Great watch tonight again, have seen a number of u21 games at Dartford since retiring and would say it is a shame more people do not watch. Guy from Aberdeen I met again tonight wondered whether our new loan signing Tom McIntyre is the son of Tommy who played some games for the Don's. Think more likely is the son of Jim, who joined Reading in summer '98 where our lad was born in November. Wikipedia does not help. Can anyone confirm.
Reuben Reid looks well grown already for his age. Eager to get involved, caused problems for Stockport up front, and took his goal well from an excellent Enslin through ball. He is very young, not sure what his future development will look like. Sometimes players with promise, dare I mention Santos, Adigun, and at present Rylah, do not land at the destination they are aiming for.
The future is bright. Last night was an excellent performance and the fact we were ever 2-0 down was ridiculous. We dominated possession throughout but didn't create too much in the opening period but after the break we absolutely asserted ourselves and ran them ragged.
I know for a fact there are also some yet to appear at this level who are superb prospects and we are turning down bids already before we can even sign them up. Our academy is definitely a real bright spot of this club and has been for a number of years now. Without it we would be just like any one of a number of other clubs.
I strongly urge people to go along and watch the U21's at Dartford - it's cheap as chips, half decent stadium but the performances are ALWAYS entertaining.
One more thing - Toby Bower probably has the best left foot I've seen at Charlton since Andy Reid. I mean it. When he got that free kick I was joking and saying Toby Bower is inevitable. There was no point in setting up a wall as he would "just put it right where the spiders go". And so he did

It was a cracking free kick, I didn't see any gap to the left of the wall (I think there were six in it) so surprised that he got that in. I think their keeper was too!.
Is it the front 3 of Reid, Tagoe and Sol-Loza that are the main prospects to keep an eye on with the U18s?
Not seen them play but Ellis McMillan seems to be one to look out for, alongside those 3. He’s a regular in the team and scored a few. From what I’ve read seems to be an attacking midfielder who also plays out wide at times.

I think Enslin is in that no-mans land between being needed for the 20 man match day squads, having travelled with the team a few times already, and in case we get any injuries to our 19 1st team outfield players (I'm not including Henry as he's injured) and that he would benefit from playing in someone else's first team.
It's too late to loan him to league 1 or 2. That maybe because no one at that level wanted him or we didn't want to let him go out on a loan where he couldn't be recalled.
That leaves a national league loan.
A lower level but where the football is no longer part-time or agricultural so he could get used to more competitive football where results matter but can be recalled if and when we need him.
He'll be 20 in October so the time for a loan or inclusion in the first team must be close.

On Enslin, I only meant in style, perhaps I could have made it clearer I don’t mean we should throw him in and expect him to instantly be a key player for us.

On those stats, Sam Washington-Amoah is our top scorer with 7, so another one to keep an eye on.

No Dixon or Enslin so assume they are with the first team squad.
