  • One of my favourite players from that era. I even saw him score a late winner at Palace once.
  • Sad news. What a great player he was to watch in his day.

I loved watching him play when I was a kid, a great role model of the 70's and 80's, so sad and so young, RIP
  • Really sad news, a childhood favourite of mine and a gentleman

He was a fantastic player, and really shocked me to hear this news, not least because he's younger than me! I used to tell mates at work that he and Trevor Francis should play up front for England, with Tony Currie and Glenn Hoddle spraying 50 yard passes for them to run onto; never happened of course! RIP big man!

Very sad. Used to try to recreate his goals with my friends as a kid. RIP

So saddened to hear this news. He was a fantastic player and more importantly a great role model in the fight against the evil of racism.

    RIP Cyrille
  • Top player - check out the world class save from Steve Gritt from Big Cyrille at Highfield Road in 1988.

Went to this with the Junior Reds and had a massive bundle on the coach on the way home much to the chagrin of the helpers.

    RIP Cyrille.

Listened to a podcast he did last week (see recommend a podcast thread)
Came across as a true gent, very honest and thoughtful.
A real pioneer for the generations of black players that came after him, so sad to hear this today.

    RIP Cyrille

    Very sad.

As a player he was a very good pacy, physical centre forward and unlucky not to play for England more than he did.

His peers and others have commented on his positive influence as a role model and mentor.

    RIP

RIP Cyrille. Went to this game as well - it was a disaster of a day and was the final nail that put an end to our regular train away days - only late teens at time but got caught with under age train tickets, had to re buy adult ones, were 3-0 down in no time and then got chased all the way back to the station by Coventry boys. Became an away game glory boy after that rather than regular.
