As a fan base go, Charlton fans really don't need this kind of nonsense and uncertainty. We've had a gutfull. I'm getting the sense now of what Bowyer was on about with his strange comment the other week Matt Southall swanning around the place like he owns the gaff when the reality appears to be he is far from it, is really not helping.
It's been well over a month now. It's not stacking up as it should for me
What is the average length of time it takes the EFL to ratify a deal like this?
They have to read all of Grapevines posts before beginning, so another 3-4 months at least
Poor use of wording informing that it’s the EFL ratification that’s closer but not done. More implies to me that the deal to purchase is not yet done. That though doesn’t fit with everything else we’ve been told.
I think there’s a lot to be said for the old adage and slogan “would you buy a used car from this man”
Nothing wrong with legitimate scrutiny. If there’s nothing to find then it won’t be found.
I have just seen something on social media that would make me question buying anything off of RE
or raging rick as the piece called him
Now is not the time for digging and scrutiny now is the time for coming together and allowing people to show their intentions not looking like an soured scorned love sick bint
I really don’t think you’d like the person behind that NLA - ex member of Arthur Scargill’s Socialist Labour Party for a start. Thanet politics is a wild and wonderful place but you won’t understand it from reading local bloggers (and ex-councillors).
Which is exactly the point I am making we can look for dirt anywhere it doesn’t make it valid or viable it doesn’t make it a source of news
what needs to happen is time out ESI have to have atleast 2 full seasons to clear the decks remove the things that have been installed in charlton that make us small time and chancers and there’s loads
retain the good people growths club based on the good will and the knowledge that’s retained
move on from our past learning from it but not dwelling on it
reinstall the values we once had and 100% focus on the youth system and what that may bring to the table to use not sell
bolster the playing squad to support the youth production line
sign avory and his team on the longest deal known to man
give gallen the keys to the kitty
sign bows and jacko on long term deals
That’s what will define ESi and it’s not a January 2020 fix
You know very well that I broadly agree with that but they need to get January 2020 right to enable any of it.
And that is going to be achieved by sensibly managing the injury hit squad
resting and bedding the youth in the correct way
I would be focused on signing players to get us through the next 3-4 months of this season in any budget given by ESi
I would sell those that show no desire to stay and use that money to fund in comings that may be more long term
Yes, I'm sure that you have also been told they intend to sell Taylor. We can argue about the pros and cons of that, but Lee Bowyer has made very clear via the media that it is not his preference and that his view is that it would be better to allow Taylor to see out his contract and leave in the summer on a free. It means that we would start further back than where we are now.
Indications from ESI side is that Charlton takeover has moved closer but that not a done deal yet.
To me this says EFL asked for clarification of an issue and EDI have now given it. The EFL now have less than 11 hours, to either approve or raise further questions. Failure to do so in a timely manner, leaves them open to legal action for prejudicial treatment of a member.
IF, ESI intend to sell Taylor, how do they do that in January, when he may be the only fit striker other than Davidson ? There is a parallel with Yann not being offered an extra 2 grand back in the day. So this is the "strange" comment made by Bowyer ? IF Taylor was paid the going rate for a Championship striker he would stay unless it was a premier club that makes him an offer ! So ESI know a striker that is available in January and is as good as Taylor ! Blimey, good luck with getting that deal done for less than 10 million. Why did Bowyer say "we have another 21 games so I wont pick Lyle to start" If he knew he was going ?
All becoming surreal, with most posters now showing their political colours or their inner feral beasts.

No one is going to sue the EFL, no matter what your A Level in law is telling you.

I haven’t been told anything about who has what intention for taylor
what i do know for a fact is that once this all be ratified over the next 7-10 days maybe sooner that the offer to taylor matches brentfords from the summer
should he not want to sign that and people still be interested in him , (I am not so sure the same people would be ) and we be offered 3-4 mil for him i personally would sell him rather than wait
remember I said when the first knock back from charlton came to brentford that we would see taylor for a max of two or three weeks then gone til Xmas with injury now I am no Nostradamus but I was virtually correct
I want a fit switched on commited taylor above all other strikers in this league I think he is that important to us
but if we don’t have that taylor then let him go and I wish him well
Some hysterical, in both meanings of the word, comments here.
Just as well I didn't pass on the rest of the message.
When it's on the official site
Blimey, have a word HI. You just pulled someone else up for a silly comment...
Why?
That also insignificant message would have also been pulled apart, over analysed and huge assumptions made from it, followed by some personal attacks on whoever the poster has been digging out for years.
Not worth the hassle of having to put insignificant things in context given the febrile nature of this site after a defeat.
So why say anything then?
You’ve been on the scene long enough to know full well that there is not a single forum in the world where a contribution on the lines of ‘I know something you don’t’ has ever gone down well.
100% with you on your conclusion!! Happy new year to all on CL. Hopefully there’s a bright future ahead. 2020 is the year to start laying the solid foundations for growth!!

No one is going to sue the EFL, no matter what your A Level in law is telling you.
Apart from Sheffield Wednesday, Boro, Bury and threats by several L1 clubs over the Bolton debacle? A level was in Economics although I did study law for 2 years, and that legal training tells me that taking legal action and sueing are two different things, although in this case sueing may be most appropriate..

Spot on! Maybe add a new strength and conditioning coach and we have the perfect start for the new owners!
I've also read elsewhere that it's done and will be announced early in New Year, with all staff meeting new chairman soon after announcement.
They have all ready met him, been walking around like he owns the gaff for weeks. If "he" owns the the club it will be a "bumpy ride"
Whether he owns it or runs it, why do you say that?
Because I don't trust him, he is a chancer. IF the deal goes through I could be proved wrong. If I am I'll take the flack but I don't think it will be as smooth ride.
Seems to me that Cawley would be better keeping his yap shut than posting something as annoyingly vague and contradictory as that.
I really wish twitter would go away.
He can’t win really. If he doesn’t post his mentions are full of kids screaming for takeover news. When he does try and share information he gets responses like this.
I’d always rather he tweets, even if it isn’t the most exciting update.

Do you not understand that this is what ESI have told him? If it’s “vague and contradictory” and that’s an issue for you then the fault lies elsewhere.
Pure speculation regarding Taylors future but what if he wanted to go (pure speculation again) and we were offered Glen Murray and cash as a swap for Taylor and signed Ivan Toney - would that be a good deal? Head in the clouds me.
As you say, or as I paraphrase, we don't know about the new owner or his chosen staff but beggars can't be choosers.
But that shouldn't mean we don't ask questions (I can think of six at least). We have no legal right to answers but that shouldn't stop us asking. And asking questions doesn't mean being against the new owners or constitute a witch hunt.
As I said before we've been bitten not once, not twice but thrice so are entitled to be shy.
When the completed and approved takeover is confirmed on the official site ESI can start to put their plans into action and we can start to see what they are made off.

This why twitter is so rubbish in these situations. When we all want is clarity and some sort of explanation all we get is 140 characters. How is that tweet helpful or revealing new info in a useful context?

Simply brilliant
Masterful summary from Grapevine, as ever.

LLLBH
We are privileged to take ownership of such an historic club
While we may be the club owners, truly we are only the custodians
Are wholly inaccurate.
