  • This is based on the 2nd half as I missed the first.

    Bauer: 3
    Pearce: 3
    Foley: n/a
    Crofts: 3

    Novak: 4
    Hanlan: 4
  • Rudd: 7 - no chance with any goals, a few good saves, distribution was much better with a willingness to play it out rather than lump it long
Solly: 5 - stuffed with lack of cover in diamond midfield and then Hanlan out of position in second half. Struggled to stop the winger from cutting inside as had to cover the overlap on his own.
Fox: 5 - struggled to deal with their pacey players. Unlucky with OG as had to cover the overlap due to lack of support from midfield and Bauer out of position - meaning defence had shifted over.
Bauer: 3 - some solid tackles but arguably at fault for all 3 goals - 1st he charged out and didn't win the ball leaving Fox to cover two positions, second lost his man and was ball watching, 3rd didn't get the tackle in.
Pearce: 4 - solid at times but also out of position a lot - played half of Swindon on side for the third goal.
Foley: 3 - ineffective and the game passed him by. By the time he got back to cover Swindon's attacks the play had moved on.
Crofts: 4 - first half was more forward thinking. Sat back in second and was ineffective and slow. Doesn't offer enough to justify in continued inclusion - but Slade seems unwilling to play Jackson in the middle.
Ulvestad: 5 - tried but with lack of movement out wide never had the space created for him or the pass to play. Was a little hesitant to go to the ball at times.
Jackson: 5 - tried but didn't work well. Ineffective out wide.
Ajose: 5 - victim of the formation. Forced to run the wide channels as no width in team, but no one then supporting in the middle.
Novak: 5 - actually worked quite hard. He's no JM but did try. With no service he's always fighting a losing battle.
Hanlan: 4 - tried but with little luck. Not much chance given the way the game panned out.

Slade 3 - hampered by the internationals and Holmes injury - so he names the most narrow team - and bench - possible. Putting 4 defenders on the bench plus a keeper was stupid and arrogant. Use the youngsters in the wide positions to fill out the bench - it couldn't exactly go much worse and you use them in an emergency (like losing 3-0).

    Solly: 4 poor

    Crofts: 4.5 too many fouls
Ulvestad: 6.5 a class above his midfield counter parts
    Jackson: 4 poor
Ajose: 5 no service, in fact he was the only one trying to create services in the first half.
Novak: 5 no service in fact he was the only one trying to create service in the second half.
    Hanlan: 5 added nothing sadly.

Chicksen n/a too little time to comment.

Slade 3 his subs were shit.
  • Anyone blaming Bauer for the second, it was Pearce's man that Bauer tried to cover but Pearce lost him too early..

Seriously don't get how Solly is getting higher marks than Fox today, one looked gutted to have scored an own goal and tried throughout, the other sauntered around the pitch all day, with one goal coming directly from his side and another where he failed to block a shot at all.

    Completely agree.

    Abject performance from Solly today.

Not from everybody. But you do wonder what game some people are watching.

Rudd: 4 doesn't make a lot of saves does he
Solly: 2.5 utter dross, no intent, strolled about the pitch
Fox: 4.5 not at fault for any of the goals (even though he scored one)
Bauer: 3.5 plodding and easily turned
Pearce: 2.5 shit at the corners, shit in open play. Shit
    Foley: 2 fuck off
    Crofts: 2.5 also fuck off
Ulvestad: 4.5 stifled by both midfields
Jackson: 3 his legs actually, genuinely went at one point
Ajose: 3 whats the point? May as well play me up front, at least I'm 6 foot 2 and might cause a problem for defenders as they have to run around me
Novak: 3 target man that we don't target, played on the wing at the end
Hanlan: 5 didn't do a lot but how could he? My MOTM for not having to play the whole game and not being as shit as the rest

Re. Rudd.... Hes why were in the second round of the cup

Re. Rudd.... Hes why were in the second round of the cup
    That's nice.

He still doesn't save much though, Swindon hardly peppered our goal, and it's not the first time I have seen a team only have a couple of shots on target and score one or both of them.

(Sorry for detracting from player marks btw Lancs)

  • Rudd: 6 although he conceded 3 goals, he did make some crucial saves
    Solly: 5
Fox: 5 could do nothing about the first goal
Bauer: 5 didn't do too much wrong, could have done better for the 3rd goal though
Pearce: 5 apart from being at fault for the 2nd goal, was good in the tackle
    Foley: 5
Crofts: 5 worked hard, broke up play but did do some wayward passes
Ulvestad: 5 ineffective on the left of the diamond, became more involved when central
Jackson: 5 some good dead ball deliveries
Ajose: 5 worked hard and won a lot of corners
Novak: 5 worked hard defensively in becoming the 5th man in midfield
Hanlan: 4 looks very raw at this level

Chicksen 5 looked positive when he came on, offered some pace that we were desperately lacking

Crofts: 4.5 He gave it away so often & is so immobile.

Good on yer, Foxy lad. I actually sympathise with the light insinuation in this view that Solly probably gets by on past performances and that now (judging only on today's display ) he is nothing like his former self . Fox cares deeply but he is a terrible footballer ; he's
