Is it too early to start another fresh start, new era, etc since the last one earlier today?

We already did, about a minute ago, you missed it.

    Ah

    Hang on

    Spoke too soon.

A fresh start just happened. New era starts NOW
Right. Well I for one am more than happy to give them another go. I mean, they've not done a lot wrong since the new fresh start 5 minutes ago.

  • These meet the manger meetings will prove useful seeing as there are likely to be quite a few in a short space of time.

Katrien Meire arrived for work at the Valley today at a quarter to two. She swept past us in her Range Rover seventy five minutes before kick off.
This is a fresh start for her as previously she used to arrive about half an hour earlier.

Not travelling by train any more?
  • Another own goal via the surveys.

Or they just won't read them.
  • Does anyone mind if we start a new era now, didn't quite like the new new era, but thinking that a new new new era might be what we need. I'll start it at 23:47 if that's okay!? All in favour say squirrel features and do 2 u-turns.
  • Well as of now the Supporters Trust has received no information from the Club about these meetings, still less confirmation that the Club thinks the Trust is one of these 'official" groups. Although you have to assume they do. In the eyes of the football authorities a properly constituted Supporters Trust, registered with Supporters Direct and with a membership that is almost certainly the biggest in Division Three, does not come more official.

Of course in a Thesaurus, the words "official" and "compliant" do not come up together.

    This has started well.

Do you think CARD count as an official supporters group? They seem to have a lot of followers...
  • Just to advise that we are not the biggest Trust in Div Three. Bolton claim around 6k -their Trust just being formed in January as part of their takeover. So just another 5k for us to go. And they charge £10 membership while we are £5.
  • I am encouraged by this announcement.
After the appointment of Slade, it's a small step in the right direction.
At the very least it is an acknowledgement by them that CARD have a valid point about the way the club is run.

    No it isn't at all.

It is an acknowledgment that all clubs have been ordered to meet with fans groups.

  • The meetings will consist of the fans in a plebian gaggle whilst folk from the club will be at a 'top table ' showing a power point that does not work.
It is ironic in the extreme that they framed the letter in signacontractforaseasonticketgate, as somehow in response to fans concerns.
I am concerned for example that this regime won't talk to potential buyers, will they respond to my concerns without telling downright lies.
I am concerned that they employ Tony Keohane, will they respond by sacking him?

Does Trust membership give them a share in the club, as at Swansea? ( I haven't really followed their takeover)

    Hmm.

Anyone have Peter Varney's number ?

A newly formed Supporter Group (probably best not to call themselves Ebbsfleet Addicks ) could surely request an invitation to one of these meetings.....

He surely just needs to take out membership with one of the supporters club branches. Or, preferably, all of them.
  • Was told on Saturday that East Kent Addicks had received an invite for a meeting prior to the Bolton game.

Break this news to Henry very gently.....

  • I hope the official groups share what's said and work with CARD.

I hope the official groups share what's said and work with CARD.

The Trust are part of CARD but so far have not been contacted about this initiative by the club.

@PragueAddick I believe Bolton ST were part of the takeover but would need to check details of what finally went through.

Going from their website it looks like they only have 2k (or at least they have a banner on their site that says "2k and growing," could obviously be old). It also doesn't look like it has any ownership in the club.

Also worth noting that, from what I remember, Swansea's takeover resulted in a payout to certain owners, but not their trust.

According to this, it sounds like the Trust (who own 21%) weren't even consulted on the takeover:

The Swansea affair is depressing. What it basically shows is that unless fans have 51% minimum, they are screwed.

The German model is basically the only one that consistently works in the best interests of fans.

  • If that model existed in England, would fans be expected for cough up 51% of the losses? How exactly does that work in Germany?

Thats a very good question, and I dont have the complete answer to hand, will try to get it.

Generally though, the system is credited with preventing the racking up of losses, admin, and collapse, that marks out our leagues.
