Wasn’t that the Friday night game where West Brom were at the top and going for promotion and the next lunchtime Killer was the guest on the ITV football programme and when asked about their promotion hopes he said something like we stuffed that or put a dent in it, or something to that effect ?Raith_C_Chattonell said:I'm guessing that Derek Hales had something to do with the goalie John Osbourne being laid out. It seems that Brown, Wile, Robertson and Mulligan are not amused. Keith Peacock minding his own business ....
Why do the WBA players all look the same?0 -
We played in all red in both 1968/69 and 1969/70 seasons. I loved that kit. My first game was in 1968/69 so it brings back great memories. I had a team photo of that season on my bedroom wall at the time when we were in the all red kit - sadly the picture is long gone.Redvaliant said:
Yes we did. Check out the 68/69 Charlton Derby match on YouTube. Ok it's black and white, but shorts match shirts!Mametz said:
We definitely played in an all red strip in the 1968/69 season.AddicksAddict said:
As stated above, all red was the next season.Big William said:Some interesting pictures re the Arsenal cup tie, we played in all red in 1968-9, in league games at least, don't know why they put on the white ones for the photoshoot. Maybe the red ones were in the wash.0 -
I remember that game, pretty sure it was on a Friday night.Raith_C_Chattonell said:I'm guessing that Derek Hales had something to do with the goalie John Osbourne being laid out. It seems that Brown, Wile, Robertson and Mulligan are not amused. Keith Peacock minding his own business ....

WBA were top or near top.0 -
Saw this posted on social media of Defoe, Parker and Leon Knight in our youth team.I never knew Knight started with us and having done a quick search this morning, not seen anything online.6 -
You can see it in DeFoe's face, that he was planning to go all Judas, on us! It would take years for Parker to stick the knife in...
Only joking.5 -

I was at the front of the South Terrace and in the 1st half Osbourne was involved in some light natured banter after Killer scored trying to make the goal smaller. He seemed like a good egg so was a bit upset when the Covered End started singing Osbourne is a wa**er in the 2nd half. This photo may explain why. Hales was on fire at that time1 -
I remember that so well. Was set to be my second away game as an 8 year old. I cut that out and had it pasted on my wall in the bedroom.Raith_C_Chattonell said:

The frontage with the sign is the Seabay Fish Bar. I can't copy the image from Street View.RodneyCharltonTrotta said:Is that floyd Road?
The crowd is all heading to Valley Grove for the Jimmy Seed Stand as now is.
The photographer must have been standing on top of some kind of platform, the top of a truck maybe? This isn't taken from a house and would explain why so many are looking the way if the camera.3 -

@TellyTubby. Great picture0 -
I’m struggling to believe that is Scott Parker…looks nothing like him but if others think it is then I guess I’ll have to go with it.🤔soapy_jones said:You can see it in DeFoe's face, that he was planning to go all Judas, on us! It would take years for Parker to stick the knife in...

Would appear to be just after the war 46/47 according to Colin Cameron’s book home and away.
He confirms prices for that season same as the sign.

I'm guessing as well, but you're a long way out Henry. I'd say 1954.Henry Irving said:

Size of the fella to the right of centre, three quarters of the way back in the black hat. Looks like he's stooping but still looks a good foot taller than the blokes around him.TellyTubby said:
Imagine fighting your way through the crowd to get into the ground and then being stood behind him!2
