Henry, I am willing to put a friendly £100 wager on point two, if you choose. Lemme know. We can settle up with a wire transfer, after the fact.
He purchased us for £20M (see article, below.) All the losses have been added to debt, for which he is earning 3% interest this whole time. Any new owners will have to take over all that debt. He will sell for more than £20M. Mark my words. Also, Lookman's profitable sale will count in this years books, as will Konsa, all of which he will probably pocket on the way out. He has many ways to sell for a profit.
Not trying to be argumentative, but I am pretty confident he will profit.
Of course it can get worse under the Belgians.. Here we are in the week ROT were formed I take it as in the hope it's the final nail in the coffin for the Belgians. But if they are still here in febuary we want them to bolster the squad in January.

I could be wrong, but at worst, I think RD would pull out some stops to keep us in L1, because he does understand that to go to L2 would bring our value way down.
People don't like to hear this, but even with the drop to L1, he will sell at a profit. I think he wants to protect that.
I'm saying this and no more. You say RD will sell at a profit. My understanding is that RD has so far spent in total apprx £55M on Charlton. So he will need to sell for more than £55M and the longer he stays the higher he would need to sell for.
So you believe RD will sell below £20M or take a debt haircut? I do not. Perhaps that is why this is dragging out so long.
I think so because his alternative is to lose more and more money on a business he has no further use for - and/or destroy its remaining value in the process.

Do you think a deal will happen within the next month or two?

People said the same about us getting relegated from the Championship. Roland would never let relegation to League One happen because he wants to protect his investment, the apologists said.
The truth is that Roland doesn't care enough to do anything about the situation.
As there is more than one party interested the claims that one has no money leaked by the other is hardly a game changer.
The bottom line is we are for sale and its likely to happen soon, good, because I for one dont think we are as good as we would like to think we are currently and were goibg onwhere fast with this lot.

My thoughts as soon as I read that post from NapaAddick.
Charlton were relegated and have subsequently failed to get back up not because Roland doesn’t care about his investment. It was because the plan that he had to run the football club was bollocks. He was told it was bollocks but it’s taken him until roughly now to realise himself that it was bollocks and can never work. On that basis he wants out pdq. He might want what it’s cost him back but any idiot and even he knows it’s not going to happen. He will sell and sell at a loss. Every month he resists selling is costing him money.
Someone sent me this, not saying where it’s come from or who the source is. I refuse to believe anything until I see it but it’s always wise to read what you hear. Anyway, I’ll leave it here:
***You are an absolute idiot if you think that this group are going to come along and bring back the glory days!
I have been told some stuff tonight in absolute confidence and I intend to make sure it stays that way so please out of respect don't even ask.
If this Australian consortium take over you can forget Championship football for a very long time.
As for the Premiership?? ...Not in my lifetime and probably not yours either.***
This is the most disturbing post I've ever read on this learned forum. What if it is true? What if we get our longed for takeover then end up with a worse situation than we have now, however unlikely that might seem? Brings a chill to my spine.
We were all jumping for joy and laughing at the "its happening" gif when the Spivs/Cockney Mafia left the building and a multi millionaire from Belgium walked in.
Look where we are now.
It will take seasons, not months to repair the damage RD has caused and we can only hope any new owner is up to it.
Were we ? One look at his history at Standard L was enough for some of us to be concerned ......... rightfully so as it turned out

Sorry, no bet as no way you can prove those figures or what he'll sell for.
1. You don't know it was £20m. I was told at the time it was £14m plus £1m fee to the agent. That was by a director but ! can't prove that, only what I was told. Airman makes a reasonable assumption that he took over the £18.6m debt and so that was the price he paid. There is written evidence for that.
2. The debt to RD, including the original debt is now over £55m. You say he will sell for more than £20m and the new owners take on the debt but they are the same thing. You are double counting.
So to make a profit the new owners will have to pay him over £55m and the club just isn't worth that much.
The dilemma for Duchatelet is that he either takes the loss now or carries on losing money while having annoying vinegar pissers standing against him in local elections etc etc etc.
But if the club is sold tomorrow the fee will be "undisclosed" in any case so no way to prove the bet but I stand by what I said that he won't make a profit and that is partially based on his own statement last week that he "hasn't made any money from football".
If the price he paid for the club was simply to take on the 18m debt then he only needs a bid more than the difference between the current debt and the 18m to make a profit?

The debt is to starprix now not CAFC I thought so would remain with him unless new owners bought it back?

Dear me, I hope you are not an accountant.
In his defence (what am I doing defending DOUCHER?) I think he is saying that if the current debt is around £53m and the starting debt was around £18m then a bid of more than £35m would turn a profit for RD.
Which I think is correct, but I can't see how the club is worth more than the £35m while it is in League 1 making a loss.

I would like to thank Doucher for sending me into tears of laughter at my desk this morning. Bravo.
I hear you, but it can get worse. Example... Coventry.
Yeah, let's sit on our arses and do nothing. League Two and worse beckons. There are far more positive takeover stories than negative. Look at Southampton and Palace for example.

Although problem is, RD doesn’t do logic!

If you say A then I have some magic beans I'd like to sell you.
Which I think is correct, but I can't see how the club is worth more than the £35m while it is in League 1 making a loss.
Are you selling the beans by weight or number? How much and does it include pp?
Are those magic beans being sold in pounds and ounces or in Kilos? We need to know before March 2019 so please post all answers on the Brexit thread

I think my move into the magic beans sector was a mistake. Who thought there would be so much regulation and red tape?
So I'm selling off all my beans for 1 bitcoin each. Inbox me for details.
