Roly I'm 21 years old, taken to my first game at the age of 3 and had a season ticket from the age of 6. I saw the best of the premier league years and saw the fall to league one. I still followed the boys every week through mid-table league one football. Nothing would make me stop attending. Not even uni. Until you arrived. This season is the first one when I haven't been regularly. This Saturday will be the first football for a fiver I haven't attended.
I have never worked for the club but I used to save every penny of my paper round in order to buy Charlton shirts or tickets when I was a kid. Literally never bought any sweets.

I've never worked for the club, nor had any ambition to do so. I'm happy being a fan as I have been since the early 60's when my Dad first took me, standing near the front of the giant terracing by the halfway line.
By the age of 11, I was going with my mates and standing behind the goal of the open end on what is now the Jimmy Seed stand. It didn't take us long to migrate to the Covered End and join the fun and antics there.
Moving on a few years, both my children started attending games and even my wife had a season ticket for a while. I now have a grandson who proudly wears a Charlton kit at school amongst the myriad of Chelsea, ManU, Arsenal shirts etc. I just hope he has a club to follow in the future.
So ... not a club employee at any stage!
As for being rebellious and rowdy? I could definitely lay claim to that in the past, but the club never 'showed me the door' for it.
I'm 19 years old and first went to a Charlton game at Highbury and no, I've never been employed at the club!
My Mum and Dad had separated soon after I was born and I lived with my Mum. That side of the family were all Arsenal fans so I actually supported Arsenal in that game, aged 4. Around the age of 5/6 my parents got back together and my dad soon took care of my footballing allegiances - I have been going to The Valley ever since and am proud to be a 4th generation Addick.
I couldn't care less about being in the Premier League etc. My favourite 2 seasons were winning League 1 and then finishing 9th the following year. Such togetherness, fighting together, a real bond between players, staff and fans.
Success is irrelevant to me. Competence, effort and spirit are what matters and you have disintegrated that completely. There are many things more important than football but what you have done to this club and what you have done to the hearts of the people who care about about it, is nothing short of a disgrace.
I'll be in Belgium, like I have twice before, in the hope that you leave.
Love that post Joe. (Actually love all the other posts too).
Hello Roland. I'm 30, I don't protest and am almost completely unconcerned with what league we're in as long as we're playing half-decent stuff, so in theory I'm your perfect Charlton fan - young(ish) and compliant. I just want a local football club, a social hub, a representation of my area to support, and have done so for a relatively short 17 years. Again, all of these things would seem to make me your ideal sort of fan.
However, I look around me and I notice the sheer anger, frustration and sadness in the faces and words of those who've been following Charlton for a lot longer than me, and I do wonder - if it's come to this, haven't you fucked up somewhere, just a little?
I won't be in Belgium but I'm quite interested in your response to those who will.

You must be talking about me. In 1966 I worked as a casual on the North terrace turnstiles. I was dismissed for dereliction of duty when I abandoned my post so I would not miss the first 20 minutes of a relegation decider against Manchester City and calling the supervisor a tosser, or words to that effect.
We had a crap team then, but at least we could always dream of a miracle, with you at the helm we can't even raise the enthusiasm to even dream.
But honestly I don't hold a grudge and am only supporting the protest because you are a senile, demented egomaniac, throttling the life out of my club.
Congratulations! It was like a murder mystery evening, that. Who'd have thought that Dippenhall would have turned out to be the rebellious rowdy one?:

Oi what you saying about me?!
I don't wear glasses!
Bit of a geek though...
Don't you moan about noise in the library? :-)
Wait till you're in final year sonny!
2 more years of doss and alcohol before that mate.

I'm Neil. I've supported the Addicks since my dad first took me in 1973, and I fell in love with the team that drew 0-0 with Bournemouth. I live in Spain now, but I also live for Charlton. I follow the match commentaries on here. I rise with the wins and sink into gloom with the defeats. You have not managed to sever my love for the club, as living abroad, I don't get to see the barbarities you and your minion have wreaked on the team I love, but I hold you and Katrien in utter contempt for the ongoing and senseless destruction you are doing. I have never worked for the club, never been sacked, or rejected or slung out. You need to go. You are everything bad about eccentric millionaires indulging their whimsey's on things they care nothing about. I won't be in Belgium as I cannot get there, but I am proud of those going, as they travel to your back yard to demonstrate a passion and a love for Charlton that you cannot imagine or begin to grasp. You offer nothing. Your achievements at the Valley are embarrassing. How can you spend money and progressively make things so much worse. Sell, and never darken our door again.
I have in fact officially worked for Charlton... but just for one night.
I was asked to bang some bird on the pitch. Was annoying as they originally said I would be interviewed for the head coach position when the current coach gets sacked.
Unfortunately I wasn't quite good enough for that particular role.
However I'm not going to the unity protest.
It looks like it will be relatively fun and I wish the protesters all the best.
Hi Know It All, The problem is not anybody else who no longer works for this club, the problem is that YOU no longer work for THIS club. You never have. You have never had its interests at heart only your own selfishness You are not at all impressive.
I'm Alison. My Mum and Dad were born and brought up in Charlton, both of their families supported Charlton. My Mum was from a really poor family so could only get in to see the matches after half time when the gates were left open. My Dad's family were better off and had a grocers shop in Charlton. Dad's Granddad and Uncle were directors of Charlton back in the 1920s. Dad told me that sometimes they would pay the players from the till. Happy days Roland.
So Charlton is part of my family, it's roots and identity. I've been a season ticket holder for many years - that is until last year. You are the reason I have stopped going to watch the team I love. You are ruining our club and, unkind though it may sound, I just want you to go.
I shall be there next Weekend Roland. I'll be carrying a banner with some fellow WARriors. Look out for us if you can.
Oh Mr Duchatelet, You may have millions in the bank but the one thing you need most in life is common sense and although you may be able to buy most things this you cannot. Surely you can see the damage you are doing to CAFC and your continued support of a CEO who is so out of her depth it is almost embarrassing. I have followed MY club for over 50 years and have been a season ticket holder for a large number of these years. My late father has to take responsibility for introducing me to football at the Valley and I know he would be so sad to see what you have done to this great club. Despite my best efforts my own kids have chosen not to get "Addickted" so I will have to hope I can persuade my grandchildren to come to the Valley one day but rest assured it will not happen until you have gone. You have obviously lived a very good and successful life so why don't f--k off and let the rest of us get on with ours without forever wondering what part of CAFC you are going to ruin next. And just in case you were wondering.........no I have never been employed by the club in any capacity. Hope to see you in St Truiden on March 4th as I am never likely to see you in SE7.
I'm Peter. Started supporting Charlton in 1947 when I was 10 and after we won the cup. Moved to Australia in 1970 but never ever stopped supporting my team. Mr Duchatelet, remember you are merely the custodian of this great club and the sooner you relinquish that honour the better. Unfortunately I was never employed by the club, paid or unpaid, but unlike you I was and am proud to be a supporter/
Me names Paul. Never worked for Charlton as statistically (Hi Driesen) I'm not very good at football. however saying that even though I've got a bad back and I've been smoking and drinking (partly because of being a Charlton fans) for near on 15 years I still think I'm a better footballer than Lepoint (sorry Gent fans)
My Dad has supported Charlton since the mid 60's and I started going to Charlton as a kid back in 1992. I still go to most home matches and some away matches but don't let that fool you. I made my mind up on you back when you sold Kermorgant. my (and my Dads) hatred towards you and most of the team around you has unfortunately flourished in the toxic atmosphere that you have created at the club.
Find a decent buyer and sell the club for a fair price. do the same with all the other clubs you own. leave football as a failure but at least with some self respect.
Dear Roland. Myself and my family have never been employed by the club. However we (myself, husband, son and daughter) were, until recently, season ticket holders for about 20 years. Our Son’s wife and our Daughter’s husband both joined us as Season ticket holders .for many years.
You have destroyed not only the club that we love, but also our dream of taking our grandchildren to their first Charlton match.
As soon as you sell OUR club we will buy season tickets and hire a hospitality box for all the family to celebrate. We will be in Belgium on 4th March and are delighted to be able to support the protests against you.
Roland, my first game at the Valley was with my Dad in the 1970's where I saw Derek Hales score goal of the season. He's a legend and synonymous with Charlton Athletic. When we had a lot of fans, before you rocked up...obviously, we used to carry a huge flag of Hales around the ground before kick off. You might know some of this if you ever bothered to show your face. I realise it's a bit of a chore for you getting to games. My son has been coming since he was 4 and really fell in love with the club last time we were in League One. It's ironic that he's falling out of love with Charlton now we're back there. Thanks for that!
I'm involved with CARD and can tell you I have never worked for the club. I wasn't brainwashed or manipulated by any core activists, in fact it was you and Meire and your actions that drove me into protesting for the first time in my life. I want to watch a Charlton that have heart, ambition and a manager and players that are as proud as we are of "our" club. Not quite sure what we've done to deserve such incompetent, arrogant and spiteful people such as you and Meire, but as you can see the fans have a lot more invested in Charlton than you do.
I hope this thread is never ever allowed to die. My heart strings have been well and truly twanged I can tell you and I'll be thinking of you in Belgium.
I'm a supporter of nearly 70 years never more so than now.
My name is Terry I first watch Charlton in 1950 at the age of 5 I worked for the club selling lottery tickets for about 3 years in the 1980's. Stood as a candidate for the Valley Party in 1990 and stop watching Charlton after you sacked Chris Powell PLEASE LEAVE THIS CLUB NOW
Roland, since Dad starting taking me in 75 I've been hooked, family brothers and sisters have all laughed and cried at times, friends have been made, all thanks to Charlton, it is plainly clear you are not the correct owner for this club.
1st game 1968, lost 4-3 to Millwank, season ticket holder at the Valley, Selhurst & Upton Park + the Valley thereafter, not been a season ticket holder for a few years due to living a few miles away until this season, wouldn't let us re-new our box, something to do with sponsoring the Card shirts. Detest the bloody owners.
Hi Roland I'm Matt. I've never worked for the club, so my grudge against you is purely and simply because you are a clueless arsehole who is ruining something he doesn't understand. Off you fuck.
I'm David. I'm 27 and have been a season ticket holder for the last 11 years, but never worked for the club. My mum and dad took me to my first Charlton game in the late 1990s and I was immediately spellbound by the Valley. I used to feel sick before kick off, with the excitement of the game to come, and would get to The Valley at least an hour before kick off - heart pumping. I have followed the club through the last League 1 relegation, still feeling like this - still in love with my club. Your clear disinterest and lack of any ambition for success is killing our club. All fans want is an ownership that wants to succeed on the pitch. We can accept failure - and are used to it - as long as we know the club is actually trying to achieve: that the possibility of future success is alive. With you at the helm - only interested in asset stripping - we know that can never happen. It couldn't be clearer that success on the pitch is far from your mind. I can't make the trip to Belgium but I hope you get the message loud and clear. This is a proud and historic club that deserves much better. The Valley has become a soulless, empty place and it is devastating to witness. I can't wait to see The Valley rocking, celebrating in a carnival atmosphere at your departure and our victory. Time to go.
Mr Duchatelet, I have never worked for Charlton, although I have held a season ticket since 1973. You sir, are a discredited liar and failure, not only in your football business, but also as a human being. I shall be visiting your home town on the 4th March and I should be most grateful, if you would come and say hello, because I would like you to know what the footballing world thinks of you, you utter disgrace of a human being.
