  • Not too gutted to be honest, seems like a good bloke who spoke his mind but last season we looked 10x better with Pope in the team than him, in his first season he was class, definitely didn't follow that up last season though.
  • His body language in the Welling and Bromley friendlies spoke volumes. He absolutely did not want to be there.

Surprised he went to Austria. Think the writing has been on the wall for him since he fronted up to the press after the Huddersfield debacle.

Don't understand the he's fallen out with the goalkeeping coach line, smells of bull crap to me.

Fit and on form he is a very good keeper. Unfortunately for large parts of last season he was neither.

If you want away and aren't giving 100%, then I suppose you would fall out with your immediate boss ie goalkeeping coach.
  • Charlie Wright---he could do a few bloopers but was a hero to most and ran a good cafe!!!!

Not to mention a smashing bloke and a great person to play golf with.
  • our goalkeepers seem to divide opinion a lot more than most.

personally I'd take Henderson every day of the week over Pope, have never been convinced by Pope and think £1m is a steal. Henderson is only let down by his injury record.

Hoping we can get a solid / experienced keeper in to replace both

It's a strange one. On current ability alone I'd say Henderson is the better keeper. He hasn't made many mistakes in his two years with us. Pope has made a number of errors (mainly low shots).

Pope did improve significantly towards the end of the season though and I have no doubt he'll continue to get better. We should have held out for more than 1 million for him.

I like Henderson but he's always going to be injury prone and as a club in league 1 we can't afford to have one of the highest earners as an injury prone goalkeeper that will miss half the season every year. Adding to that he doesn't want to be at the club so I'd be fine to see him go.

Agree with this. Think after his shoulder injury he wasn't the same. Seemed more reticent to come out for crosses and reluctant to stretch. Might be my imagination but think it definitely affected his performance.
  • Looks like we will be opting for the rush goalie solution this season......
  • Come on Hendo - spill the beans, stick the knife in.

yeah if and when he leaves he'll have a lot of shit to throw at the regime.
I'm just looking forward to the book, written by Louis Mendez, interviewing all the bitter ex employees in a couple of years time. It will be titled "Roland - The man who killed a football club"
  • Not too sure how to link tweets on here, but looks like he's properly going at it with a fan on Twitter.

Sounds like he's been getting a bit of grief from some "fans".

  • I don't mind Henderson going, as he's often injured. Dillon Phillips is very capable. If we sign Simon Moore on loan to compete with him and Mitov then the goalkeeping position is sorted. If Phillips is given game time he'll prove to be better than the keepers we've had since Elliot and Randolph left anyway.

    Who will be the replacement?

Good luck to the guy, never did us any wrong.

Hopefully Henderson will spill the beans, hopefully his move is not a loan, but a permanent deal.

Phillips had a great season at Cheltenham last season
  • @Splodge I see where you're coming from re Phillips but I don't see how we can put our faith in a young goalie who hasn't played a game in the football league. Maybe if we were a bit further into the season (a bit like Rob Elliot) but not from the start. Think it's a huge risk and also think it's one that I can see the regime taking. Good player but is he really ready to don the number 1 shirt?

Not unless he has come on leaps and bounds. Can't say I was over impressed watching him in the development squad. It's a no from me.

Yet at the same time if you dont give Phillips a go you'll never know

He got very good reviews until his injury curtailed his loan. I have to say I only saw him play for Cheltenham once, at Bromley, but he was very impressive in that game. I'd bring in someone else too. We have been linked with Simon Moore on a season long loan from Cardiff.

I agree. He's a decent keeper and was brilliant for Cheltenham (who walked that league) in the Conference last season before he got crocked... But that's the Conference. Playing in League 1 is a different kettle of fish.

  • Not seen the abuse, but he's not one who deserves it. He has behaved with dignity and respect for fans, unlike some. Hope he is happy wherever he ends up.
  • Love how he's not held back against some little Cnut on Twitter.

What was said please Gary. I don't have twitter
  • Lol! Take two for that!

One guy laying in to him, calling him sicknote and claiming he's been nicking a living off the club etc.
  • Makes you wonder why any player would want to be on Twitter.
  • When asked what one piece of advice he'd give a player coming through the academy Frank Lampard said 'stay away from social media'. Not work hard, apply yourself, practice but 'stay away from social media'. Wise words.
