Even if we win this to re-kindle hope we will follow it up with some more fuck ups to quash them. We need to win 5 or 6 on the spin. Can anybody honestly see that happening ?
So to some extent another false dawn with a win , will not actually make much difference. Having said this I think it's return to the usual 1-1.
according to the 'Rochdale Observer' dated Saturday 18th (they are psychic up here, but they do not give the result of tomorrow's game .. Rochdale 5, CAFC 0), the pitch at Spotland has been totally re-laid and will be in use for the first time tomorrow, expect a snooker table finish then .. it'll need to be in good nick as Rochdale Hornets play RL v Hull K R on Sunday .. make a change from the turnip field we endured at Oldham on Tuesday
also a chap (Ed Wood) who's doing a sponsored (for Prostate Cancer research) 93 (92 + Berwick) English + Welsh FL and Premier grounds in record time, completes his task tomorrow @ Rochdale .. it'll beat the old record of 237 days by a remarkable 48 days .. Guinness W R will be on hand to honour the occasion .. that's the latest hot news from your ee oop ba goom Lancashire correspondent
After the last 3 performances and results since Bolton away, they need to take a long, hard look at themselves and ask if they really do want to play at a higher level. Because to take 2 points from Fleetwood, Wimbledon and Oldham at this stage of the season is nothing short of ridiculous for the players we have.
Right now I believe that the season is over, there's far too much to claw back, had we had even the 4 extra points from not conceding late goals from those, I would be a lot more positive.
Time is running out and fast, if they want any chance of having a go at getting to the play offs, they have to win the next two games.
How I'd go, but there's no chance of it happening..:
Love the look of that line up but (and nothing against the two) I just dont see Aribo and Konsa being dropped.
Neither have done anything wrong to be dropped either but we need that little bit of experience they dont have right now.
That's exactly my thinking as well, both have done fantastically well since coming into the team.
Konsa has played so many games this season, he could do with a rest, he is also very versatile so if we were to have either Solly, Bauer, Tex, Crofts, or Forster-Caskey injured, you know he will be able to come in and do the job.
Similar to Aribo, you know that if any of the 3 behind Magennis got injured, he could slot into midfield nicely.
Both have done brilliantly, but Robinson has said himself they're still learning the game and so a little bit more experience is needed now to get the result we need. Young legs like them on the bench is great to have.
The line up and the bench also seems to be a bit better balanced than what Robinson has put out of late. Time to be wise and go for it at the same time. Revert back to partnerships you know can work, Solly and Holmes, Bauer and Tex, Page and Chicksen. The spine looks better too.
Being big headed, my team 2-0 win. Otherwise I do fear for another poor result.
Just out of curiosity I checked to see how many games Dele Alli played for MK Dons the season prior to leaving for Spurs... 39-League games he appeared (out of 46-games) so its not in Robinson's nature to rest kids.
Interesting that he doesn't seem to rest them. That could of course be down to Alli's obvious talent that he felt he was too good to leave him out. Possibly the same with Konsa but not anything like the same level.
Playing so many games at such a young age can really hinder their development long term, just I get cautious about the management of the younger players sometimes. You wouldn't put them on the same training plan as what you would with the older players, like Tex or Crofts for example. But in football you see it too often, just needs to be more tailored to them individually, that's just where I am coming from too as well as feeling we need that experience for a positive result away at Rochdale.
Always appreciate these @ForeverAddickted. I think it's time to drop Crofts and bring in Konsa as the holding midfielder, playing Bauer and Tex in central defense. I think Konsa provides the protection for JFC to get forward. I'd also play Holmes on the right and Watt from the left, although I could see Aribo being dropped after a long run of games--his first in the first team--bringing in Mavididi or Chicksen on the left.
Dunno... I still think that Crofts is one of our more consistent performers (in a good way rather being consistently rubbish) - He's that experienced type player we need in the squad and if you take him out you've only really got Chris Solly in that category.
Fair, but I'm thinking we need a bit more dynamism in midfield. Crofts is solid, but I feel like in games where teams sit deep he isn't as useful.

Nope. Even if we had the team to win 5 or 6 on the spin, bad luck would inevitably intervene.
Here's my Trust preview. I worked out while doing some research for it that we've only scored six goals from open play in Robinson's 13 games in charge (or 14 if you count Sheffield United), which is hardly impressive for a manager who likes his teams to play "attractive football". I might not mind so much if we'd managed more than three wins.

Interesting research and a poor reflection on our football.

Couldn't disagree more. With the Current system we play the Crofts role is central to it all working. We don't really have wingers more inside forwards. So we rely on the fullbacks to provide the width. Particularly when teams let us come at them the fullbacks have to overlap and become the extra man. Crofts is excellent at knowing when he needs to drop in alongside the centre backs to provide cover. It's much more difficult to do than it seems.
He also acts as a 'quarter back' in that role. When teams sit deep he is the point for starting attacks. He spreads the ball left and right as we try and find a way through. It's like a basketball team in that respect.
We don't have the right players to play 4231 but the one player who is perfect for it is Crofts. He struggled in a midfield 2 but I think he has been excellent since KR came in.
Tuesday's defeat really means that finally our season is over which is great credit to our owners. The first year Powell was in charge we had a dismal defeat at Rochdale and the same thing will happen this week. 2-0 to the Dale and unlike then I just cannot see a summer of promotion team building...
I'll drop in at the bookies on the way there to bet us winning 1-0 at half time and conceding in 90+2 (it's the new 44). Our play-off hopes up in smoke - oh well!
I have waved him off at Euston on his way to Rochdale, he sniggered as I wandered off down to Kings Cross. North Ferriby v Dover is my entertainment today.

Excellent preview by the way @ForeverAddickted
3-1 loss
Rochdale are there for the taking but we aren't clinical enough
Robinson sacked before May.

Death, taxes and O'Loughlin becomes manager one day.
It was so much fun when Fraeye was in charge, we'll be able to relive it all over again!

Come on Charlton!
Beer is very reasonable so the Elf is content.
Not too late for you to get up here!
