My take is that wouldn't be strange but unacceptable given injuries and as SHG says could be disastrous. I offer another scenario. They have singled out Taylor and Leko as potential signings. Most others are contracted until only June. Could be they will want to start afresh and SG will have his work cut out. How many kids will stay in that scenario is unclear, because while on vastly lower wages, most are also out of contract.

Perhaps a policy to sign only players under a certain age?

It ain’t gonna be sanctioned this side of Xmas is it?? 😕
I reckon the West Brom game on the 11th will be the earliest we will see a game under the new ownership.

I cannot see any work being done before the New Year.
RD's takeover got sanctioned over New Years didn't it?
Correct, the first week of January 2014 if I´m not mistaken.
And there was still time to sign Anil Cock.
Got to be one of the best named footballers!  Should be in the same team as David Goodwillie...
    And Rod Fanni

If it does pan out to be this, then I wonder if the 'strange' comment from Bowyer was the new owners telling him that they won't  strengthen the squad until the summer, but any money from sales e.g. Taylor can be re-invested??.
That wouldn't be strange though would it?  It would be quite normal for a club that doesn't generate any of its own money.

Bowyer seems to be saying some strange stuff himself.  The way he worded the Taylor situation to Cawley was weird.

Maybe it's a bit of pressure with the current results.  Maybe Bowyer is less confident of either the deal going through or his future if it does than he was.

    And Slater/Jimenez before that.
  • What was the date that we first heard of the takeover ?
  • What was the date that we first heard of the takeover ?
Roland told us we advised the efl on 20 November and submitted first docs on the 27th.
  • Still no word from @Redhenry unless I missed it.
Has he been abducted by aliens??
  • I’m going to have a guess at 30th December is when it’ll be announced.

That’s 5 and a half weeks, including Christmas, since they told the EFL, and 4 and half since they submitted documents. It’ll also be just shy of 3 weeks, including Christmas, since they had their interviews.

Just in time for the January window, and just in time for Roland’s tax year end.

I would imagine his friend has left Charlton so doesn't have ears anymore at the club.
Not a dicky bird about the UAE ESI group so doesn't want to be bombarded with questions where he would now have to guess and speculate like the 99% who are not in ITK on CL.

I know he appeared to have a hotline as he was the first to break the news that Lee Bowyer would be staying shortly after Roland's late night call to Lee, improving his contract to stay for one extra season after we all heard that Bowyer had walked.
  • I’m guessing we will here around the middle of January.
  • It will happen before the start of Jan, the new owners will invest and make intentions clear. They are not in this to just hold and see what happens...

I’m advised by someone who would know that the effective day for the start of the process was November 27th. The EFL will know that they will bring a bucketload of shit down on their own heads the further it encroaches into January and they want to get rid of Roland, so they won’t go beyond that lightly.
So if you were to stick your neck out, would you say it’s likely to be done by the new year, or at least the very beginning of 2020?

    Yes
  • what’s been harder for you...a)  the last 2 years or so when we knew RD wanted to sell but hadn’t or b) the last month or so when we knew ESI wanted us but EFL were going through their machinations?

27th November is the date RD gave on his recent statement. Also mentions the EFL were made aware of ESIs potential takeover on the 20th.

Indeed, but ESI are using November 27th as the start date. I wouldn’t take Roland’s version as meaningful.
  • Come the frick on... We just want it done so the negative ninnies can wind it in!
  • I bet the EFL were about to rubber stamp the takeover until Roly's outburst, then they thought we better a good few days on so we don't appear to be dancing to the nutters tune.

I understand that he heard about the Saudi group and not the UAE group but he also said he had a friend who worked at Charlton and seemed to get lots of information from them on numerous Charlton related issues. That why the silence is deafening on any Charlton news.
