No doesn't seem strange. Pleased that firm action is being taken. Although....very hard to enforce.
Especially if they're not named.
"...so that's about it for the pre-match security announcement, team. Just don't forget that there are four people banned from entering the ground. So, if you see them, don't let them in".
Wasn't there, but from the Welling thread it sounds pretty justified. And if you pitch invade during a game at The Valley you know what you're getting.
Whilst I don't condone the actions of those banned, I can fully understand how the frustrations caused by Meire, Duchatelet and Murray have acted as a catalyst to their pitch incursions. And I suspect that by the time this poisonous trio have quit the Club, the number of banning orders issued will have risen substantially. Whether all are justified is another matter.
As someone who evaded a police cordon to 'invade' the vacant East Terrace before kick-off the day we played Stoke City in September 1985 (our last game at The Valley before decamping to Selhurst Park), and who then went on the pitch at half time and full time, I can empathise with those banned.
I believe that those responsible for the Club quitting The Valley back then, however misguided they may have been, did so with the Club's best interests at heart. The same cannot be said of the current incumbents who seem to take pleasure in deliberately antagonising the ever-diminishing ranks of Charlton fans at every turn.
History tells us that their time in charge of CAFC will come to an end - this is inevitable. It is just a question of when. As a fan whose support of the Addicks spans seven decades, I hope it is sooner rather than later, and before the frustrations these idiots have caused me to endure, result in my repeating those actions of 1985.
Still, I might end up in the Guiness Book of Records as the oldest football supporter to receive a Banning Order!
Is it possible they weren't named because they're minors? That's common practice here, you cannot name minors in any sort of press incident. From what I remember hearing, it sounded like those up to mischief at Welling were of the yoot variety.
Some might almost be encouraged to come on the pitch if we don't sign any players this week!!
The club has become a joke and as stated above, these actions might well be to continue to antagonise the fans. Why they would even want to remain in place, under such intense hatred is difficult to understand, especially given the interest to buy the club from at least 2 alleged sources.

It will be a war this year. How the fuck has it come to this.

"OK. But who are they?"
"Can't tell you, sorry".
I was at Welling (There's a thread about the incidents).
If it's the people on the pitch then that's really silly. If it's for smoke bombs then it is deserved.
Would that'll be Ivor Whippet and Norman Flatcap?
