better take the opinion that he does not want to play for a league one side and he does not want to be here or take our medical treatment and should be honest about it and go

On the other hand if he is paid a decent wack, why give it up, knowing he won't be the player he used to be
And if you are an owner, claiming to invest in the long term, and wanting to profit from developing and improving players, then why in the name of all that's holy don't you invest in best-in-class medical? It will pay back in a season (consider the waste of transfer fees and wages for Igor and Kashi)

  • it's all about integrity and desire to play; these seem so absent and lacking the former is forgivable in a footballer but not the latter
  • Not sure Kashi falls into the 'no desire to play' basket.

Right. He came back and played at the end of last season when it would have been easy for him to just see the season out, and given we had nothing to play for. My guess is that he was probably playing with pain/discomfort if he needed a surgery to remove scar tissue in the summer.
  • Our own Jon Fortune was not even an average player when he came back from an achillies injury.
  • It's a terrible injury and one that takes so long due to poor blood supply once it's injured/ruptured.

Essentially it's only real blood supply is from the posterior tibial and peroneal arteries. Once this is injured, the blood supply is damaged so bad sometimes that the recovery is so long and painful with the build up of soft tissue damage and scarring.

Sometimes a total rupture of the achillies is actually thought to be better than a part % rupture, believe it or not.

These things can take a long time to heal, I think it was foolish playing him last season when the programme should've been a 12 week programme to build up his strength, mobility and flexibility in order to give him the best possible chance of returning to play. I believe he already had a 12 week programme to get him back on the training pitch, but from there they should have had another set. Just like in competition, it's all about periodisation, treat it the same way.

His biomechanics of his gait cycle now would be horrific, causing him more damage elsewhere due to a possible compensation; there is so much work for him to do to be able to get back to where we'd all like him to be, it's going to be a long road.

Just goes to show how the lack of good treatment, medical attention and proper quality planning of rehabilitation can be detrimental.

The best for this kind of stuff are usually German's, Austrian's and there are some very well known, specialist Belgian's.

We just happen to get the crazy, idiotic one's instead.
  • Unfortunately the best thing for this sort of injury seems to be to close to naff all for a period, train a bit but ease off if there is any nagative reactions, avoid scar tissue by not pushing on too early

Best way is by a decent diet, a no booze, and probably some sort of yoga stretching.

To push someone back into partial even or full training early does build up the scar tissue and its avoidable.

  • How can anyone say, on medical grounds, that Kashi will not play again this season. He had his op 3 months ago and there are 4 months until the end of season. Plus potential play-offs. I am sure players have come back from achillies ops quicker.

And what the hell is he doing in Qatar, if we are still paying his wages? We should be having him in for monthly assesments at the very least to allow our medical team to check on his progress. I'm sure there is nothing untoward occurring, but how do we know when he's thousands of miles away from the Valley. We are most likely paying him a very decent salary for doing SFA, it wouldn't be asking too much to have him report to the training ground once every few weeks as most long term injured players have had to over the decades.

    Perhaps he is?

Did he injure himself playing for us? Then he's entitled to it. If his career is over then surely the club have some type of insurance. On what basis do you think he doesnt want to play? Maybe he's desperate to get the injury sorted and has decided to go elsewhere to solve it because it's not getting sorted out here. We don't know do we?
