Time probably better spent with the 1st team i would have thought , if he plays today its probably no training tomorrow, which reduces the time to get working with Bows Jacko and the team.

21st Jan last full match - on the bench for the FA cup game on the 25th. Looked to have a pattern of starting one match and then on the bench the next week.
I was at the game this afternoon,played at the home of St Albans City,i didn't manage to get a team sheet,but it looked like the trialist was a central defender & the sub trialist came on in the 2nd half as a striker. Aneke played as a striker & looked very sharp until being subbed after an hour,Lapslie was subbed at half-time & looked a bit rusty,he was replaced by Odoh,Wiredu was subbed after about 70 minutes & replaced by Dempsey. A draw was a fair result in a very entertaining competitive game. Messrs Bowyer & Gallen were also there.
When Chuks is banging them in like this it makes me wonder why Lee is so adamant that he sees him as a midfield player rather than a striker. Surely worth a chance up top if we have further injury problems?
He sees him as a no 10, which to my mind is playing off the striker.
So more a forward than a midfielder, but not the main striker.
Chuks Aneke is a number "10" or second striker. For a hundred years it was known as inside right or inside left, and the Number 9 was always the Centre Forward.
Forwards can be wingers, main striker, second striker ("10")
Lyle Taylor and Karlan Grant worked so well because they were both main strikers and "wingers". When Taylor was down the middle, Grant was out wide and vice versa.
Frank Lampard was technically a midfield player but scored 231 goals at a ratio of 1 in 3 games so took up positions that many second strikers occupied.
I know 80% of you know this already but for the few that still get confused Aneke has been so far in his career a number 10 or second striker.
He is such a unit that he will have a huge physical advantage playing U23 footy so not sure goals are a great guide to how he would perform in the first team; but it will give him fitness and confidence and I still reckon an on his game Aneke would be some player at Championship level.
Such a pity Chucks was injured just when we needed him and he could have had a run in the team. Never easy coming on as a sub when everyone needs you to score. Everything other than a goal is going to disappoint and that leads to harsh judgements. He is fit enough for at least 20 minutes and I would be surprised if he does not make the bench Saturday. A striker on form has got to be a better choice.

Fair enough, but we don't really play a "conventional" number 10 role do we? It's more often than not the top tip of a diamond or a more conventional advanced central midfielder role.
Chuks looks to have lost a bit of muscle mass. Wonder if this is on purpose?
It's possible. Some sportsmen can get a bit obsessed with bulking up, which is fine if you play like Akinfenwa but not good if you lose pace as as result

At the start of the season didn't Bowyer suggest him playing at the tip of the diamond, or was just something that was proposed on here?
Yep Bow was very clear he would play there and not upfront. That is where he played most games for MK too.
That said if he is fit I would prefer him to Hemed as an option off the bench (an I actually think there is a player in Hemed).
The best I have seen Chuks play for us was at Reading away near the start of the season. He came on as a sub with about 25 minutes to play and caused havoc. Would really love to see some more of him before the end of the season as I still think he could be a good player at this level.
Going off at a complete tangent, but it was being discussed anyway.
No 10 is the most broad stroke of a discription of a player I think that is used in "modern" football. I don't know if its the championship manager effect or the over saturation of sky TV pundits trying to justify themselves.
As the term has become more used it has basically become meaning less, it now sort of covers anyone who plays centrally but not off the last man and doesn't track back. But that could be also a false 9, an 8 and a half, the point of the diamond, the middle of a 3.
Anyway, is Chucks one? Now he is because of lazy use stereotypes and Bowyer using language that he knows his audience will understand.
