  • Bloody chuffed to bits for you.
    Cheers. We're pretty bloody chuffed too!

    Thank you. Still not sure what it all means other than it surely cannot be worse than Roland and has the potential to be the best ever so fingers crossed.

    I love the Championship and think it is the most competitive league in the world and it would be good to be competitive in it. Not fussed about the Premiership and would not like us to become a prawn sandwich club.

    Next time we meet maybe we will have our A team available. Hope you got home safely.

    Let’s throw 10 mil here, 15 mil there , 2 mil here etc etc... this is real money people 😂. There’s no way these new owners, regardless how rich they are will throw money away. They’re business men who got rich by being clever not throwing it around like it’s nothing.

    Secondly, how much can we realistically spend with FFP rules?
    That depends on why you buy a football club. If it’s to make money then you’ve got your work cut out. If it’s to have like a train set or for prestigious reasons so you can invite your rich mates then depending on just how rich you are you might well not mind throwing the cash around.
    It's generally believed that the big Middle East investments (in Citeh and PSG) as well as the desperate Qatar bid to get the World Cup are examples of political 'soft power' building. To put it crudely " we cannot be such bad guys that your press say we are, we are footie fans like you". I'm having a bit of trouble believing that Abu Dhabi reckons the world will look more favourably on it because it invested in Charlton Athletic, though. Unfortunately...

    Not starting from a particularly high base either.
    They really are complete imbeciles aren't they? It's actually quietly depressing that these people are allowed to mix in with the rest of civilisation - total pond-life.
    If you read the whole thread, some of them do make good comments. Leaving the Valley would be a concern with very rich owners.
  • Any unknowns in the director’s box today? ... sorry I forgot we were bought by a billionaire . Old habits....
    Still very disappointed at the lack of directors box photos.

  • Do we know if Muir got the wrong memo and tried to hand his red and white scarf back?
  • I don’t think we should make fun of the ozzies (difficult for a kiwi to say). They understood the fans and would have connected better with them than RD. Maybe never quite pulled the money together. They lost out,  we all move on.
    Agree we all move on.
    Still glad they missed out though

    Me too
  • Wonder if the Aussies will move on and try to buy someone else - Plenty of other clubs here in England who could do with the help - Coventry being one of them!!
  • I can't see why we should fail the EFL test unless our prospective new owner is either directly or indirectly involved in another club. Just because he may have family that owns clubs seems irrelevant.

    Associations between clubs:

    (a) either directly or indirectly being involved in, or having the power to determine or influence, the management or administration of another Club or Premier League Club unless a dispensation in respect of the same has been granted by the Board in accordance with Regulation 110;

    (b) either directly or indirectly holding or acquiring any Significant Interest in a Club while at the same time either directly or indirectly holding any interest in any class of shares or securities of another Club unless a dispensation in respect of the same has been granted by the Board in accordance with Regulation 110;

    Excuse my ignorance but I’ve missed that other family members own a club - who and which club?

    The Sheikhs who own Man City
    But then that could be why the Sheikhs arent on the board for us (whilst Nimer is)

    I don't want us singing about having loads of dosh. I remember Spurs fans doing that when they bought Paul Stewart. They sounded like wankers then and so would we now. We should just go about things quietly and with respect to other clubs, whilst remembering the last difficult decade.
    Exactly. For a start Gullivan will be tempted to double the asking price for Josh Cullen in the window, when they hear that.. Any excuse, with that shower, to extract maximum wedge.

    We were all pleased when Roland bought the club-- then look what happend! I would prfere to wait a year or so and see where we are then.

    RD was never seen in the fans bar, they are already in credit.
    He doesn't like house music

    Spot on, can you make a separate thread about this because that is EXACTLY what we should be doing.
  • Whilst we would all want to know that, I'm sure it will be played down. We don't want to find other clubs hike their prices. The picture will become clearer in February and after the summer window but also with players like Taylor staying and the management team extending their contracts.
