  • The longer we wait and the further we slip down the table I fear this deal is in jeopardy. Hope I am worng
  • “Done deal” ?

Poor use of wording informing that it’s the EFL ratification that’s closer but not done. More implies to me that the deal to purchase is not yet done. That though doesn’t fit with everything else we’ve been told.

Indications from ESI side is that Charlton takeover has moved closer but that not a done deal yet.

To me this says EFL asked for clarification of an issue and EDI have now given it.  The EFL now have less than 11 hours, to either approve or raise further questions. Failure to do so in a timely manner, leaves them open to legal action for prejudicial treatment of a member.

IF, ESI intend to sell Taylor, how do they do that in January, when he may be the only fit striker other than Davidson ?
There is a parallel with Yann not being offered an extra 2 grand back in the day.
So this is the "strange" comment made by Bowyer ? IF Taylor was paid the going rate for a Championship striker he would stay unless it was a premier club that makes him an offer !
So ESI know a striker that is available in January and is as good as Taylor ! Blimey, good luck with getting that deal done for less than 10 million.
Why did Bowyer say "we have another 21 games so I wont pick Lyle to start"
If he knew he was going ?

All becoming surreal, with most posters now showing their political colours or their inner feral beasts.

    Healthy new year to all.

  • Seems to me that Cawley would be better keeping his yap shut than posting something as annoyingly vague and contradictory as that.

I really wish twitter would go away.

  • Selling Taylor would be a huge own goal right up there with selling Yann. But as this is Charlton I expect he'll be sold on deadline day

  • Fabulous post!
100% with you on your conclusion!!
Happy new year to all on CL.
Hopefully there’s a bright future ahead.
2020 is the year to start laying the solid foundations for growth!!

No one is going to sue the EFL, no matter what your A Level in law is telling you.
Apart from Sheffield Wednesday, Boro, Bury and threats by several L1 clubs over the Bolton debacle? A level was in Economics although I did study law for 2 years, and that legal training tells me that taking legal action and sueing are two different things, although in this case sueing may be most appropriate..
  • I think there’s a lot to be said for the old adage and slogan “would you buy a used car from this man”

Nothing wrong with legitimate scrutiny. If there’s nothing to find then it won’t be found.
I have just seen something on social media that would make me question buying anything off of RE

or raging rick as the piece called him

Now is not the time for digging and scrutiny now is the time for coming together and allowing people to show their intentions not looking like an soured scorned love sick bint

I really don’t think you’d like the person behind that NLA - ex member of Arthur Scargill’s Socialist Labour Party for a start. Thanet politics is a wild and wonderful place but you won’t understand it from reading local bloggers (and ex-councillors).
Which is exactly the point I am making we can look for dirt anywhere it doesn’t make it valid or viable it doesn’t make it a source of news

what needs to happen is time out ESI have to have atleast 2 full seasons to clear the decks remove the things that have been installed in charlton that make us small time and chancers and there’s loads

retain the good people growths club based on the good will and the knowledge that’s retained

move on from our past learning from it but not dwelling on it

reinstall the values we once had and 100% focus on the youth system and what that may bring to the table to use not sell

bolster the playing squad to support the youth production line

sign avory and his team on the longest deal known to man

give gallen the keys to the kitty

sign bows and jacko on long term deals

That’s what will define ESi and it’s not a January 2020 fix

Spot on! Maybe add a new strength and conditioning coach and we have the perfect start for the new owners!

I've also read elsewhere that it's done and will be announced early in New Year, with all staff meeting new chairman soon after announcement.
They have all ready met him, been walking around like he owns the gaff for weeks.  If "he" owns the the club it will be a "bumpy ride"
Whether he owns it or runs it, why do you say that?
Because I don't trust him, he is a chancer.  IF the deal goes through I could be proved wrong.  If I am I'll take the flack but I don't think it will be as smooth ride.
Fair play, I respect your honesty.
  • When are Sheffield Wednesday, Boro and Bury going to sue the EFL? Source? Links?

Unpopular opinion but believe Cawley isn’t particularly in the know and only breaks news once it’s out there anyway.

More in the know than most, speaks to Bowyer directly

  • Pure speculation regarding Taylors future but what if he wanted to go (pure speculation again) and we were offered Glen Murray and cash as a swap for Taylor and signed Ivan Toney - would that be a good deal?
    Head in the clouds me.

Do you not understand that this is what ESI have told him? If it’s “vague and contradictory” and that’s an issue for you then the fault lies elsewhere.
This why twitter is so rubbish in these situations.  When we all want is clarity and some sort of explanation all we get is 140 characters.  How is that tweet helpful or revealing new info in a useful context?
  • Superb Grapevine
  • For the record, as it stands, statements like:

We are privileged to take ownership of such an historic club

While we may be the club owners, truly we are only the custodians

    Are wholly inaccurate.
