Whilst he has been poor that fan is a prize plum. At some point in three tournament we may need him and I would prefer it if he wasn'the totally dejected.
In fairness to the guy who originally set it up, it was meant as a joke and he didn't actually think it would get approved - and he's said that any money that is raised is going to charity.
That said, the fact that we have so many ''fans'' who actually think this kind of thing is a good idea, and that mocking and humiliating a 21 year old with a lot of pressure on him is somehow funny... well it says quite a lot, and none of it good.
This kind of sums up why we get what we deserve as english football fans - even if it was meant as a joke . Sterling has been awful and I have no idea why he is out there . Equally, we are in a major championship with a group of players that are clearly trying hard, even if they aren't that good. They need our full support

Why, has the kit man got a health problem?
In seriousness he has been poor and shouldn't even be in the squad. And whilst this page was clearly a joke I agree it's stupid. Although for people to moan "we get what we deserve" somehow suggests we are alone in this fan whining and bad compared to others. Some blinkered fans out there.

Blooming phone. You are right all fans moan and are never happy.

True, I should have said "as football fans". Point taken

Yeah come the Qatar 2022 World Cup he might worth taking!!
Sterling has been dire, but I agree that this kind of stunt isn't great for his confidence at a time when we may need to call upon him. It would be a bit healthier if we could do the autopsy when our chances are already dead!
That said, what a brilliant idea. Nearly £1,400 raised for a palliative care provider now. What started as a bit of a laugh will hopefully do some good, and has probably got a lot of exposure.
People tend to forget one big reason why he did so well at Liverpool: on the pitch he had Suarez (and Sturridge) around him. That partnership was vital in their success.
Well, what I remember most is the way he left Liverpool. I thought he was a very talented young player but never liked him since his contract dispute with Liverpool. Have you all seen/read what happened then? Sterling was the prime example of young players getting carried away after having one (two at the most) season of good performances and then pressing for a salary much higher than they deserve, or worse showing absolute no loyalty or gratefulness to their old clubs and jumping at the chance to leave for a bigger club. (And historically Man City isn't bigger than Liverpool right?) He rejected Liverpool's 100k/week deal and his agent claimed he wouldn't stay even Liverpool offered him 900k a week. I honestly couldn't believe my eyes when I read that. What an insult that was. I would have been furious if I had been a Liverpool fan. He joined Man City for 160k/week and eventually got what he deserved: the bench.
If you're a young player and all you care about is the money, you won't go very far. Look what Dimitri Payet was doing at the same age: trying to earn a little bit extra money at a clothing store while playing for Nante. The contrast is staggering. Players like Payet, they work extremely hard when they're young and appreciate the opportunity to play for a big club when it comes. A slow but steady progress is good for them. Had Sterling stayed at Liverpool, he'd have had much more playing time and even improved more. But unfortunately he thought he was as good as the likes of Aguero and would start for Man City every week. His arrogance and delusions hindered his progress as a player, unsurprisingly. So I have no sympathy for him seeing this act of mockery.
By the way, Sterling was caught inhaling laughing gas last year. You may argue that's irrelevant but, I tend to believe a decent player would never touch that kind of thing.
Whilst I agree he has been poor this tournament, but we might still need him and he could be what we need. So a ridiculous act by the fan, even if a joke. I read before they went out to France that Sterling was seeing Dr Steve Peters, author of 'The Mind Management Programme for Confidence, Success and Happiness.' He has worked with lots of top sports men and women who need to find their confidence again. So clearly he is struggling and does not need such a lack of support. At the end of the day, we are all people who want to succeed and be happy, not publically ridiculed.

People were slagging off Lukaku because he had a poor game against Italy, and he shut all those idiots up today with two goals against Ireland.
England doesn't have a huge pool of players to choose from - Sterling is easily in the top 23.
