taylor. He had his chance and he messed it up.
Not a fan of Taylor since he left us high and dry last season, but, as it's has been mentioned as a hypothetical scenario of "would you have him back on loan" i was just wondering IF that happened, and he started banging in the goals to see us up or playoffs, the mood could probably change very quickly, and memories fade just as quick?
No.

Football is also not just a results business. People move on and it's best to keep it going in the right direction. He wouldn't fit in, in the dressing room.
Return of old ex players never really goes well...apart from Chris Powell's occasional casual return!
Yann Kermorgant was an all round footballer. A workaholic with great commitment and a physically intimidating character for opponents. They would always have to prepare for his presence and it would change the game.
He earned his money and wore his heart on his sleeve.
Chris Powell got the best out of him.
Crazy to think our title winning 11/12 season is now close to being 10 years ago.
Its probably been mentioned before all the mystifying Yann Kermogant and Lyle Taylor comparisons. Glen Murray is loaned to Nottingham Forest. It looks like it may be an achievement for Taylor to be on the bench. It wouldn't surprise me if Forest attempted to move Taylor on at the end of the season for a fee. They would at least recoup some of the wages.
On Kermogant / Taylor comparison, whilst a good striker, Taylor contributing to one good promotion season. He was then injured and didn't fulfill his contract and contributed to Charlton being relegated. One or two goals and a point would have seen Charlton safe.
Yann Kermogant is a total legend & top character. Yann was a fighter, a fine striker of the ball and scored so many great goals. Lyle Taylor is clearly not fit to clean Yann Kermogant's boots.
Yann 32 goals in 96 games, with 12 in 39 in L1 and 20 in 57 at Championship level (including cups)
Lyle 36 goals in 67 games, with 25 in 45 in L1 and 11 in 22 at Championship level (including cups)
Of course goal stats aren't everything, but we shouldn't rewrite history either
Lyle did get at least 12 penalties which of course can be missed but do distort the figures.
Wasn't Yann a penalty taker? Or did JJ still have his legs back then?
Don’t think he was too keen after (ahem) an incident at Leicester
He scored two for us in his time with us. Not sure how many he took. Hopefully two. The Leicester incident was hilarious and appeared to be the only reason we got him so cheap.
Anyone even mentioning yann and Taylor in the same sentence needs their head checked... That's not even remotely sentimental. Taylor was class but yann was the best we've had since bent. Imagine Yann and Darren Bent up top!

in their prime they'd have made one hell of a partnership I reckon

I doubt he's worried right now.
