    1966 is still memorable as is 1970. The rest are a bit of a blur except for 1990. After those, it’s memorable moments like Lineker’s hat trick v Poland in 1986 and the comeback against Cameroon (or Cameroon crumbling). As for 2018, let’s get out of the group first.

    Top theme tune that one, I was living in Germany and it was used by BFBS so brings back great memories, I had forgotten that intro so thanks for sharing.

    England were lucky to beat Belgium....and to an extent Cameroon....unfortunately our luck ran out and we unfortunately lost to the Germans. Flew out to the Algarve the day after the semi defeat, saw an absolutely awful final in Portugal.

    Italia 90 still sticks in my mind as my favourite.

    Enjoyed everything about it including the official song ... and we were unlucky not to get to the final.

    Loved Germany 2006 too, it was physically close by and I got a feel for what it meant for the country. Had tickets for the 3rd place game in Stuttgart which was a great experience all round. Up all night afterwards, the whole city was revelling.

    To borrow someone else's line, I've already decided that Russia 2018 can shove it up its arse.

    I was working in Frankfurt for that one and must admit I had a brilliant time in the bars along the river for the games. Great set-up and some very late nights.

    History Channel has the official FIFA World Cup 82 film available to watch - commentary by Sean Connery - quite good, enjoyed it
