Always Neil clearly there is irony in what you write but it is resonant of a human being we are talking about. Let me make this clear first off. We seem to be in a polarised position where the way to save our beloved club is to go on the offensive against Katrien. Attacking her is the necessary lesser of two evils. However, away from the football issues she is still a person, and certainly initially many of us found her to be very likeable. It is tragic that she seems so isolated and just recently so worn down by it all. The bleating at the Telegraph event, rushing off to Dubai with stress, hiring all manner of consultants and so on to try to cope, these speak to me of a person who is being damaged. I believe in her world she is trying to present a tough it out image, but that approach is causing considerable distress, it would me anyway. I don't think Katrien is married, or is a mother (parenthood effects an elemental shift in the world viewpoint of many people), maybe she has a 'significant other' to look after her, or her family is a support, but either way she is being hurt by events and it looks from the outside a very lonely place to be. I am uncomfortable about the collateral damage to Ms Miere, but it is nowhere near the apoplectic rage I feel about the damage she is overseeing to my club. Is there no recognition from Roland about all this, or will he continue to use her until she becomes a husk?

There is a human face behind this but if any of us were so woefully out of our depth in a job and under such intense pressure then we would have realised this some time ago and quit, especially if our health was at stake and our family being affected. I would have some sympathy for her were it not for the remarkable levels of arrogance and contempt (for club and fans) she has shown.
In short, she is doing a lousy job and if she can't stand the heat - and suspect you are right in that this is now really getting to her - then she should resign. One thing for sure is that Roland won't do the decent thing and relieve her of her suffering.
And absolutely spot on, Mogodon.
I too don't like seeing people being worn down - but she's in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Sums up my views exactly - thank you for posting this, @seth plum .
I would be fascinated to understand exactly what the relationship between Meire and Duchatelet is and how it is keeping her sticking it out in a role she is failing so badly at.
I've said it before, but she looks tired, miserable and unwell these days. If I had a job that was causing me so much grief and thousands of people clearly and demonstrably hated my guts I would be looking to escape as soon as humanly possible. Its only a job after all.

Me too, very valid summary from Seth. I too feel uncomfortable about despising someone who represents the Club I support. However, when I remind myself of the comments she has made (and for me the 'don't care about the history of the club' was the worst) and the arrogant attitude she adopts when dealing with fans and the media then I feel justified again.
More recently she demonstrated that once again she has no intention of reconciling with fans when she was asked at the Slade press conference about season ticket holders not renewing she shrugged it off with the words ' that's their choice'.
So she may or may not be suffering internally but her bank balance isn't and if she was that distressed she would have resigned by now when all the indications are that she has no intention of doing so.
What concerns me more than Katrien's state of mind therefore is the collateral damage inflicted upon fans which she is quite prepared to accept and her disrespect for the club. So, There are many I suspect who will never ever forgive Katrien Meire for what she has done during her time as CEO. Appointing what appears to be a half-decent manager at the club should never obscure the fact that this woman is quite prepared to say and do anything to stay in post .
Undeniably human she may be but her inflated sense of self worth is such that she will sacrifice any principles she might once have held and will act only in her own best interests not that of the Club to further her ambitions. I wish her gone and driven out by every legal means available.

I had a rotten job for years. My boss was the biggest arsehole I have ever worked for, and conditions verged on illegal. My work mates were great though, and that counts for a lot. I worked through an awfull recession here, and with an indefinate contract, there was no way I would leave as work contracts like that barely exist in Spsin now- the jobs are all short term to avoid pay offs. Up to a point, I can sympathise with the night meire. However, I have a mortgage and family to maintain, which ruled out a return to the UK which other ex pats did. But she is a lawyer. No family to maintain. She could go back to Belgium and start over. Let's be honest, she is finished here. So my sympathy is strained. Plus some of her declerations (I don't care about the history of the club) push her into the void. She should'nt suffer. She should leave.
It is pretty clear from everything said and written that Liar Liar is the total problem we have at the club. There is no point in going over old ground but I think if she went and was replaced by a British experienced CEO we might see some of the softening in the severe opposition to the regime. Problem is I think she has offered to resign more than once but Duchebag does not trust or even know anyone else to replace her and so he has persuaded her to stay. Judas Murray is happy for her to stay as well as it deflects any critiscm from him.

There seems to have been too many lies, economy with the truth and deliberate disinformation.
Apart from the regular cock-ups and inefficiencies, surely senor staff wouldn't conceal anything from RD?
