hard facts are that all the fan love in the world in 10 years time isn't gonna be paying his mortgage or bills .... but turning his back on us in our hour of need to get that contract might ....
He wouldn’t have refused to play in mid March under normal circumstances so why now,it’s no different. Disappointed with Solly too, Club captain, testimonial year etc.........
A very poor way for Solly to end his career with us. Realistically he wouldn't have had to play much, and it's very disappointing that players with far weaker connections to the club are prepared to return and he isn't
I don't blame Davis so much. Life for a short term loan player can't be much fun away from home, especially in the current situation and he may not want to be away from his family. Indeed I'm REALLY impressed with Hemed coming back from Israel as he had a very good excuse for not returning.
Key workers going to work everyday, risking their lives for minimal pay, and Taylor won’t even play a few games of football
Couldn’t agree more. As the Matron of an ICU, I have had to watch my team deliver the most extraordinary care over the last few months despite emotional, mental and physical exhaustion. Shame they didn’t have the option of saying they didn’t fancy it like Lyle. Teamwork and loyalty is worth more than any money. Footballers would do well to remember that sometimes.
What we have to do is separate our loyalty to our team and the loyalty of players. The best you can get is a player that builds an affection to a side, like Chris Powell, but they will never love that side like we do. To them, they have a career and have to achieve the best they can in that career. If we expect more, we will ultimately be disapointed.
I wouldn't want to play him if he was more interested in avoiding injury. His game requires full commitment. Yes, fine him to recoup some wages by all means, but that is all we can do. We need to stay up using players committed to the cause. We need to forget about Taylor.
No doubt we have all made career moves for personal gain in the past but in doing so would have seen out the existing contract before moving on. This is what Taylor should do and if he did play those 2 or 3 games until 30 June then more of us maybe more understanding.
Lyle was always going to leave, I know I’m going to get pelters for this, but with all that’s going on in the world at the moment and having known 4 people taken, in just meh whatever, it’s not important in the scheme of things.
Pre Covid I’d probably be spitting feathers, starting threads galore, and up in arms, I just feel lucky to still be around at the moment.
Doing an ooh ah, yes we’ve probably got a 90% chance of being relegated without Lyle, of course I’d rather have him playing for us, but in really not surprised, or bothered as much as I used to be.
Wembley May 2019, seems a long way away, even if I did miss Bauer’s goal by drinking too much in the green man!
Don’t get too stressed out by this people, we’ve always been a selling club, players come and go, don’t get too attached to them, its their career and living, don’t give them abuse, we’re better than that.
As disappointed as I am, I won't be condemning anyone for not playing. We know the club is in an absolute mess, but we don't know everything that's gone on being the scenes. If it was a well run club I'd feel a lot angrier about it but as we appear to have been overrun by a confederacy of crooks I can't blame anyone for cutting loose.
I don't blame him! Like others have said would he have sat out April and May in a normal season. He's paiid to play football albeit up until the end of June. Should not be training with us or being paid if he aint going play
So he’s still contracted till the 30th but won’t play between the 20th & 30th ? Surely he’ll be breaching his contract ?
You can't force a player to play during a pandemic.
But that isn't his reason for not playing. I suppose he is being honest and could have lied and said he didn't want to play because of the risk of catching the virus
Isn't the Hull game the next one? A 6-pointer if there ever was one. Even if he could just play that I'd be less angry, let alone until the end of his contract. So the season would have finished in May ordinarily and he was more than happy to be under contract (i.e. be paid) up until then end of June for a further month. Now there is the need to play in June he doesn't want to do the job he is actually paid for! Have been a fan of his, but am mightily pissed of by this.

Doesnt he have the right to be training seeing we're his latest club?
Only say that because Roger Johnson was allowed to train @ Sparrows Lane before he joined Bromley when out of contract

99% of us would do exactly the same as Lyle's doing, were we in the same situation. It’s a profession after all.
Still gutted though.
No they wouldn't - not if they were in a 'profession' and being 'professional'.
I'm sorry Bob but being in the profession of football I do think that 99% of us would do the same. I have to say that listening to the responses of so many "fans" over the last 12 hours has been like listening to the whining of a 14 year old boy just dumped by his first girlfriend. "But she told me that she loved me!!"

I mean all this shit about loyalty , bullshit, they all do what suits them not us the wanky fans

Does he fancy a crack at the Premier league maybe ..
Or a top Championship club going for promotion in his mind.
Otherwise it won't be much of a step up..
