Let's not forget that Rudd is really good too

Yes for sure but still rather have Phillips in goal , home grown etc
  • New manager , but same old shit . We simply don't have a good enough squad of players.

There have been signs of what his side can do!! Beating Bristol Rovers away 5-1 , but to name one!!
  • League One this season is weaker than it has been for a while imo
  • Didn't go. Seems to have been a non event - but to be honest who cares about the FA Cup when you're in League One? We need to concentrate on winning League games.

To that end bit worried to read in The Sunday Times today that Robinson wants to change the way the team plays. After back to back wins under Nugent + O'Loughlin, including a 5-1 away........why not keep them and keep it the same?

Rubbish first half in which no one apart from Phillips and Lookman for the chance he gave to Ajose who fluffed his lines, worth their wages. Konsa after a very poor start to the game was withdrawn from the 'action' on the half hour following a head injury.

Second half more effort and desire which wasn't difficult to show based on what had gone before. Back four with Tex replacing Konsa was more solid and Fox did his bit having been turned inside out on more than one occasion first half. CBs solid with Bauer best defender quick off the mark to snuff out danger. Midfield still the weakest part of the team, far too many misplaced passes and with two offensive players in Lookman and Botaka, is easily outmanoeuvred although the latter, who's decision making was poor, did more closing down. Up front Magennis was more his old self second period but Ajose oh dear oh dear; I really want him to do well but the more I see him the more he disappoints. Chances came and went for both sides and a draw in the end was a fair result.

If KR who incidentally must have missed a quarter of the game turning round talking to his back room staff and anyone else who wanted to listen, favours his 4-2-3-1 formation Ajose will be getting splinters on the bench with Lookman, Botaka and ANother behind Magennis.

A tough run of games now follow and KR has his work cut out with the players currently at his disposal to play his 'way'. He's very enthusiastic, extremely keen to be liked and get everybody onside, can't fault him for that but as we all know the Douchbag doesn't do failure and results will ultimately determine his length of tenure, probably end of this season.

Spot the old mans double mistake :-)

I did wonder if we had someone back in on loan, though our initial right back did look like Konsa and did play with his youthful enthusiasm and errors.

Doh, (duly edited) Konsa of course, no excuses except to say he'll be off to greener pastures sooner rather than later the same as Gomez
  • Sir Chris Powell. Probably the best Charlton full back I've seen, and also the most one footed.

Fox got forward well and into good positions but just wasn't used.
  • refreshing to hear KR views around the tactics in his post match interview

Sir Chris Powell. Probably the best Charlton full back I've seen, and also the most one footed.

    Bloody cheek.

  • Phillips: His teammates owe him again, bigtime.
Konsa: Clearly not a full back - mystifying selection
    Fox: not stretched today
Bauer: not helped by the weakness to his right
Pearce: average for him i.e. not good enough can he not tackle a player for the ball? Oi Pearce it's not a wrestling match!
    Lookman: ok
    Crofts: not nearly good enough
    Ulvestad: ok
Botaka: his best game yet - which is the apotheosis of feint praise
Magennis: still our best outfield player by a country mile
Ajose: not as heinous as last week
Teixeira: no more a full back than Konsa and understandably rusty
Robinson: baffling selection of non-specialists at right full back, was Foley unavailable? If so Fox is a full back and right footed plus Chicksen is a left-full back who has played a lot more first team than Tex. Sticking on a couple of subs with barely minutes to go very nearly cost us as well.

It was definitely a compliment. The man is my hero.
  • Well that was a sobering experience, went with my two sons, who were not impressed, either with the team performance, the atmosphere ( moon aside) and the very sad entertainment value. My sons are going to the Millwall match and stated that if they put in a shift like that, they will get crucified.
God knows how many times Adjose got 'knocked' off the ball, and there No 10 seemed to be able to stroll about at will first half, almost without challlenge.? Two poor teams, a game for the diehards. So sad to see the Valley like this, highlight of the day was the 'discussion' I had with the fan outside the carpark, about the 'regime' beforehand. He was telling me that he thought Roland was 'turning it around'!..... at least he showed some passion, which was more than I could see at the Valley this afternoon.

Rolland HAS turned it round. We were heading for clear water, now we're on a lee shore in a force 12 hurricane with our engines broken and no rudder.
  • Day started badly when I was asked to pay £2.20 for my Bovril ! Got worse when I watched MKD playing all the football, and Charlton ignoring the chance to use the flanks. I could only hope that MKD were reflecting the influence of Karl,s coaching.
At least his words at halftime produced a very different second half, and overall I was most impressed by Phillips. At any other Club our Hopeless CEO would have been kicked out long ago !

First visit to the Valley for a long time, and it was a really depressing experience. 7 hours driving for an awful game, and a very low key atmosphere (I don't think the home fans sang one song) Really sad to see the East Stand shut, I went to the first game back at the Valley, and remember all the excitement and happiness. What have they done to our great club? My lad, who is keen to go to away games, said he didn't want to go back to the Valley again. Says it all really.

I thought the East Stand (Terrace?) was shut for our first game back.
The East Stand didn't exist for a season or so. There was a walkway across it which was the way of getting to the Jimmy Seed Stand.

Exactly the point I was trying to make in response to the post. Thank you.

    Fox right footed?

    Fox is totally left footed

Afraid I see no evidence of turning it around, in fact I fear for the future of the club as was.
The other fan had been following CAFC for 50 years, he is entitled to his opinion, I just do not see how he comes to that conclusion.

  • If Holmes was fit, I'd love to see Lookman play off Magennisdown the middle.

Tex still looks very classy despite not having appeared in 1st team (I think?) this season.
How many of our players can do the pre substitution bounce as well as Tex....
