South Africa must be hating Broad right now1
-
Ha ha!
Cracking six from Jimmy to take us over 450!1 -
What the absolute fuck, Jimmy2

This is the perfect 10th wicket partnership. Scoring quick. Slapping the ball around. Making the bowlers look shit. Saffers must be furious.2

And lordromford picks up the last wicket........lordromford said:This is the perfect 10th wicket partnership. Scoring quick. Slapping the ball around. Making the bowlers look shit. Saffers must be furious.

Never in my time have I seen Jimmy Anderson charge down and wallop it over cow corner for six.1 -
Not at all. That wicket had been coming since Jimmy strolled out. It would have been a great partnership if they'd made 20 in 30 balls. As it happens, they made about 40 in about 25. Terrific work.Addick Addict said:

(Ok, maybe 'perfect' was a bit much.)

He's had a curious batting career, I guess than other than his brief spell opening, No 6 is the highest he's ever batted normallyAddick Addict said:Yet another fine innings from Moeen Ali and a shame that he didn't make another hundred. Surely he must be our greatest ever batsmen when batting at 7 or lower?
Overall average - 36.62 (63 innings/ 7 not outs)
Batting at 1-6 - average 26.27 (30 innings / 0 not outs)
Batting at 7 - average 87.75 (11 innings / 3 not outs)
Batting 7-9 - average 47.04 (33 innings / 7 not outs)
33 innings in that lower position is no small sample (albeit 7 not outs) especially as it forms more than half of his overall outings at the crease.
I guess going at 7 gives him the freedom to chance his arm, and attack tiring bowlers0 -
He's opened 6 times and batted once at 3. But he has batted 12 times at 4/5 and 11 times at 6.killerandflash said:

Today's player's lunch at Lords. Reassuring in a world of protein shakes and dietary supplements to see chips and Cheery bakewell with custard still on the menu!3

If Dawson is England's best spinner then I am Old Colfeians'0

I will leave it to your team mates to fill in the blank.Leuth said:If Dawson is England's best spinner then I am Old Colfeians' - - - - -

'biggest hitter'0
-
But seriously, he isn't the long-term answer, he's not even the short-term answer. If you don't want a wrist-spinner then there's always Rayner or Leach0
-
No idea why Dawson is on before Stokes and Moeen either0
-
They've said that Moeen's role is no longer really as a bowler, and that's probably fair, but he's no worse than Dawson ffs0
-
Dawson has the look and demeanour of the bad guy from The Incredibles1

And the bowling figures0

99th wicket for Moeen0

Knotty ?Addick Addict said:The only comparable batsman I can think of is Adam Gilchrist who averaged 46.62 when batting at 7/8

Ali gets Elgar caught by Ballance.
So, goes the chance of both debutant captains making a century in the same Test for the first ever.1 -
Faster to 100 wickets and 2000 runs than Botham!
Only Tony Greig faster for England0 -
I had the pleasure of seeing JP Duminys first ever first class innings for Western Province v Northerns (I think it was Northerns)0
-
I had the pleasure of seeing Ravi Bopara's debut professional appearance, run out without facing2
-
4 down Broad gets Duminy0
-
Broad 2 for 11 from 9 overs.
Bowling superb.0 -
I'm going on Sunday, and want to watch a day's cricket
England need to get Dawson bowling again!0
