The key in all this is not if Lookman is sold because of course he will be at some point in the near future, it's whether or not they let KR use any of the funds to strengthen the team. Yet to be convinced that will happen. Maybe Bevington will be able to clarify it for us.
Sharp end of the season approaching with the team five places from the playoffs. I think RD knows that he has to invest in January otherwise this season will just drift away. I think money will be available to Robinson regardless of any sale of Lookman but I wouldn't expect any money made specifically from Lookman to add to the already agreed budget other than a relatively small amount as a replacement is needed if a loan back were not to happen.
Next five league games will tell us if we will even be in with a shout of the play offs. Peterbough and Bristol Rovers at home, Millwall, Southend and MKD away. Three of those teams are currently above us, Millwall have the hoodoo on us and MKD won today under a new Manager. By Jan 2nd we will have a better clue as to where our season is heading and whether RD will spend.
In my opinion Lookie will go and with the Club on the verge of a sale (its the hope that kills you) Roland won't back Robinson in the market. Expect at least another season of turgid League One football.
RD knows that he has to get Charlton back into the championship. No money to be made even as a player farm down amongst the dead men in league one. He will give KR money in January. Of that I have no doubt.
Don't think selling is even on his radar.
What makes you think that about giving him money in January? I like your optimism but I'm finding it hard to see it happening. It costs more in January market than summer and the track record from our mob is woeful. I'd be surprised if we spend that much, hopefully KR can pick a couple up in midfield that can improve us. I hope you're right though.
Regarding selling, I really have no idea but they're hardly gonna make it known they are trying to sell. There are rumours from another thread that a company has been instructed to look for a sale but then the hiring of an up and coming manager seems at odds with that, the whole thing is baffling.
There will be money made available because there has to be. It's quite obvious that the current best eleven won't get us promoted. Defence is solid and attack will score goals if given the ammunition. There for everyone to see is our problem. We either change that by getting in some better central midfielders or we stay where Robinson is likely to get us with the current group. My guess about ninth or tenth.
That will not pay the bills for RD so there will be money.
As for not selling. He said that it's not for sale to Robinson. I believe him.

It doesn't really matter what he says to be honest. They will say the club is not for sale until the day they announce it has been sold.

I'm sure that's probably true but isn't it very difficult these days to keep something that tightly wrapped that nothing leaks out ?
My guess is that the club is genuinely not for sale and I suspect if promotion is acheived in the next year or two it will give impetus to the madcap Duchatelet plan and validate his belief that his scheme is back on track. Everything that has gone on before was just teething.

I think that Duchatelet's original 'mad cap plan' has been ditched .. without any specific 'proof' other than the appointment of an English manager, a stop to importing useless European players into the club and just a feeling on my part of a sense of renewed stability about the club, I consider Duchatelet has changed tack and now has a much better understanding of both English football as a business and as a 'culture' .. I hope so, BUT of course, only time will tell
I think there are two ways to take what Robbo said about Lookman. Obviously most have plumped for the worst case scenario.
I took it that he had shown Lookman what you need to even play in the Championship and Robbo has explained to him where he comes up short, where he needs to improve and how he can help him to do that.
No doubt he hopes that Lookman decides that his immediate future lies with us. He also describes Lookman as very intelligent, maybe because he agreed?
I conclude this as coincidently, that is how I describe people who agree with me.
Unless a really good offer comes in I think he will stay with us. If he does go, the price had better be published or I will conclude that KM has lied about us keeping him.
