Uncle Roland! What a coward!

  • I think she'd be getting a lot more stick, especially from the press, if it was known she got the job because he Dad was good pals with Roland. I have no idea if the rumour is accurate but I wouldn't write it off because Katrein said it's not true.

Please can we calm down and stop insulting each other. We don't have to agree with one another, but there's no point at all in having digs and pops at people we disagree with.

Serious question to @C4FC4L1f3 , what do you think the mods should have done? Personally, I think it's up to everyone to take a bit of responsibility for their own posts rather than expecting others to manage things for them. If we went around deleting every post that was off-topic Charlton Life wouldn't have half the energy it does. I recognise that it must get annoying if people are continually taking the Mickey about Belgium. My honest advice to you would be not to rise to it. I think those who post such things are for more likely to continue if they see they're getting a reaction.
  • I think taking the protests into Belgium is the only way we will get Roland out.

I would think everyone would consider Roland's residences, his businesses and business interests fair game for legitimate disruption

In terms of intimidatory or actual violence, destruction of property etc, I'm pretty sure there must be a target or two that most if not all fans would support even if they hated the fact it was illegal.

  • The story has been told on here somewhere about how Katrien met Roland. It had nothing to do with her father. She sent him an email about something and to her amazement he replied and wanted to meet her.

I bet he did! "Dirty old man"! (Arrold!).

So the story was that she was a Sint Truiden Fan and applied for a job but there are cracks in that? if she was a "successful lawyer" why bother? she then said she wanted to help with legal stuff, but we heard from Sint Truiden fans that her father and Roland were close, this raised eyebrows! we then saw photos of them together at football matches and stuff all mates shaking hands smiling drinking etc... etc... so we done some more digging and it seems that they knew each other before Katrien was at Sint Truiden.

The whole story starts unraveling - so we thought lets add him to the mix. we also had a backup plan that if her mum answered the door we would just say oh sorry i think i have the wrong house, I'm looking for an English couple that came to this neighborhood blah blah blah.

Basically it is such a small place where she lives and where her parents live that everyone knows everything. also in Sint Truiden they are all so friendly and everyone knows all about the inner workings of the Club. I guess if you own a restaurant/Bar across from the stadium then you get to hear a lot of stuff.

Also in the stadium the staff are all very open and dont like the owner either. They openly call him the snake and stuff.

I think that's why I'm so passionate about our work in Belgium and harp on a lot about it. i really see it as the quickest way for them to say "fuck this I'm done"
I know a lot of people thought the pres went over the line and all that, but honestly that's what is needed to get these people to leave, all of us agree we will be peaceful and legal but if it has to get personal then so be it!

I will tell you this as well there has been several excellent ideas floating around regarding ways to target them legally and they have all been scrapped since the reaction from our fans. the last thing we want is to upset them.

The problem we have now is we dont know what is acceptable and what isn't, and we cant ask openly on the forum because that defeats the point.

So i dont know where the Belgian protest can go from here.

A suggestion. Private message 10-20 people on here, that you know are sensible and will also keep schtum.

I'm happy to be one of them and could suggest other names if required.
  • We all know he is a coward. A pathetic coward. He doesn't dare come to a game, but if we were premiership bound we would see a lot more of him.

I agree. We can get rid of Katrien here but it doesn't touch Roland in this country unfortunately. Last time he was shown up in Belgium we got that statement.

Errrrr, no thanks. TBH, you've been party to the planning for both trips to Belgium , and you have neither 1) Wanted to be part of the trips, nor 2) provided any ideas.

We need people who are committed not time-wasters.

I never said I wanted to be part of the trips nor did I suggest I was willing to provide any ideas.

You approached me and I politely declined, wishing you good luck.

    My exact words were -

"Thanks for the invite & good luck if you go ahead, but it's not for me."

    Please check this for yourself.

I have no idea how you could accuse me of wasting your time.

If someone cold calls me and I say no thank-you, it's surely not me that is wasting the callers time ?

I think perhaps you have mistaken me for someone else, as I had no knowledge of the second trip, until you posted details on here.

I was simply offering assistance to your statement that "we dont know what is acceptable and what isn't and we cant ask openly on the forum". I now regret trying to help.

    Best of luck anyway.

I thought the concern here was whether it was acceptable because you already had the ideas.
Now you're saying you need ideas?

Why should he get involved? He has his businesses to run. He gave Charlton to Miere as her toy so it is her way as far as he is concerned until she has had enough.

Always thought the network model was Rolands? So surely he has always been involved! Katrien is just a puppet running part of his experiment for him. Do you really think she is completely autonomous?

Really don't know why she'd need to lie about such a thing. Friend of her fathers, or met him after an email exchange? I know she's not renowned for truth telling, but can't see why she'd bother to lie about this matter.
Could it be that she's a compulsive liar?
Well that's the problem with liars, even if they are telling the truth, you can't trust them. I just can't see what she'd gain by making up such a story. If she really wanted to lie she could have said that Roland saw her giving one of her superb presentations and was so impressed he decided there and then to employ her. Where does the "friend of her fathers" rumour come from anyway?
One of her superb presentations? Have you ever seen one of her superb presentations? Have you seen the presentations rolled out to Charlton supporters?

No worries. I just couldn't see the motive in her lying about this matter. However having read the above explanation, I'm more inclined to believe the father thing now.
  • I think that the quicker we can get some people over to Belgium to actually find Roland and tell him what we think the better, otherwise we will be starting the season with a team of academy players then we sure will do a Blackpool.

I should have, it would have been a breather on the pig of a walk from the ferry.

Do you have any anti-Duchatelet t-shirts?

I may be getting you mixed up with whoever else who had some in The Oak?

  • Time for me to voice my opinion here.

Background is that I am totally against anything illegal in our protests. I am also PC enough to think we shouldn't sing sexist songs or songs that tell a certain nationality to get out of our club.

I had absolutely no problem with anyone politely knocking on KM's parents' door to calmly explain how people feel about her role in the mess at our club. I have no problem with us making this personal in order to affect change. It IS personal. Charlton runs through many of us in such a deep way that extreme, but legal, measures are justified and required.

I don't like the thought of good ideas about how to ramp up pressure in Belgium going to waste due to people speaking up against such actions while I silently support them.

    Nails it for me.
