I think the ship has sailed with Brentford. Especially if you believe reports they're on the verge of signing Toney from Peterborough.
Agreed. I think Brentford saw Taylor as some quick temporary assistance around the first time of looking to buy, he was never seen as a forward to build a team around or be the main guy (and his ego needs to be number one). For that reason, very much doubt they’re looking at him now.
  • Well Brentford didn't do too bad without him, managed to score a few goals too.

He may have played his cards wrong, the worst time to enter the free agent market since the Bosman ruling 30 years ago. He’ll get a deal, maybe at a decent club, but it’ll be significantly less than he thought he’d get a few months ago when he Judas’d us.
When he refused to play, I thought he had some secret pre-contract agreement sorted out that couldn't be publicised because the other club's approach would have been outside the rules. I was thinking probably a non-English club; perhaps Rangers or Galatasaray or some similar big fish/small pond type outfit. Perhaps he did, but the longer it goes without an announcement the less likely it looks, unless they are playing a very careful cover-up game. Without such an agreement, it looks very much like he's played his cards wrong. Nobody wants a coward or a turncoat leading their line, or even warming their subs bench.
  • So I thought I would type his name into twitter to see if there were any rumours and I saw 2 forest fans arguing about him, this one made me laugh acting like forest are a massive club, I love when he says he wouldn't dare refuse to play for them 🤣🤣

I can’t work out from Josh’s second post whether Taylor would or wouldn’t refuse to play.
He will suit NFFC.....Taylor's a bottler just like NFFC bottled out the last game of the season....FFS 1-4 at home

  • Posted this on the SPL thread.  My view in Taylor playing for the old firm.

Big difference in class between Edouard and Taylor. Plus Edouard to the best of my knowledge isn’t a git.   Morellos is a weapons grade git but a different player to Taylor and, despite his gitness, I Suspect a class above too.  Taylor playing for the old firm would be an interesting concept. He would get kicked shitless which would be one small consolation I suppose.

Will probably pick up an injury as soon as he returns.

    I hope so.
  • Did he get paid his last months wages after refusing to play ?

Yeah it’s weird that nothing has been announced, don’t think it’s either Glasgow team as the season started this weekend (although if Morelos or Edouard are sold that could change things).

  • Personally, I think he's a Cnut who's got a chronic case of bipolar. Great to have on the pitch, but I d probably want to knock his block off away from it.
  • The Scottish season has already started so he might have missed the boat
  • Not much of a boat to miss though.

I actually liked the cut of his jib when he said he didn't particularly like football, didn't support a team and that he just concentrated on scoring goals.

However, I'm now inclined to think that was just attention seeking bollocks like nearly everything else he says.
This i see the interview when he said this and how he dont watch football its a job to him blah bah then would see him tweeting about live games going on.
  • Lyle seemed very definite that he had a life changing move lined up, so it is quite surprising that nothing has happened yet
Arrogance can often make people seem assured.

Being unemployed is life changing. Long may it continue Lyle (it won’t)

Its a bit weird isnt it? The whole 'i cant risk getting injured' line is looking a bit billy bullshit now. Weasel.
  • pretty sure if he did have a 'life changing' move already lined up, he (and the club in question) would be shouting from the rooftops about it now...

As many people have said, i'm sure a deal in principle a few months ago, may well have changed because of Covid. Clubs everywhere are reducing budgets and not knowing when fans can return to games won't help either. Even giant clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid are saying they can't afford to spend much this summer.

If we assume he's going to a Championship club then unless you're a team who's just been relegated and have parachute payments then you're probably re-evaluating your summer transfers. Suddenly that 20k a week offer to a 30 year striker with a poor recent injury record might not seem such a great deal.

I'm sure he'll be ok though. It's not as if he won't get a deal somewhere.

He did say in the podcast interview (right before the restart) that no one had been talking to each other, he meant in the sense of Agents / Clubs

Wasnt sure if I believed him at the time and did make me hope that he'd play seeing there was no certainty over him getting a better move if he did leave

Seems that could well be the case now

    Oh well
  • The season finished less than 2 weeks ago. Keep in mind there were a lot of clubs still battling to go up/stay up right up to the wire.

The season doesn’t start for another 5-6 weeks, and the window doesn’t close until October. He will get something.

Nobody is saying he won't. Just that it looked like he was getting this big move which has gone very quiet. I think fans are understandably hoping it all falls through for him. I'm sure we all know he will get a club, just hopefully not the one he wanted.
  • PV and AB ride into town as shining knights, buy Ivan Toney and slap in front of him a contract they would've dangled in front of Lyle......

    *wakes up*

It's 5 weeks since he left us (30th June). He's not played since March so will need a proper pre season unlike the players who played the 9 games and thus will be far more ready to resume in September.

Doesn't sign for anyone... LOL That's what you get for being a disloyal TWIT.
  • As has been said before, Taylor could have left us with his head held high and at least partially with the best wishes of the fans if he had seen his contract through to the end.

He clearly doesn't give a shit what we think of him, having forever joined the ranks of Parker and Murphy et al.

My guess is that had he signed a contract way back, he would have been more happy about seeing the season to its conclusion, retaining his honour, reputation and great memories of his time here.

It only makes sense to burn his bridges if he had no contract in place. Ironically, this suggests to prospective employers that he must think his body is fragile and he has no scruples. I hope that bites him in the bum.
