"We have shown we can beat anybody this season. We just need to make sure we're ready. There's no one I'm afraid of. I believe in the squad that I have.”
Just not Sunderland, Coventry, Fleetwood, Peterborough, Blackpool and Oxford
He did not use the past tense.
Yes he did. Have shown is the past perfect.
Sorry to correct you, but it’s present perfect and that is functionally different from the past simple/past tense I.e. it is used here to describe something that started in the past, but continues into the present, whereas past simple “we showed” would be used to describe something that started and finished in the past
Come on Siv, you're better than that.
"We showed"?!
The proper past tense round here (even in the posh parts of the county) is "we shew" ...
LB: “We’ve got a one-goal lead and in a good position, but we have to respect the opposition because they have good players that can hurt us. We can’t afford to take our foot off the pedal.” #cafc
LB: “We were disappointed they got that late goal, but they were playing at home so you expect them to create chances and I felt we did well to limit those. If the cross wasn’t deflected, we would have defended it.” #cafc
LB: “We’re a good side at home and they have to score so they have to come at us at some stage. I’ve drummed into the players what we want to achieve. They know they’re close to taking one step closer so they won’t need reminding.” #cafc
LB: “We’re selling out The Valley and taking some of the away end as well and that shows how far we’ve come in such a short period of time. I wanted people to enjoy it and join us on this journey that we’re on and I’m delighted.” #cafc
LB: “A lot of the players might not have played in front of that many people before. But when we’ve had big games like Portsmouth or Luton the place was bouncing, so it’s going to be electric. The young players will be fine. They’re fearless. #cafc
LB: “If we get there, it’s nowhere near done yet. I’ve been in the game long enough to know that there will be twists and turns. If we can get to Wembley and get ourselves up, it will be up there amongst the biggest achievements in my career.” #cafc
LB: “Since I’ve been in charge, The Valley has been a special place. We’ve lost two games at home this season and I don’t think we should’ve lost either of them." #cafc
LB: "Our fans have been great, the atmosphere has increased game by game and the fans and the players bounce off each other.” #cafc
LB: “We’re a League One club and we’ve sold out. There’s not many clubs at that level that can do that. For me, this club should never be in League One, which is why we’re working so hard to get up. The potential of this club is massive. Everything is there.” #cafc
LB: “Everyone came through on Sunday. Igor is still out, but hopefully we can get through this stage and he might be OK. Josh Parker had cramp so he’s fine.” #cafc
LB on Josh Parker: “Fans want you to give 100 per cent and work as hard as you can and that’s the same for every fan up and down the country. It’s only a matter of time before he scores." #cafc
LB "He deserved his standing ovation and they appreciated and saw the effort he put in. He’s getting better and better.” #cafc
LB on @JedSteer: “I’m over the moon for Jed. He came to us, worked hard every day and I think Andy Marshall improved him. His professionalism was outstanding and hard work is always rewarded. We wish him all the best in the final.” #cafc
The Igor comment is very interesting. I did say in the Igor thread that they may have decided as a collective that the warm weather and time with his family could aid his recovery.
We shall see. But it’s encouraging for Bows to even mention there could be a possibility he will be OK if we make the final.
That last tweet highlights the something I noticed... There was a good amount of bickering vs Villa. Think these lads need some time to bond and become a solid group of players that fight FOR each other and share blame for mistakes...
bows sounds like a broken man yet again let down by this cretin of an owner, in fairness he knows what he is like so the sympathy can only go so far, season is 2 days away and we already sound like were done and dusted, we have 2 strikers and one of them was national league last year, cardiff and fulham are buying players double the entire value of our squad.
granted last year we weren't expected to go well but most would of agreed that playoffs minimum was our aim.
he mentions we need 5 players in, i just dont know what sort of qaulity they are going to be.
Need 5 in. Wasn’t it 7 last time he spoke and i don’t think we have got anyone in since then. We have 18. He wants to loan out Morgan = 17 + 5 = 22. So 2 for each position I guess (as long as Dijksteel is still here which i doubt) but no kids behind that to gap fill for injuries as they are either already sold or included in that 22. The others are not close to ready are they?
I am not suprised he isn't seeing any of the Lookman money. Roland is screwing us in every way. Happy to screw for any money he can get out of us. Oh how honourable you are Rolan paying staff and players their wages. Does that make you a better owner than Bolton? It is something you have to anyway. You are contracted to do as an owner.
djiksteel - not for sale translates to if the price is right - i wouldn't mind offloading him IF the funds in there entirety were given to lee and Steve to spend - but we all know crusty wont permit that and will continue to blame ze efl for him owning a football cloob

If he's not giving Bowyer any money from the Lookman sell on, then he's unlikely to get any Dijksteel money either.
Actually amazes me that he somehow sanctioned the transfer fee for Bonne.
LB: “We’ve two out with hamstring injuries. Sometimes you do pick up those injuries in pre-season because they get pushed to the limits. Chuks Aneke will just miss this game, so we should have him back for the next one. LB: “The reality is that our budget is the lowest in the league, but I know the situation. Our problem is that we’re competing with teams in the Championship, but we can’t compete with them and we’re also competing with the top League One side.” LB: “The togetherness we had in the dressing room was a big part of why we got promoted. It’s going to have to be the same this year. Our aim is to stay in the division. We have an advantage because we’ve got a great bunch of lads who fight to win & hurt when they lose.” LB: “Middlesbrough came in for Dijksteel and the owner said he’s not for sale. They came in with another bid and now Bristol City are in for him as well. It shows how good the work we’re doing here with the young players is. Bielik looks like he’s going for £10m! LB: “It’s going to be hard for us to compete at the top end of this division, but will we compete to stay in this division? Yes, no matter who we bring through the door. I believe in what we have here.” LB: “We still need five new signings. Whenever we think we’re close, someone else comes over the top of us. We need to stay patient and not make rash decisions. We can’t get players that won’t improve us, because that’s just stupid. LB: “We won’t see any of the money gained from Ademola Lookman’s move to Leipzig.” LB: “Blackburn will be well-organised and solid with players that can hurt you. Like any team, they will have strengths and weaknesses. They will think it’s a good time to play us due to the size of our squad at the moment, but we will go there and compete.” LB: “At the moment, we have Lyle Taylor and Macauley Bonne as our only two strikers and Macauley is not quite ready yet, so we’re limited. We’re solid at the back and have two for every position, but we’re short in the middle of the park and in the final third.” LB: “We have to get the five in. When we’re playing Saturday/Tuesdays, we need the numbers. We're a good club and an attractive club. When we loaned players last season we sent them back as better players and teams recognise that.” LB: “I’m excited for the new season, because it’s a new challenge for me. I’m excited to see how we do and if we can tactically outsmart the others. It’s going to be interesting.” That concludes this morning's press conference.
Bowyer made his debut for us at 17 years old didn't he? I remember watching him come on for the Reserves at The Goldstone v Brighton res! I thought hes gonna be in our first team soon ! Ah memories
Roland probably saying to bowyer let’s sell him they’ve offered half a million and bowyers saying no Roland his worth a million.tell you what you shut the fuck up and I’ll do the deal to sell him if you give me the extra money I make on the deal to strengthen the squad. But Roland will still pocket it to piss us off even more.

the joys of being a fucking charlton fan.
Just as long as we all sing as loud as we can the team can't lose.
