If Amazon win a package they would probably offer it as one of their premium channels, which they do charge for, even if you subscribe to Prime.
  • Options
I suspect a lot of this will be got round by broadband providers bundling different packages together. Even more money for those at the top and none of it trickling down.
  • Options
Last time BT paid a shed load of money to acquire two packages that Sky couldn't have had anyway.

10 of which are on boxing Day. Does sky usually offer every boxing day tie live? Surely not?

Hope it's still included in prime, doubtful though

It might be. Amazon's NFL coverage is included as part of Prime membership in the States.

Amazon will show 20 Premier League matches a season for three years from 2019, after winning one of the final two broadcast packages.

The online streaming service won the rights to show every game from the first round of midweek fixtures in December and all 10 matches on 26 December as part of a three-year deal.

The matches will be available free to Amazon Prime's UK members.

The other unsold package of 20 games was bought by BT Sport for £90m.

That takes its total number of games to 52 per season, while a further 128 will be shown by Sky Sports, including prime-time Saturday night fixtures.

    Some strange packages there.

Don’t see what the appeal is in spending big money like that on a single day of football. Surely most people will all watch the biggest one or two games.

And the first midweek slot in December is equally as bizarre.

Yes, that Boxing Day coverage is bizarre. And I assume they will have to schedule them so that they don't clash with games in the other divisions, i.e. no games at 3pm.

I assume Amazon will use the commentators used by the PL for its international coverage?

NBC show 3 o'clock kick offs simultaneously every weekend using the commentary teams that you'll hear on Sky's highlights packages. Suspect Amazon will do the same.
  • Options
So, you can order something from Amazon in early December, sign up for the free Prime trial, get two rounds of EPL matches and then cancel after the Boxing Day fixtures.

Win-win. Lots of people get free football on TV, Amazon sell more Christmas presents online, plenty of people forget to cancel these trial subscriptions so they get a few unwitting subscribers as well.

They are testing the water here. If it works for them, expect a serious bid for wider coverage next time they are auctioned off. Just when Sky and BT where preparing to cap what they are spending on football, one of the really big players arrives. Sky under Fox will be a different proposition next time around and the giant US MNC's will start to compete - bad news for BT who won't have the stake money. PL players can expect to continue to get wealthier and wealthier.

Was possibly due to be getting an amazon share but leaving the company soon now so it's unlikely.

Would be a great time to have one, even if it's just one.

A little off topic but from next week any game not selected as part of the usual schedule by Sky or BT will instead be on pay per view (via sky or BT) for £14.95 per game.
    Are they for real??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Speechless

Premier League games not selected for broadcast in October will be available to fans on a pay-per-view basis.

The five fixtures per round not already picked to be shown live, will be available on BT Sport Box Office or Sky Sports Box Office, priced at £14.95.

Clubs have agreed this "interim solution" to allow fans to continue watching their team live.

The Premier League said it and its clubs "remain committed to the safe return of fans as soon as possible".

It will be interesting if this continues beyond the current run of selected games.

Obviously most weeks the “best” 5 games are picked so the lesser 5 games (that wouldn’t normally be on tv) will be on PPV this time around.
If this is still in place when the next batch of games are picked will the premium games be on the PPV option?

You can already watch any Premier league 3pm kick off you want so easily with a casting device or a firestick

The Premier league are as bad as politicians for self interest.

That said, ifollow is a tenner a game and you can't even watch that legitimately (not without dicking about) on a nice big TV

    £25 Sky
    £8 Amazon
    £15 BT Sport
    PPV: £90

= £138 to watch all the premier league games in October

I know the PPV games skew this massively but for comparison the NBA have a league pass which is £25 a month and gives you every single game in one package.

Surely no one is buying those PPV games.

Ah, bless. They've done it for the fans. That's really nice and thoughtful of them.

To be fair I dont see a problem with them charging Premier League fans extra for games that arent shown as standard rather than getting them all for free

After all we're not getting all Charlton games for free so why should they

When it becomes criminal is where fans have got season tickets for Newcastle, Man City and arent getting a compromise where we're seeing

Nah, if you live abroad you can stream all the games anyway or watch them on legit TV

If you live in the UK you get a VPN that pings your location as somewhere like Sweden and you watch online here for free

NFL Sunday Ticket: $300 for the season for access to any games not already being shown on TV in your area.

Premier League Matchday Ticket isn’t as far away as people think.

So if you've bought a season ticket there is no way to watch it in the UK legally?
