  • There was a "done deal" on February 8th, at least in the eyes of 1) the interested party (almost certainly the Aussies) and 2) someone close to the legal process. Soon after that I was told TWO parties had agreed a price by a completely different source.

I doubt there is a “race” to do the paperwork. I think the Aussies have done it and were ready to go, but RD wants to sell to the other party if he can. If they fall at the last he will go back to the Aussies.

aussies are out the race then, we all know how roly gets bizarre things in his head and just wont go with anything else.

    What?
    He's selling to Alan Turing?
  • Couldn’t this statement from RM just been a ploy to force the hand of any others watching events but yet to strike a deal?

So are we all saying @Redhenry 's lot are one of the 2 parties?

RH/anyone know who is likely to cross the line first so the speak?

So my pal’s info was spot on. One bidder pulled out, two remain, legal loose ends to be tied up. Not sure how it works with ‘two bids accepted’.
But to me, great news that the sale is only ‘weeks away’.

Ah, Airman was saying weeks ago that there was a preferred bidder, and it was just a matter of time.... the other bidder must be waiting in the wings, as the previous poster also suggested.

So you did have the info then? You said you had only heard it was good news before ..

    Ahem, a 'few' weeks away.
    Piece of string?
I’m happy with that. But I guess until it’s done, it’s not done.

    It’s nearly party time.

What do you think we would prefer Airman?
I don’t see how we can know.
Do we know why Roland might prefer one bidder over another if they are offering the same?

  • So its not a done deal then as both parties could still pull out.

Ahh, that's easy imagine what a level headed normal thinking person would decide and then contemplate the exact opposite outcome and there's your answer

So we ought to hope the Australians get it then :)

Miss Katona picking through the bones of today’s developments.

Oh, I thought UpNorth is where you live not a sexual preference. Each to their own.
  • I've changed my mind!! Sky report that Rd has agreed a price with 2 separate parties. To be fair we still don't know if both have instructed lawyers to draft the SPA. I'm sick of the conjectures (and a lot of these posts) and will just be happy when the sale happens. By the way, I chose "7"....do you mind?

Hoping the other party is the one @Redhenry knows about.

I only wanted to pass on the good news that the sale was still going ahead and that it would be soon. I probably shouldn’t have said anything. But who cares who said what to whom. It’s (almost) happening!
  • No I just wondered.

Provided it involves the Aussie Muir it could be a win win.

Maybe Roland prefers RedHenry's lot if they have deeper pockets to reach the Premier League where it could be Roland receives a payment in the same way of the former directors.

Would explain a possible preferred bidder theory with the Aussies to fall back on.

Just speculating in hope based on Airman and Athletico Charlton's comments.
  • See, all that "nothing is happening, no offers made, all depends on what division we're in next season"... That was bollocks.

    It is on the OS.

It's all lies, Doucher said nothings happening

Nothing is a “done deal” until documents are signed and money is in the bank so rumours from those in the club are hardly a “done deal”

Murray didn’t say two parties agreed price did he? Surely the two parties are the bidder and Roland?

That is not the club’s position. The statement says: “Charlton Athletic Director (sic) Richard Murray has said that a price for a takeover of the club has been agreed with two separate parties and that the deal is now with the lawyers.”

This isn’t repeated in the Murray quote, so if it was a newspaper story you’d have a point. But as it’s part of an official statement the intro carries as much weight as the quote. It’s all what the club is saying.

It’s a pretty poorly drafted statement given the ambiguity, but that’s another issue.
