Ademola Lookman - Stay or Go?

Obviously a very talented young player with loads of potential and would love to see him stay with the club, however yesterday it didn't look like he wanted to be there. Should we sell him now after his good season last year for a fair bit of money (despite us probably not selling him for his worth with Roland in charge) or keep him for another year hoping he plays well for us and risk him having a bad season and not selling for as much as he would now?

Apologies if there's already a thread on this subject.

Stay so that we can enjoy watching a premiership player of the future as promised by Daisy, well she wouldn't tell porkies would she? :smirk:

Thought he looked alright yesterday, caused a lot of panic in Northampton's defence.

Slade says he is staying so why would we not believe that

Do pray tell, how did he look like he didn't want to be here?

Didn't play how he played for glimpses of last season and didn't seem as eager. Although that might just be down to lack of fitness with all the international matches.

What, like coming on to the pitch, creating chances and running at defenders, scaring the shit out of them? Not sure how you can possibly decide he didn't seem "as eager" based on yesterday...
  • Will he play more than 45 minutes per game this side of the transfer window I wonder?

Might just have been me then.

  • Would like him as an attacking midfield option for us for this season. Besides if he does go the money ain't going anywhere near us.
  • In whose best interests are we talking?

    Ademola's?
    Duchatelet's?
    His agent?
    The fans?
    The buying club?
    His international status?
    Russell Slade?
    His fellow players?
    League One opposition?
His proximity to his family support network?
    His overdraft?

Fair number of factors to consider.

  • If we get bid 2mill plus from another club he's off

Surely we push for the loan back. It's a no brainer as he is nowhere near prem ready.

Agreed, he's got a way to go yet

Wtf are you on about ? He was excellent when he came on.

Are a lot of people on here going bonkers ?

I'm glad someone else was watching the same match as me. He completely changed the game when he came on.

  • When will people realise that continually selling your best players, sends you in only one direction. We still haven't got over selling Parker ffs, all that money did us a lot of good! same with Bent. Only when we have managed to hang on to our best players (Kins) for example, have we managed to turn it around. Even worse these days, as we know that any money for Lookman would not be reinvested, certainly not all of it.
  • No where near good enough to leave yet.

People said that against Cheltenham he was class in the First Half yet was being constantly found out in the Second Half.

For that reason I can understand why he isnt playing from the start at the moment and because of the lack of consistency I reckon clubs will continue to monitor him until January and then will possibly make a move for him.

Am basing the above on the fact that Slade isnt constantly playing him combined with the fact that didnt someone on here talk to a Premier League scout at an U21 game last season who said that despite being excellent with raw talent he wasnt ready for a Premier League side?
  • He is not playing much as Slade mentioned on Charlton Live last night he has had 4 days off since the end of the season and so they are bringing him along slowly.

As has been said, nowhere near ready for the premier league.

  • Think Slade's mindful of burnout. Great option on the bench to scare the life out of knackered div 3 defences.
  • Wasn't at the game, but thought he could have come on when jackson went off...

Ohh no mate he's not allowed on until the alarm clock goes off on the hour in the dugout and on that subject, get some frigging new batteries in it Rusty he was a couple of minutes late coming on today.

Don't think we can afford that luxury. Would have lost that game without him, probably would have won if he'd started.
