Hope Miles got through that ok and suffers no adverse reaction. Sounds as if he had one or two decent moments.
One moment of concern when he was slow to get up from a coming together but has looked fine since and in his warm down routine.
He's always done that really, but it does keep us guessing after some serious injuries.

Is this played to extra time and then penalties does anyone know?

Casey has a shot from the edge of the 18yd area, but ends up too high, and into The Covered End

I think it is a group of 4 teams, the other 2 being Brum and Stockport so guess it is points based

For someone who’d been out for a year, that was a very decent 45 from Miles. Always looking to be involved, a couple of very sharp turns in the box. One with a shot across the keeper which hit the post. Agree with above that I think the one cleared from him, just before Huke’s scrambled effort was given, was over the line. Have to be happy with that.

Hopefully we can go on now and win this. I think we’re definitely the better team.

He looked pretty sharp, considering. Was moving well enough and his first touch was working well. It's only 45 minutes for the U21s, but it was encouraging for a first game back.

    Bower on for Enslin
  • Leeds are very quick at times breaking from defence to attack

Tactical stuff at U21 as well, as the Leeds keeper goes down "injured"...🤦‍♂️
  • Thought we were going to be in for a high scoring game the way this started.

The number 9 (Luca Thomas) for Leeds looks pretty decent.
  • Certainly missing Leaburn up top second half...
  • Five minutes added time...🤷‍♂️

Was it going in without the touch? We thought it was close.

No, it was going wide, but it did look close I agree

Best game I've seen from Kedwell. Zach Mitchell is a class above. Anyone who says he hasn't got a turn of speed needs to visit Specsavers. A good team performance.

Had to be the worst one sided referee I've ever seen at The Valley. Even the 4th official seemed to disown him.

I watched the stream other than missing the first 15 minutes or so of the second half. Mitchell in the second half, Asiimwe and of course Leaburn in the first each had moments where they looked so comfortable and powerful on the ball. Not surprising really when they're the three who are part of the first team squad.

We'll hopefully get Leaburn back to his best soon, while the other two need to be given time to develop. They remind me a bit of Konsa, clear ability on the ball, physically able to compete at first team level, but we might have to be patient and let them improve their consistency and learn from mistakes. Some might doubt them but I think they both have real potential to do well for the first team and play at a higher level in time.

Like Leaburn, Mitchell's out of contract at the end of the season (unless there's an optional year the club never mentioned?), that needs extending sooner than later, ideally before he gets a run in the first team. Can only assume Leaburn will be in talks soon if not already as a priority.

On the others I couldn't work out what type of midfielder Mwamba was. He made a few mistakes over the course of the game, losing possession. He then made a decent run into the channel near the end of the game - I get the impression what they like about him is he'll run all day. He's only about to turn 18 so plenty of time to see how he progresses at u21 level.

Huke was pretty busy as well but tidier on the ball. Right footed but looks very comfortable on the left side of CM and liked to get forward. Would be great to see a player like that make it in the first team, but maybe not physically powerful enough for Nathan Jones, he'd have to make up for it with running, aggression and energy.

I like the look of Enslin, as with Asiimwe he's decent on the ball and has the pace to drive forward with the ball. One to look out for, does he push on like Doughty or drop down the leagues like Clayden, or anywhere in between? Wouldn't be surprised to see him get a run out at LWB in the Bristol Pizza Cup.

Didn't feel Mbick got into the game and as much as we know he's physically a handful at academy level he looked small on stream with Leaburn towering next to him!

    We played 3-5-2:

                       Reid

           Toure Mitchell Hunter

    Asiimwe      Kedwell        Enslin

              Mwamba   Huke

             Leaburn   Mbick
  • Mwamba impressed me, spot on that he could be a 6,8 or 10. Miles' injury seems to been have managed well, Reid could be a very useful addition, constantly talking, has obviously worked with that group of lads, encouraging performance

Pity I missed this game, coincided with my 2pm keep fit class.
    Fitness is overrated. Straight red.

Today at 2pm the U21’s are slated to play Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
I have no idea if there will be any live coverage.

Worth checking SWFCs Twitter and YouTube pages, looks like they’ve streamed u21 games before. Nothing mentioned yet.
