So according to the Telegraph report the EFL have been scrutinising the deal for over a month now. Surely that must mean we are close to an announcement?
I think the phrase you are looking for is "its imminent".

This really made me laugh, especially as I have 4 second cousins in Redruth! Lol!

Ruth sounds like an accommodating girl!!
Anything to get you to vote Corbyn.

I'd like to think that the "strange" ideas have to do with ambitions to devote money and resources to the women's team to elevate both the women's and the men's to the upper echelons, as per the Sheik's statements... No doubt Bowyer would find that strange but not bad... Probably not, and we don't even know the Sheik's involved, but I'm choosing that to cling to!
I think they aim to bring all aspects of the club together: the first team, academy, women’s team, community trust, etc. How they plan to do that exactly, I don’t have a clue. But I think that Southall has a plan and ideas to do just that. For me, that’s what is ‘strange’. Just how feasible and successful it will actually be, will be interesting and exciting at the same time. They certainly have the money to make it work. Building the training ground development to have it all integrated together I feel is a key part of this.

With that, I hope it allows for more vacancies and opportunities for people in the community who are qualified. I know the trust have agreed a big contract with someone I am not prepared to name, but the future work and plans are interesting and possibly in years to come the new training ground could play a part in that.

Overall, it will bring the club even closer to the community and I think they know if they can tap into that side, we have a huge area to improve and make ourselves a real force.

I’m just looking forward to it being announced and we can all move forward in a positive direction. The sooner that happens, the sooner Bowyer can also get the help he needs for the squad and us and the club can really kick on together.

We must have a bit more patience, but it’s going to be exciting once it happens.
    Very interesting and very positive.

I hope you are correct @sage as I've long wanted the Community Trust (note that TN posted their badge on Insta) and the women's team, the LGBT+, the deaf team et al to be integral parts of the Charlton Athletic, not add ons that receive no funding but are used for good publicity when it suits the owners.

    WE have an LGBT team?!

Off topic I know but have @Charenteaddick and @OggyRed thought about forming Cornish Addicks Supporters group then one of you can attend the Fan's Forum metings.............Oh hang on a minute 😉

Then there's also WheresMeTicket, if he's still in Cornwall?
And the fella on here with his four 2nd cousins in Redruth.

Anyone else down here in Kernow?
    We're getting the band together.

  • Feck me. I hope the incompetence of the EFL rattles on for a bit and there really is a link between us and Man City.

Ah, that was Bowyer's "strange" thing - we are going to be City's feeder club  ;)
  • For the past hour sky sports have been saying on the bit that goes across the screen that the EFL are still investigating any link between our potential new owners and man.city.
ESI are denying any link and are confident deal will go ahead.
Im surprised the media arent talking more about the takeover seeing its got the potential to make us one of the biggest clubs in the country

E.g. with money will come the expectation from the media for us to be competing in the Premier League

I think this either means that HH Sheikh Saeed Bin Tahnoun Bin Mohammed Al Nahya and his money are 100% involved OR the EFL are a bunch of racist fuckwits
  • I would rather have had nothing ever said about a takeover at all, and instead get the news once it's EFL approved.

Why did we have that announcement on Sky Sports at all?

The first option being true doesn't mean the second one can't be true too.

Thanks for popping in and clarifying that, Oracle @Chizz

I don't see how the EFL can block the takeover on conflict of interest grounds without facing hugely expensive litigation from both the buyers and Roland himself. I doubt the EFL having the stomach (or resources) for that kind of fight.
  • I think the EFL would save themselves a lot of bother if they just gave stage updates,  from the horse's mouth, rather than absolutely nothing

Fit and proper tests and due dilligence are and must remain confidential.
  • My guess

ESI waiting on removal of BETDAQ as an official sponsor as Takaful rules mean they can't take money (directly) from a gambling firm.  Which could be the 'strange' thing Bowyer was talking about.

So you think the delay is at ESI's doing? Nothing to do with due dilligence?

No necessarily the details, but just what stage they're at

Just my guess as to a potential delay.

Yes, but if no detail then all you could get is 'almost there' - 'nearly there' - 'very nearly there' and so on.

    I wondered that.

My best guess is that the EFL leaks like a sieve so they preferred to release the news themselves.
