I think we'll get him, it was less than a year ago Leeds terminated his contract early.
He'd be guaranteed first choice with us and perhaps we're willing to pay more than a Championship club will for a player that won't be first choice and is yet to prove himself at that level.
Watching his goals looks a similar player to BWP, and like him I wouldn't be surprised if there are doubts about whether he's quite good enough for Championship football.1 -
What worries me is that you wont get 25 goals out of Tony Watt in a seasoncypriot_addick said:Would be a good signing but I'd rather have a motivated tony watt over ajose if that was a choice.

I actually agree with this.colin1961 said:It was said early this morning that the deal would not be completed for a few days , so don't see any problems would say the hard work done , there always a chance someone wil come in last min that's football if it happens and he goes to a championship side you can't blame him we move on to another target ....

What about agreeing terms with the player?Lincsaddick said:
Loopy by name and nature .. does your grandson enjoy talking to a senile old man ? .. IF all is well and a fee agreed, how come he has not yet signed ?East_Stand_Loopy said:
I really hope this is a joke...Lincsaddick said:the delay is worrying .. there are surely quite a few clubs interested in him .. I guess we'll have to offer quite a large salary/benefit package .. come on Duchatelet, pay the bloke his just desserts
It was only announced quite late last night that a fee had been agreed.
Christ, my 2 year old Grandson has more patience than that!
When you were a kid, did you ask your parents in January, "how many sleeps until Christmas"?
You know, weird things like wages, length of contract etc.
Unimportant things, to you perhaps, but not quite so unimportant to the player, the club, and the players agent...2 -

Katrien will need to meet him to discuss his contract, undertake his medical and tell him what to say for his press interview.Lincsaddick said:

And maybe because Katrien doesn't work every Friday?

If we have spoken to the player before having an offer accepted by the club in question, it is called "tapping up".
Everyone knows this goes on, but you can get in a lot of trouble with the FA/FL doing that.0 -

I can't believe he was on £1000 a week with Swindon.colin1961 said:East_Stand_Loopy said:

A club will know what the player wants before they are allowed to talk to him , his agent will also know what on offer before the club and player meet , reports suggest from Swindon we have offered 3x his current salary .......1 -

Andy Delort................by the way, is it back on? oh and hows his old man?
How I miss 'the Delorts'........................1 -
Nick Ajose on the other hand looks very good at this level. I also like a striker that LOVES to score goals and show that it means a lot to him!!................and the loyal 'customers'

Trouble is, would Watt be motivated for more than 6 games?cypriot_addick said:Would be a good signing but I'd rather have a motivated tony watt over ajose if that was a choice.

800K is a comparative bargain for a young, consistent striker .. I'd be surprised if clubs like Reading, Fulham, even a Derby are not very interested in Ajose .. fee agreed or not, I am concerned at the delay2

3 signings! Seems a lot are leaving. Not as if any were/ are prolific goal scorers.0

On form he would reach 20 goals in league 1.ForeverAddickted said:

With him praising slades appointment and having worked together at Cardiff it's a possibility.CyrilDavies said:

The point is though, Lincs, he's consistent at out level (or appears to be at least) but is unproven at Championship level. I'm sure he's on those clubs' radars but even Jordan Rhodes had to get into the Championship (and now Premiership) by getting promoted rather than being transferred so high placed teams are not always to take punts on lower league players, albeit I'm sure Rhodes will have had a higher price tag that Ajose currently does.Lincsaddick said:800K is a comparative bargain for a young, consistent striker .. Wilson from Coventry to Bournemouth and/or Gray from Luton to Brentford and then Burnley (for a LOT of money) are prime examples of 3rd/4th tier strikers moving up a grade with great success .. other than Vardy, how many Premier teams sign lower league strikers e.g. Rhodes ? .. the majority are signed from foreign clubs or rarely, like Harry Kane. are 'home produced'Exiled_Addick said:

EDIT .. Correction ... even Vardy made the Prem through a promotion1 -

Think Ajose has Charlton in the bag rather than the other way round. I can imagine his agents phone being red hot trying to get someone to better the offer.
I really can't see this one happening.1 -
Can't help feeling that he's gonna pitch up at another club on Monday. Birmingham or whoever is after him from the Championship will be a more attractive proposition.0

Hope you're wrong, but I expect this to be the case.ShootersHillGuru said:Think Ajose has Charlton in the bag rather than the other way round. I can imagine his agents phone being red hot trying to get someone to better the offer.

Believe the hold-up is about the wording of Nicky's praise for Katrien.31

Though it is to an extent understandable, I think some people are a bit to cynical over this. It's known we have eclipsed a few clubs with our offer, but even then I'm sure the club didn't want it out there. It came out what, 48 hours ago, that the fee was agreed it took another few weeks for Igor to join after that. Just because it might take a few days to agree a contract, get everything registered etc. doesn't mean it won't happen. It'll sound stupid with all else she comes out with, but Sue Parkes does give us some insight regarding this. It really isn't as simple as agreeing a fee then chucking a uniform, weekly wage at a player and a clause or 2 as you do on FIFA/ FM. This is real life business.0

thanks for enlightening us all Harry, never thought such things might have a bearing on it.6

Of course you are right but this is very much exactly what happened with Wilder isn't it.cafc_harry said:Though it is to an extent understandable, I think some people are a bit to cynical over this. Don't under estimate the agent in all this. He will know what we have on the table and will be keen to see if it can be bettered. Perhaps it will and perhaps it won't but I'm fairly confident Ajose is being touted around until he actually signs.
