Charlton Life Towers went into carnival mood that afternoon as I cracked open the pommagne and @StubleyAddick and @ForeverAddickted finally got let out the Preview room cellar for long overdue haircuts :-)
Thought it was a scene from Honey I Shrunk the Kids at first.

Charlton's relegation from the Championship was all but confirmed on 13 April change for 9th they found themselves 12 10 points from safety with four five games remaining.
With a vastly inferior goal difference and with the two teams directly above them (Southampton Rotherham and Nottingham Forest Yep them) still having to play each other, it was effectively an impossible task for Charlton to avoid relegation.
The following game saw Charlton's relegation to League One become a reality after a 2–2 draw against Blackpool. Derby this bit doesn't yet work, give it another game, we'll be 12 adrift etc.
In fact didn't we play Derby in a cracker that season 08/09 that we lost 1-0 and the Derby fans decided to give it the large? It was as I remember a CLIT visit to their place.
Really am surprised that Sheffield United managed to mess it up that season... they were by far the second best team in the League that season (they battered us at the Valley yet couldnt break through), yet they've never been the same since
I think it's the nature of the division. You have to take your chance when it comes, because it doesn't come that often. Languishing around the mid-bottom half of the Championship isn't so bad. But doing it in League One season after season must suck the life out of every fan.
I really hope we somehow manage a quick return to the Championship, but it's going to be a tough ask to bounce back immediately with this lot in charge. I fear for what is to come.
Epic day that will stay long in the memory, I went with Jimmy Stones dad Pete West and a photographer mate who took this shot at a service station, one of my favourites and hangs on the wall at home, football is about father and son time for me, I remember speaking to @Swerve and his lad George on the way back, a proper day
In the interests of balance the glory season that was the promotion from L1 was in our THIRD season there. I remember the dark days of David Mooney, Akpo Sodje, Pawel Abbott, Nicky Forster etc

It wasn't all glorious pre RD :-(
I would have the days of Mooney & Abbot back over Roland like that, we had no money our team was poor but it was Charlton trying to be the best team we could, that is all I want from my club.
We will never have the spirit, togetherness ,leadership and management under these clowns. So to answer the original question, no we will never see this again until the regime has gone IMHO.

Agreed. We have had relegations before and we will have them again. None have been so avoidable as this one.
I coulddeal with it if it still felt like proper Charlton. A team of try hards who maybe through bad luck or lack of money were going down. Not because of poor decisions mismanagement and a lack of effort. That's what hurts.
If the club was all pulling together in a collective effort to avoid the drop but couldn't quite manage it then that would be sad but you know the club will always rise again. This time I'm not so sure this will happen.
Four years ago today, my heart was working correctly, I was sitting with @TCE in The Covered End not really bothering with the game but taking in the atmosphere of a packed and joyous Valley. The post game speeches, CP emotional again, the presenting of the Trophy, just a fantastic day all round, even the weather. Oh to have those days back again, sadly I cant see that happening under this megalomaniac despot regime!! Perhaps if, next Monday, I can get my heart working correctly again, then these good times will come back....yep I betting myself that if I get better so will CAFC....a 61 yr old man betting against himself.....thanks RD you've mad me as looney as you are!!
Carlisle away was the best day I've had following Charlton as an adult. My old time favourite CAFC team+manager. Everything about it seemed perfect for us

All of Chris Powell's work has been undone by the twats in charge. Please piss off!

Pretty sad to see how things were now; unbelievable the amount of damage Roland has made.

But the money dried up and the next 3-4 years are history...
That was a brilliant day. Seems so long ago now.
