  • On the face of it this a very dissapointing end to the window think , we do have a first 11 which is very good but really dreading when the injuries and suspensions start adding up not mention our only proven striker will be away a few times international duty can't see us being anywhere near come January now

2 weeks ago Novak was fat, lazy and useless. Definitely not good enough for us. Now he's gone it's like we've sold Neymar.

Last week we hated that the club conducted it's business in public - now it's being done quietly people are moaning.

Nobody has seen Dodoo play so how about we give him a chance before dismissing him. He was incredibly highly rated at Leicester a couple of years ago so let's see how this plays out.

No not in the slightest. We have let Novak leave and whilst he wasn't a world beater he was the only option we had who was a like for like (ish) replacement for Josh.

The new kid offers something different - and that's great - but leaves us short of a striker who suits our system. That's why we're disappointed to lose Novak. Because it leaves us short. As we have been left short every transfer window since these idiots arrived.

I hoped Josh stays fit and Doodo hits the ground running but if we don't get lucky there we really are screwed.

And come January this kids loan ends? We're left trying to find 2 strikers in the Jan window which is famous for good value and getting decent players in. Ohh yeah.

And in the summer? We're left with just Josh who will only have 1 year left on his contract.
Doodo hits the ground running? There is an old Polish rhetorical saying: "Have you ever seen a horse run and shit at the same time?"

  • RC, We have no depth up front. One injury, let alone two, then we are "cattled"
  • As mentioned he was highly rated coming through at Leicester and never quite cut it. Went up to Scotland I'm assuming to play but didn't quite get that. He's apparently rapid so brings a nice change. He could turn out to be a good addition.

That said, he would have been a great compliment while keeping Novak letting Novak go and bringing in just Dodoo is not surprising but still baffling. I guess there is still time to get one more over the line but it doesn't look good.

I'm not a big fan of Novak and it's clear he wanted to move on but we are almost certainly weaker now than we were 24 hours ago. Especially with Hanlan and Umerah gone
Both desperately need first team league games but neither can be recalled until January.
  • Spain style 4-6-0 coming up

Well it won't the Euros and a World Cup

he'll need to get used to tighter marking - remember Mag said League 1 was a step up from the Scottish Premier.

Fanni and Dodoo in the space of 2 years, can't wait to sign Steve Clungeberger from Belgian 5th division in Jan

Don't forget the unseen Anil Koc, Rod Fanni and Anil Koc in a team just sounds so wrong and throw in Dodoo, and I Shittu not we have a team of badly named Pornstars
  • So KR weren't messing..we do really need to be in contention before they sanction a grigg or Taylor sort of signing..if they did that now it would increase those chances surely? I hope Joe does well because he will become a scapegoat otherwise. Also any injuries to key players are always bad no matter where you are.
Would people have trusted Novak to fill Mags boots if he was injured?

Am I the only one who thinks it's been a great window? We've not lost any player that we were worried about losing. We've signed some really exciting players, if the first few games are anything to go by.

We are playing really well, and we have two players for every position in the team (allowing the fact we don't know about Dodoo yet) but let's be honest Novak was sh*t! There was almost a protest in itself when it was discovered he was starting the first game of the season.

I really believe we're in a strong position in this league. 100% still want our Belgian legion out but today is not the disaster people are claiming it is I don't think.

We've got massive strength in depth at CB, a lot of depth in midfield when Marshall returns, but no depth up front. Dodoo is fine to bring off the bench, or if we need to switch to 4-4-2, but can't play as a lone striker, so there's no cover for Magennis who's a key player
  • Hahahahahahahahah hahahahahahahahaha!!!!

(That's uncontrollable maniacal finally gone fruit loop laughter BTW)

I think it's pretty much been a good window. Pretty much every position has good competition or cover. Lots if good additions and we've not lot anyone key. However once again they have left us desperately short in a key area. We have one senior striker who can lead the line in our formation. Other than that we have a kid on loan who is more suited to a 2 up front system or playing out wide. Behind that kids.

It's how it played out today that is the issue. Shambolic doesn't even come close. Novak walked and we were left to pick up what was available at little cost. No matter what KR says or how the PR team spin it, today has shown once again the naivety of those doing our business. I'm sure VOTV will have plenty to fill their next issue.
  • Novak move now confirmed on Sky as a free transfer.
  • They clearly don't do risk assessments at Charlton

    IRONS SIGN NOVAK

Scunthorpe United have completed the signing striker Lee Novak on a free transfer.

Why is Katrien incapable of getting fees for players?
Because he was on about 8/9 grand a week.
And whose fault was that ?

    Aaaah, of course......!
    Slades no1 target...

And none of the young strikers left are obvious No 9s

This signing feels like such a return to the weirdness of recent years.
Desperation, after selling an experienced striker to a rival. Clueless!!!!

To be honest I'd prefer he was playing for a rival than us. I just can't believe or understand how, or why, we have managed to end up with one striker and a kid on loan.
  • My misses don't mind dildo tbf.

Also worth noting Robinson and Steve Gallen have had a very good summer. It's possible Dodoo turns out to be a real diamond in the tough. Certainly look to have found one with Fosu.
  • Good window ruined at the end with stupidity. Needed to add a striker to improve, not go sideways.
  • Don't focus on what RD and KM don't do. Focus on what they Dodoo.
  • So KR weren't messing..we do really need to be in contention before they sanction a grigg or Taylor sort of signing..if they did that now it would increase those chances surely? I'd have trustwd Novak more than anyone we have now. Not because he was amazing but at least he fit the system.

I bet Novak does well for Scunthorpe, as I believe he would have done for us given a run in the side.

It's kind of weird. And there's no longer an emergency clause allowing us to buy if say Magennis was injured.

But haven't there been other sides who have played a fluid system, who haven't had a great big fella up front to hold the ball up?
