I am sorry but no Chris Powell. I would like to see a British Head of Recruitment, British Chief Scout, a new British Coach and more recruitment of British players.

We're soon to be in league 1 and the playing squad will need a complete overhaul when RD and the liar have gone, but you're against the idea of bringing in the man who lead us out of League 1 with a record points total having overseen a complete overhaul of the playing squad?! Odd, odd, odd.
Anyway, let us pray that we can soon be having meaningful arguments about whether our new gaffer should be Chris Powell or Billy Davies or Garry Monk, rather than wondering whether we're getting Jan Van Der Turdman from the Antwerp & District Sunday League, or Gusztav Shitov from the 9th Division in Hungary.
Id certainly get Powelly back for next season....unite the fans, a Charlton man, previous knowledge on what it takes to get us out of League 1....but that's all fantasy like the 38 Million.
If Elliott's consortium take control then I can see that happening.
Don't understand those that don't want CP back, on a shoestring budget essentially (well what turned into be a shoestring budget) he got us up from League One comfortably, and surviving the Championship comfortably, then we struggled - now look at how we are doing WITH investment. Someone who cares for the Club and fans is what we need. I understand his tactics can look negative and sometimes he looks void of a plan B, but what do you expect from a new manager? People forget where he got us in the FA Cup also, for a Club that struggle in the first round we are entered in, that was some run.

Not just a new manager, one with a small budget. We signed Church and Sordell days before his final season started. As I've said before, think what he could have done with the £9m KM said they've spent on players.
There is nothing in RD's history which would suggest that he knows how to lift a club up to the level of the Championship from League One. He is much more likely to underestimate what is needed at every level, spending, wages, management experience.
When this shoe string approach fails he would most likely cut the club's cloth just to stay in league One and 'break even' to prove his brilliant business sense. Tiny crowds, tiny revenue, tiny wages= dropping further.
He has to be driven out by all legal means available.

Would not unite fans , no to Powell you need someone who can take us up and be successful in the championship , already proved at two clubs that not Powell
Has it? I've seen him take us up and get us to a top half of the table finish, then have all funding swept from beneath him along with rights to assign scouts and push the board to sign players.
Personally I don't want a head of recruitment, just a decent manager that can pick his own players. Call me old fashioned but how can you really judge somebody's performance if they have another person'so donkeys foisted on them.

Not sure I want him back but this statement is just wrong.

It would unite the vast majority of fans. Powell proved he can be successful in the Championship, we came 9th in our first season back with very little investment. Any new owner would want to cash in on the good feeling of finally getting rid of Roland by appointing a manager that would have people feeling that we've got our Charlton back, and there is no one who would do that more more than Powell. He has a lot to learn obviously, just like any manager, but the reason there are so few people at the Valley these days isn't simply because we're shit, it's because people can't relate to the club. If we're shit with honest staff and players, that we can relate to and understand. What the current owners have turned us into is not what we think of when we think of Charlton. It's the protests that are now our link to the club we know.
Chris is one of our own, he's looking to build a career in management, he's respected by every single person who worked with him at the club, and he knows what Charlton is about.

That's got to go down as one of the strangest posts Colin's ever made. And that's up against some pretty stiff competition!

Chris Powell LITERALLY did that.
Yes but he's no Bob Peeters is he...
Don't forget we get Marc Wilmots after the Euro's Rich ... :-)
Powell back in with Dyer as assistant. JJ's last playing season with the club, Kermo comes back and ends the season on a record goal tally, BWP comes back from America along with Lloyd Sam, we finish the season on 102 points beating our own record, JJ and Kermo slot into coaching roles with the club, Lookman finishes 17/18 as leading scorer in the championship as we march to the premier league with the championship title under CP who finishes what he started all those years ago.

Colin, just an observation, but he got us promoted and won the league in the process and the masterminded a 9th place finish the next season - on a shoestring budget
Anyway, any sign on Marc Wilmots pacing the streets of Regent Street looking for you?

Please, please, please let it be Powell, with Jackson as asst manager and Solly as captain.
Not because I want them, but it will piss all over your chips (all 14 of them)
I think one of Roland's first mistakes- of many - but a biggy was not giving Powell an honest chance to show what he can do with backing. Consistency is important. Something we have seen far to little of. Seeing as I think we do currently have a manager who should be capable at our new level, I'd back him and see what he can do!

I agree. I think if CP had been here at the start of the year things would be different now. It was the not playing standard rejects thing that got CP sacked but that's a different story now. We know how well he can operate within a budget and maybe things would have worked out for RD and for us. But also maybe RDs budget was too tight and CP would have walked.
while it would be marvellous to get rid of RD and his SMT for a "better" owner it could completely muck up the club in the short term. It is only 3 months to the new season and it will be very difficult to conclude a deal in that period, in the meantime what does RD do whilkst he haggles, my guess is sell as many assets (that is players) as possible and not replace them sp we will begin next season in a very poor state and with the revised loan system not much chance of improving things if the sale is not completed before the window clo
I think I'd probably take all that Lancs if it means ousting Roly and co. I'm not sure it can get much worse - personally I'd take a couple of seasons in L1 if it means we become a Football Club again - rather than the laughable circus we are at the moment.
Think I would rather struggle with new owners than prosper under the current ones. It's gone beyond hate for me, and I'd actually feel quite resentful if the clowns somehow turned it around and and made us half decent.

Out of interest, did you not think a funded Chris Powell was pretty good at his job?

Nahhhh He only got 101 points in 1 season.
