  • Better beer and more leg room in the stands.

You call always make a bid to sit on the sofa (plenty of legroom) and ask for personal beer service from the nearest security guy :-)
  • When Roland sellzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

    When Smokey Singzzzzzzzz
  • Well I'm not going to say I'll never change my mind. That to me is ridiculous. I will say that nothing gives me confidence that enough change will happen to even consider thinking of cutting RD any slack. The signing of two British players and appointing a British manager is a step in the right direction but we are considerably worse off now than when RD took control. He has l long way to go to convince me.
  • New ownership, nothing less.
  • Trust takes time to build. Duchatelet and Meire have shown little respect over 2 +1/1 seasons and stomped on that trust, grinding it into the ground to dust. It will time and evidence of sensible decision making and player dealings before I believe the corner has been truly turned.

Purchase of a couple of appropriately experienced players, before off loading the decent ones, leaving a bare cupboard is a start. As is the manager appearing to have a larger measure of control.

There's a long way to go.

Do you think Slade has a "large measure of control"? I am not saying that he doesn't. But I haven't seen enough yet to make me think he has.
  • Whatever he has, he hasn't got it in writing.

Too early but I haven't really seen anything to make me think he hasn't. Reported that he crossed off some previous targets and added his own. Time will tell but I'm hopeful he will have as much control as any other league one manager.

  • When Peter Varney let's us celebrate on the pitch . That Roland has sold up and gone and taken the liar with him
  • Please don't renew. It's not worth it.
  • Controversial suggestion here but of the players that have been suggested as likely to go

    Henderson
    Tex
    Solly
    Cousins
    Watt
    Lookman
    JBG

If we went on a Chris Powell style rebuild the season we went up, ie a whole new first XI of the quality of what we got in, would you accept say the loss of a cousins for example
  • If bringing in Russell Slade, Ricky Holmes and Lee Novak has changed your mind and persuaded you to buy a season ticket then you must have taken in a large quantity of drugs.

NOTHING other than Roly and Katie leaving the club will persuade me to set foot in The Valley.

For all of you feeling positive, sorry to piss on your chips, but just wait for the departures of the likes of Lookman, Cousins et al for peanuts.

I'd love to have heard he lies that they are telling the people coming in to the club.

All they are trying to do is get us back in to the shape that they found us in. I wish they would either just piss of or die (don't wish death on other human beings, but these 2 don't come in to that category)

Other than the name diminutives, I like everything about this post
  • I'm happy with the two signings we've made so far, and I'll be even happier if we bring Ajose in. However, we should all remember that this time last year we made some excellent signings. Bauer was a very good signing, Makienok was (on the face of it) what we needed, Kashi and Ba seemed like good signings. The problem was, as well as the the fact these players had played about 8 minutes of football in the last 40 years between them, we didn't sign anywhere near enough players. Four or five decent signings would be too few even if we kept all of our current squad, but we know full well we're likely to lose the likes of Johann, Cousins, Watt, Henderson and Kashi, and maybe even Bauer, Fox and Pope.

I'm not even thinking about a season ticket until Katrien and Roland are gone, but for those wavering remember that we've always made some decent signings under Roland's ownership, but we've never once put together a proper, full English league ready squad. Bear that in mind, as history indicates when the transfer window closes we'll still be feverishly staring into our academy looking for children to plug the gaps.
  • If we kept Cousins, Kashi, Baur, Tex and Pope I would be very happy. Start of a good Championship team.

For me there's far more to it than whether we have an English manager, how much control he has and how decent the recent signings have been.

I joined the protests because I want an ownership that genuinely cares about football. An ownership that want's the best for Charlton. An ownership that can be open about its motives, because its motives are at one with what the fans want. An ownership that is basically decent and honest.

However good Slade is and however good the new signings turn out to be, we still have arrogant, disingenuous owners whose interests in football are limited to proving some weird micro-economic theory that would elevate Roly's imagined public status to that of far-sighted, financial genius.

They have never apologised for the damage they have done. They have never publicly stated what they need to do differently, despite frequent lamentations that lessons need to be learnt. They have never properly acknowledged that they are responsible for our club's recent demise. Instead they prefer to play the victim and blame others. They have never distanced themselves from player-farming, sub-standard networking or their ludicrous view of football in which the fans have nothing more than a minimal walk-on part. They have never acknowledged that the "fan's" sofa, the imposed cheerleaders or the demeaning sex on the the pitch advert were awful ideas out of sync with the culture of our club. They have never tried anything to build bridges with the fans. They have never retracted their public attacks on fans, their lies about weird meaning unique or the allegation of fan-racism. An allegation that is particularly disgusting given Roly's weird Eurocentric comments that don't take too much sensitivity to be construed as anti-asian racism. Duchatelet has never recognised that winning is important. Meire has never taken back her comments regarding the unimportance of the club's history. With each end every new signing they cynically publish player quotes praising ridiculous liar Katrien Meire, the likes of which are enough to make her the envy of Kim Jong-un.

There is some evidence that they don't want to be in League One and that they may turn their back on some previous methods in the hope of getting the club back into the Championship. There is no evidence at all that they genuinely care about the club, or that their long term aims are congruent with fans demands for competitive football. There is no evidence that they will be any more open, honest or trustworthy. I will not give these people another penny. Renew? They have to go first.

    Spot on.
  • Winning the lottery and having purchased the club.

Not technically buying a season ticket to hand out a few compliments ties but I reckon it is close enough.

Alternatively I might buy if Katrien leaves and Roland stays. But not likely.

Have to agree. It's what they do IF we get promoted from league 1 that counts. I'm pleased with Slade and the signings but I liken the change in direction akin to them having gone to the doctors and being told they've got a peanut allergy. They can't eat them anymore, but only time will tell if they've taken the doctors advice, or will they revert back to eating them again because they're too stupid
  • KM to retailer: 'I can't eat peanuts any more, I have an allergy, do you have anything similar, I like them.'

Retailer to KM: ' well we do have these monkey nuts you may like to try.'

KM: 'Oooh fantastic I'll take a kilo.'

This is my worry. Will they finally get it?
  • Roland selling up, taking pinocchio with him along with Murray the weasel.

Nothing short of that will change my mind.

    Stig says it perfectly.
For me there is a problem wrapped up in the phrase 'they'll never take my Charlton away'.
It seems clear that one strategy is to alienate the older generation of proper fans and attempt to bring in an innocent happy clappy type of fan to replace us.
I remember during a conversation Katrien using the phrase 'Chinese market', she introduced the house music for the 'youth market ', she salivates over the family market, she wants the south west London market, or Tottenham taxi driver market.
So on one level she actively wants rid of me, and hopes to replace me from elsewhere. She wants to take my Charlton away and I don't want to let her.

Schlepping to the football is all I've ever done, Like Seb Lewis in my own way, and there are thousands of others like me, I resent with a passion having to be in this position that I have to give it up, or by going I shall be implicitly supporting these nasty bastards.

I am trying to persuade myself that I have to be there in order to protest. I am looking for ways to let them know I am there under sufference. However knowing myself I want to be involved, otherwise if everybody who feel like me stays away it won't be 2% but 0% disaffected.
I feel conflicted enough to say all is fair in love and war and because of that I would include good guys like Russel Slade and the players as targets. My thinking is that if they get pissed off enough they will blame the bosses not the fans.
As I say I am very conflicted. My unbroken season ticket support goes back to 1971, I am in the cusp of the old git reduced deal thing as I am not yet 65. I watch the U18 and U21 teams and enjoy seeing how those players progress into our first team.
I suppose what would satisfy me places me in an odd minority as I want to go to the Valley and for each match to be abandoned, and for the atmosphere to be toxic.
PS I hate what I have written.

Follow the development squads as a compromise.
