From what I've read, he posts about a horse death, gets abuse from people who don't agree he should post about horse deaths and then retaliates. He has done what he was asked by avoiding the main race meet betting thread so doesn't deserve abuse. Just let him do his thing and avoid his threads.

I too posted on a similar thread a while back( probably this time last year) stating my abhorrence of this "famous" race and others like it. Cheltenham definitely fits that profile. And, like today, my views were greeted with derision.
Before I'm accused of singling out steeplechasing as being cruel to horses, you only have to look at my Facebook page to see that I sign & share umpteen petitions each week in an effort to bring Government attention ( both here and overseas) to animal cruelty in our world.
I also donate monthly to the RSPCA & Dogs' Trust and support Battersea Cats & Dogs Home, SPANA ( yes, horses' welfare) and adopt a donkey from the Sanctuary in Sidmouth each year for our grandkids.
OK - a very minor way of supporting those innocent creatures who do not have a voice of their own. But these are the charities I care about & I put my money where my mouth is.
Please don't patronise me by trying to justify the so called sport that most of you seem hell bent on supporting - nothing will alter my view. And I have every right to hold it and express it here .
Enjoy watching this annual "festival" tomorrow if that's your bag...some of us will be at Loftus Road or on our way home.
Please don't expect those many animal lovers in our midst to whoop & cheer with you as your horse romps past the finishing post.
But consider whether you will feel a pang of remorse should tragedy befall your chosen nag ....or whether you will merely feel that's life .

Anna-Kissed stayed off the sport of kings thread and made a separate one, and it is the same this time, there is a Grand National thread and this one. I participated in the Cheltenham one, and learned stuff I wasn't aware of about horse injuries, I also involved myself in the discussion as to whether horses actually liked what they were obliged to do. The previous discussion was by and large interesting, and it is as appropriate as having two threads about the horse racing meetings, and two threads about horse deaths. To abuse Anna_Kissed, as he has been on this thread, is to avoid any developed discussion and to personalize things. There is a certain fascination to be had from reading Peanuts Molloy's reasoning about how to choose a horse, but on those threads Anna_Kissed does not come on with personal abuse, which seems to be the (previously?) unstated but agreed position. It looks to me like once folk sniff out they're in a majority in an argument it almost becomes carte blance to bully the minority rather than to discuss, which is a great shame. The discussion on the Cheltenham thread at least made me better informed, although it barely shifted my overall viewpoint, and it was nice to have such a discussion without personal abuse.

To clarify, PM, my comments concern the posters who have told AK to " feck off " and call him a WUM , NOT their views. Hence, I repeated the much used phrase of respecting others' opinions.

I suggest you re-read your first post Fanny. It reeks of judgmentalism. You know absolutely nothing about the totality of my views. Does this mean that only those opposed to horse racing donate to animal charities ? I love horse racing, have co-owned a horse and attend races regularly. Oh, I also donate to an equine charity in deepest Sussex. From villain to hero eh.

I find these threads interesting as it is a subject i don't know much about.
For 177 years this race has been ran and there has been 80 deaths.so that means that a lot lot lot more have have come through unscathed.The owners know the risks of their horses when they put them in the national.i for one will continue to have a little flutter on the national and will as long as its ran.long live one of the greatest sporting highlights of the year the Grand National.
