we can't risk Konsa in central defence anymore, he should be in midfield replacing Aribo who looked out of sorts at Oldham .. Tex alongside Bauer to take care of the potentially dangerous Andrew, dangerous as a goal scorer and as a man who does like to give a bit with his elbows .. Magennis needs to get in form and to get some decent service .. be good to see him alongside Watt and Holmes from the start .. we need to attack (same old tune from me) as we need the three, one just won't do anymore .. we are starting games far too slowly, need to get in gear, fired up, stuck in and speed up from the start because we all know that Rochdale will be well up for this as they are not in the best of form themselves .. haven't seen enough of Page (who has) to have an opinion .. I'd keep Chicksen at left back
Suddenly, from 30000 feet high we don't seem to look so hopeless. 3:0 victory especially for the Aussie. Oh, there... I can just spot Belgium from here... Oi
Always appreciate these @ForeverAddickted. I think it's time to drop Crofts and bring in Konsa as the holding midfielder, playing Bauer and Tex in central defense. I think Konsa provides the protection for JFC to get forward. I'd also play Holmes on the right and Watt from the left, although I could see Aribo being dropped after a long run of games--his first in the first team--bringing in Mavididi or Chicksen on the left.
Rochdale will try to batter us (not in a deep fried way) because division one clubs have sussed that that´s where our weakness lies. If they let us play pretty football we´ll have a chance. Rough us up and we´re too fragile to compete. Chicksen, Konsa, and even Bauer, are slightly lightweight. Even Tex is hardly a beast. Solly, despite his size, is probably as close as we have to a rugged defender.

Still optimistic though for some reason.
Rochdale played some decent football in their win at the Valley.
But they have a lot of players out and are on a bad run.
We need to shore up the defence from the arial bombardment we are likely to receive, so I would play Teixeira alongside Bauer. ( as I would have done against Oldham). I would still like to play Konsa, but can't see where I could fit him into that formation. Perhaps give Aribo and Konsa a half each?

I should think 'The President' has given KR strict instructions to play Konsa and Aribo at every opportunity to increase their exposure to scouts and their values so do not expect either to be dropped, even if they do need the rest!

Dunno... I still think that Crofts is one of our more consistent performers (in a good way rather being consistently rubbish) - He's that experienced type player we need in the squad and if you take him out you've only really got Chris Solly in that category.

That's reassuring, because the one thing that Charlton are good at is getting a result against a team that's out of form, I just wish that the result we normally get would not be a loss.
need to get a win as playoffs aren't out of reach and would show that this side has some fight in it, also need a win so i don't have to listen to anymore of rentagob's bullshit excuses afterwards.
After the last 3 performances and results since Bolton away, they need to take a long, hard look at themselves and ask if they really do want to play at a higher level. Because to take 2 points from Fleetwood, Wimbledon and Oldham at this stage of the season is nothing short of ridiculous for the players we have.
Right now I believe that the season is over, there's far too much to claw back, had we had even the 4 extra points from not conceding late goals from those, I would be a lot more positive.
Time is running out and fast, if they want any chance of having a go at getting to the play offs, they have to win the next two games.
How I'd go, but there's no chance of it happening..:

Love the look of that line up but (and nothing against the two) I just dont see Aribo and Konsa being dropped.
Neither have done anything wrong to be dropped either but we need that little bit of experience they dont have right now.
That's exactly my thinking as well, both have done fantastically well since coming into the team.
Konsa has played so many games this season, he could do with a rest, he is also very versatile so if we were to have either Solly, Bauer, Tex, Crofts, or Forster-Caskey injured, you know he will be able to come in and do the job.
Similar to Aribo, you know that if any of the 3 behind Magennis got injured, he could slot into midfield nicely.
Both have done brilliantly, but Robinson has said himself they're still learning the game and so a little bit more experience is needed now to get the result we need. Young legs like them on the bench is great to have.
The line up and the bench also seems to be a bit better balanced than what Robinson has put out of late. Time to be wise and go for it at the same time. Revert back to partnerships you know can work, Solly and Holmes, Bauer and Tex, Page and Chicksen. The spine looks better too.
Being big headed, my team 2-0 win. Otherwise I do fear for another poor result.

Just out of curiosity I checked to see how many games Dele Alli played for MK Dons the season prior to leaving for Spurs... 39-League games he appeared (out of 46-games) so its not in Robinson's nature to rest kids.

The misery is relentless - this is week 2 of 5 consecutive weeks of Saturday/Tuesday fixtures. My pessimistic prediction prior to the Wimbledon game of a maximum of 8 points from the remaining 6 February fixtures is looking depressingly accurate.
Remember when a crowd of 14,000 was considered low and we used to think of players like Bryan Hughes as being not very good? Who could have predicted back in January 2005 that we could ever find ourselves in such a pitiful state?!
Anyway, back in the bleak reality of 2017, we're long overdue a 1-1 draw. Rochdale are on a poor run of form which has dented their play-off aspirations, whilst we can play with the relaxed panache of a side that doesn't have another meaningful fixture until next August. Gold star to anyone travelling up to Spotland - when we're 6-0 up at Old Trafford in February 2025 despite fielding a weakened side ahead of our Champions League trip to the Camp Nou, you'll appreciate it all the more for knowing that you were there in our very darkest hours.

Yes they did, and we were fairly dire. Can't remember the name but they had a decent midfielder who seem to run the show.

The thing is Mr largo and there's probably not many like me, But I will get the same Buzz at 7am at bromley south going to Rochdale as I would going to man u ,Liverpool or man city.

I think there's plenty like that, up to a point. The first spell in League 1 under Parky and then Powell, I loved going to places like Exeter, Bury, Bristol Rovers, etc, just as much as I enjoyed going to Old Trafford and Highbury. Even though the football wasn't great, those are some of my favourite memories as a Charlton fan. It was a totally different scenario though - when we first went down, we were skint but we'd put together the very best squad we could manage with our limited resources. We had a few ropey players, but I never booed them because I knew that they were the best we could afford - from the board down, the clear aim was to try and get back up. That's not the case now, and I can't muster any enthusiasm to spend a whole day and a load of money watching a club where any small success is despite the people in charge rather than because of them.
I wasn't a massive fan of Phil Parkinson but I respected him. He brought in Gary Borrowdale on loan and paid his wages out of his own pocket, because he felt that could make the difference between success and failure. Contrast that with the scenario now - the richest owner that this club has ever, ever had and we've just sold a player for £8million or thereabouts and replaced him with a couple of free transfers and a loan signing. It wasn't bad luck that got us relegated and it isn't bad luck that's put us 13th in League 1. It's a direct consequence of consistently fielding a side that's got no depth, very little quality and is full of players that have either been signed on the cheap or chucked into the side from the youth team before they're ready. I can't even take any pleasure in the development of the likes of Konsa - he's got all the makings of a great player, but the better he gets, the more inevitable it becomes that we sell him in the summer and Roland pockets the cash.
Sometimes when I think we're playing so poorly, we win unexpectedly. So 1-2 to Charlton.
It's the hope that kills you.
This is my hope too. I'll go for a 3-1 win, but it's purely a heart over head decisión. If I was betting money, I would go the other way. For me Robinson needs to try a different approach - the división know what he will do every week, so maybe he could try a variation. That's where my predicyion comes from.
