For once, I would prefer a long, slow, boring wait for a "yes" from the EFL to a quick "yes". I want to know that, once the EFL decision is made, it's been made properly, with due diligence and following an appropriately-thorough investigation. That way, we will know the new owners are right for Charlton, instead of thinking it, as we did when Ducatelet took over.
Take your time, EFL. But give us the right answer.
Screw that I want it done and announced in the next 2 mins. Then I might be able to get some actual work done!

Haha! The EFL are a sack of shite. A slow boring yes won't mean anything except that they couldn't be arsed to authorise it earlier.
It would be extraordinary if someone in Nimer’s position and status was to get involved in anything either dodgy or without intention of genuine success. One thing we can be certain of is that unlike Slater and Jiminez he is not a chancer and unlike Duchatelet he is not barking mad.
I imagine Nimer is wealthy enough on his own to bankroll a promotion contending side. If we ever secured promotion, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw significant investment from people higher up than Nimer. Who really cares though, Roland’s gone and that’s all that matters for the foreseeable future!

Can't imagine the EFL turning down anyone with this kind of wedge. Neither can I imagine people with this amount of success and resources even making a bid unless they knew ahead of time that they'd meet with EFL approval. I say everybody should stop worrying.

Man city have sold 23 per cent of the club to Chinese and USA investors. They got near £600m.If we reach the premier ship our club is worth a lot more then today's value.
Lee Amis is @itsmyball on here, and he is a current visitor.
I met him once, I think around the the time the Spivs took over. Deffo a Charlton fan.
He said one thing to me that I didn't like the sound of "Every bid will be a property play".
Having said that he is (or was) a property guy himself. And every property guy I have ever met seems to have the attitude that monetising property is more important even than procreation.
But then again, if these guys are the real deal ( by which I mean competitive funding at Championship level for the next 2 years) and Lee brought them to the table, then we all owe him a pint.
Looking at it from an owners pov - what would they gain from selling a football ground for real estate in an expensive part of London, to buy an empty plot of land, in another more expensive part of London, to then outlay loads of dough to develop? It would surely make more sense to develop the current ground?
Well, what was on offer originally was the redesignation of a significant slice of former industrial land on the peninsula for residential development, generating eye-watering profits, with the cheaper and more constrained site at The Valley used to provide the required social housing element. The price was Charlton becoming the anchor tenant of a multi-use arena built at Morden Wharf. That was what Jimenez and Cash were involved in and is the reason they were here. Things have moved on since 2010 and the land availability on the peninsula is reduced, but at The Valley the issue is the high cost of - and practical and planning obstacles to - the development at the Jimmy Seed Stand end due to land and access issues.
Yeah, as a planning lawyer with some experience of dealing with development on the peninsula, I can't see how the Valley would be if any real interest even as a long term, strategic holding. There are plenty of sites in London much less problematic and profitable than the Valley.

Exactly the problems that Palace are now coming up against in the development of their new main stand - not least that they have been unable to persuade Sainsburys to sell them part of their car park, which Parish is suggesting they want several million pounds for.

Planning consent recently given for 8,500 homes on the Morden Wharf site.
Wasn't the multi-use arena deemed to be be an illusion as part of the scam that ended up with them in court?
The problem with The Valley is that the land behind the west stand was sold for housing. This may prevent another tier being added to that stand.
Its an unerring anticipation of Charlton snatching defeat from the jaws of victory that has conditioned us into a collective group of naysayers, doom mongers and wild fantasists talking billions and pulling stadiums on the Penninsular out if our arses!
Either way even if the money isn't what people believed, we wanted Roland gone and that's that. If they stabilise us and make us a consistent mid table championship team that treats their fans, players and staff correctly then that will do me for the foreseeable future

It's not Roland so it's much better and if we end up in the shit some other pony owner can come along
we may never ever see Marc Wilmotts as our manager....
It will almost be like last week again when the news comes through.

Well done Richard. Come good again 😌
