Lee Turnbull will also join the club in a consulting capacity to lead the club’s scouting and recruitment with an immediate focus on the January transfer window.

I'm amazed he lasted as long as he did. Doncaster have been shocking this season, when as a club you'd expect them to at least be top half.

Paul Cook... Very successful elsewhere... Fails at Ipswich.

Nigel Adkins... Very successful elsewhere... Fails at Charlton.

That's just football isn't it. No grand conspiracies, outside meddling, or structural issues, etc. Sometimes it just doesn't work out. Good managers can fail on their own doing.

Stick a rumour in The Sun that Ipswich are after Jacko, that'll get Thomas to pull his finger out  ;)

Adkins' success was a long time ago, Cook's success was far more recent

And yet Cook had a better team, got a lot of transfer business done early in the window and still failed. Just goes to show.
  • Interesting to see a lot of support for him amongst fans and strong comments from players:

  • Ipswich are 7 points off the Play Offs following a start when they picked up just 3 points from the first 6 games. They've also had to play in the last half a dozen games some serious teams in this division - Rotherham (1st), Wycombe (3rd), Plymouth (4th) Sunderland (5th) and Oxford (7th). That run culminated in their most recent win against Crewe. Mind you, the fixture list really hasn't been kind to them because they have to play us, Wigan, Sunderland and Wycombe in their next five games too and it would appear that the Ipswich Board do not believe that they would get the right results with Cook in charge.

I wouldn't mind betting that had Ipswich stuck with Cook then they would have made the Play Offs and/or finished in the top two next season. As it is they have to find someone who will have to start all over again anyway. So what have they gained in sacking him?

For me Cook lost a lot of credibility when he walked out on Wigan, 'the club he loved', when the club was in serious financial trouble. I do wonder if players remember this kind of thing and that managers can lose player's respect for perceived past disloyalties. Outside shout, Carrick for the Tractor Boys ((:>)

Lee Johnson and Sunderland fans are not having the best relationship at the minute.

He would be a good fit there.
Steve Evans hasn’t had a good fit of anything for about 30 years.
  • Rafa Benitez it seems is safe. Instead at Everton it's the Director of Football Marcel Brands who's been given the push.

Maybe it was cheaper to sack him.

How many coaches did Ipswich have, if they can sack a manager PLUS 4 others?

Or are we light on coaches?

We're light, Ipswich seemed overloaded, especially for L1

Had no idea Francis Jeffers was part of Cook’s coaching team.

Looking him up, he had been doing some coaching at Everton before joining Cook and Ipswich

One of the coaches sacked was the goalkeeping coach, it seems a bit drastic to sack him as well!

Unless they've got someone lined up who wants their own team.
