Had a very lively game apart from the miss, really put himself about and was a handful until substituted. Was surprised at the high standard of football. Watched the Rangers game after where Martyn Waghorn now looks a very good player.
Seems like half their players have dropped out of the squad, playing in Scotland will definitely help his international chances though
Didn't see him in the Scotland squad for the England game so assume he's been dropped. Probably because he's not exactly setting the world alight in the SPL with just one goal and no assists from 14 matches this season.

He's still getting a start every week and by all accounts putting a shift in so he's doing better than his stats suggest

"Putting a shift in" for a forward that has created no goals and scored just one this season doesn't sound great to me. Unless he's up to his old trick of doing all the damage in the centre circle.
In addition, I've read comments on the Hearts forum that include "we have never had it so bad for strikers" and "Watt must have missed 20 chances this season".

I'm just going on what the guys I know have told me and that is that 1 goal and 0 assists sounds like he's playing worse than he is. Obviously he is lacking that ruthlessness in front of goal atm but RN would have no problem dropping him if he wasn't bringing something to the team

Trouble is they have a very small squad and they haven't got anyone to replace him. In fact, their top scorer is a defender with 4.
According to Hearts fans it seems RN is on his way out anyway. They have only won 5 of their first 13 matches and failed to do so in their last 4 games - all against teams below them in the table.
Sounds all a bit familiar - small squad, forwards misfiring, manager soon to be sacked............
Fact is he holds my most memorable moment of football played at the valley since they took over and that was defending the ball in a corner to waste time, who would you prefer to watch Lee Novak??? Most talented player bar none, since they took over, only player that when he got the ball everyone stood up

Fact is he's not as good as he, or many people on here, thinks he is.
Fact is, as he and many on here know, he's still better than anything we had last season.
Disagree. Would rather have Igor (who works for the team and holds the ball up) or more controversially, Mak in a team playing to his strengths than Watt (that's not counting JBG which I hope goes without saying). I think Watt has peaked and is on the decline. Not a good enough passer to be a number 10, doesn't work hard enough to be a winger, doesn't score enough and isn't positionally disciplined enough to be a center forward.
He's technically gifted at football, but I wouldn't say he's a good footballer if that makes sense.

Would largely agree with that assessment actually.
Falls into the same category as players like Graham Fenton, Nick Barmby, Alan Smith and a few others over the years.
Good footballers, but as they never scored enough goals they always struggled to hold down a place up front, whilst probably lacking the pace to play out wide.
Watt is the sort that looks good on the ball, but often flatters to deceive, whereas someone like Magennis is the sort that looks clumsy but is probably a nightmare to play against!

Yes, Alan Smith the younger (assuming you meant him) is a great shout! Was trying to think of a player who had talent but never did much. Adel Taraabt came to mind too. But I think Alan Smith is a great one as he started well then faded completely and had fitness and attitude issues.
Yes I meant the Leeds Alan Smith - good player, but didn't score enough goals. Tataabat was very talented, but apparently his attitude was absolutely woeful, the last I heard he was at AC Milan??

Sort of self explanatory...
Tony Watt has been called up to the Scotland squad as a replacement
