  • I think people have got their head in the clouds if they think Adkins would come to us let alone Steve Clarke. Even if they came for an interview what do you think they'd make of Katrien Meire? The only manager who will accept such a CEO will be one from a lower division.

We will not get anyone who's managed above League Two. Therefore we will end up with some Belgian plank again.

Nigel Adkins doesn't inspire me much, for reasons of the league we are now in and "a manager on the rise", I would have preferred Wilder, but....

Nigel Adkins - 2 promotions with Southampton from this league to the premiership.
He has a track of record of at least doing something majorly right. You don't achieve that if you've got nothing about you.

Players and managers are the same though in terms of "form"

    As krusty quotes:
one day your the most important person that ever lived, next thing you know your some schmo working in a box factory

I don't believe in quoting yourself but...

Who was that great genius manager that was doing well at Colchester...then went Norwich, won league one, then won promotion from the championship, to the premier league, then secured safety for Norwich in the premier league.

    Ah yes, paul lambert.

Now he's just some schmo working in a box factory.

My point being? There is no point, it's just funny how one day a manager is seen as the best thing since slice bread....a few years later they are yesterday's news.

Mourinho will be yesterday's news soon and it only took a season.

The most amazing premier league season there ever has been has tarnished the reputation of one of the greatest ever managers.

Adkins was a highly regarded manager, then it just kind of crumbled.

That's why I respect big sam. Since his Bolton glory days, he's always managed to still get premier league jobs and maintain that level, as a minimum.

Agree completely, I really like big Sam and have total respect for him as a manager. I'm trying to imagine a conversation between him and KM when she tells him he does not have total control over transfers. I'd. Imagine his reply would be along the lines of with all due respect you can take your job and stick it.
As for Adkins and Clarke both are decent fits, one blip in a managerial club doesn't mean your a poor manager. I'd prefer Adkins because of his record at this level, but will either put up with KMs and the Douche's crap.

Won't be. He won't commit long term
Off to Blackburn .... But will only commit to one season
Shame nobody will commit to us.

I agree we won't be savvy enough to consider him but not committing long term could be seen as an positive by RD.

  • the basis of crime solving (someone famous once said) was eliminate every suspect it cant be and the one left has to be the criminal---or something along those lines.

Seems to me we are following this path re our next manager:
    * Eliminate the good ones--they wouldnt come to us
    * Eliminate the ones that might by ignoring them
    * Eliminate the ones which want full control
    * Eliminate the ones that want more than £50 a week and some mussels and frits

and there we have it ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- its some nobody in Hungry ----process of elimination---our NEXT Alex Furguson
  • I suppose much of this ultimately rests with just how serious a contender Adkins is or was. He seems to have emerged as favourite without any real substance behind it.
