Wow, is this our new owner? Short interview I found on YT from a year ago. Speaks fluent English! Graduated from Colorado State University, in the US. I like the fact his colors are red and white. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XgvIXeRS9Q
It doesn't really matter does it? The big win is that he has cleansed us of Roland Duchatelet. Whoever the money is, he's paid a tidy sum to secure the future of the club and will have the funds under EFL directives to run us for five years at least. It does look like we will be able to compete financially in the Championship and for that we should all be grateful. We now need to show some respectful restraint towards the owner and be patient. As we have discovered, everything comes to he who waits.
I thought the EFL only required new owners to have funds for a minimum of two years?

I don't think they're will be a hold up on the question of whether he's got the dough.
I first heard the news of the takeover at 0930 yesterday morning and I wept uncontrollably for some 20 seconds and couldnt speak with any control to my wife for a similar period thereafter. All the pent up emotion of a 5 year old self exiled boycotter boiled over, with the recognition that I could resume a Saturday lifestyle that had previously consumed my life since 1953 and one that I doubted whether or not I would live long enough to witness that resumption. I immediately packed an overnight bag and drove the 90 miles to Charlton for an overnight stay. I am writing this at 0554 this morning, too excited to sleep.
I cant imagine that those supporters who chose to continue watching Charlton home games in the Duchatelet era (and this is NOT a dig at their stance) would experience an emotion-surge at them hearing the news because, putting it simply, very little changes. Their match day preparation for today and the next home game and the one after that is exactly the same as that for the last home game, the one before that and the one before that. Even less of an emotional surge for those who attended home games under the tired old mantra "support the team, not the regime". Simply put, it doesnt matter what the make up, or aspirations of any regime might be, they go only to support the team.
Finally, however you feel today, enjoy the game - I certainly will.
Fantastic post Pete.....and no doubt touched the hearts of many.
My personal moment of fame in the protests. Having my flag nicked by one of Meires plain clothes thugs who refused to show any ID and making it into a CARD video!
We were all pleased when Roland bought the club-- then look what happend! I would prfere to wait a year or so and see where we are then.
Derek, I understand your reservations, and I'm sure there will be things our new owners do over the next few years with which fans will disagree. But I think we should not inflict on them from the start the fan-distrust our last 2 owners so thoroughly earned! Let's get behind them and give them every opportunity to turn their professed good intentions into action. Time enough to start shouting "foul" if ever they do show themselves to be 2-faced. And of course they have ample evidence that Addicks won't sit back if that happens, which should give them food for thought as I am sure they want good publicity, not bad. These appear to be serious businessmen; not spivs, and not an ego-driven eccentric. I think we have to lend them our trust unless/until they show they no longer deserve it. But for my part, it that trust a loan, not a gift.
For the time being, let's all just enjoy the relief of seeing light at the end of this long tunnel, and stop assuming it's an oncoming train!

We were not all pleased at all
