Didn't think I would get my own thread! There were actually 4 stages to this. First step was asking me to cover up my CARD sweatshirt with a jacket by the CACT guy who runs it and the Greenwich UNi lady who organised the video. I did this as I didn't want to take away the main aim of the presentation too much; and these requests were polite as well. Then this official got involved as we were going onto the pitch. It would appear this was Lisa Squires. Firstly the zip on my jacket wasn't done up high enough and a little bit of the shirt showed. Then there was the badge incident. Basically told I was not going onto the pitch with "that on", It wasn't a polite request but was in the new CAFC customer relations approach of a rude order. There was a clear implication that if I didn't take it off I would be blocked from entering the pitch. Finally as we walking across I was told I had to return my scarf before I could continue. This was the most bizarre request as it was a red white black scarf bought from the official club shop a few years ago!
The "orders" were clearly from somebody under stress and just again showed to me how much they are rattled when these minor incidents get them worked up.
Perhaps I should have stood my ground more but it didn't seem appropriate in the circumstances
You probably did the right thing, but it makes a mockery of the statement Mel Baroni drafted after the Boro game (although RD's had already done that). If the club is genuinely saddened then they would accept that until they've made their changes people will outwardly protest. To try to force fans to hide their opinions will only make protesters all the more determined to be visible.
It's own goal after own goal sadly, and the product of senior leadership utterly out of their depth.
More evidence that despite all claims to the contrary, they are completely rattled and at a loss how to cope. They are now just confrontational with little attempt to engage (as if they ever did)

Without taking away from the main debate about something that sounds completely daft to me, a minor point of correction. I don't think the woman you talked about is from UoG. The only UoG people were the two guys who made the short film (sadly not shown on big screen today due to some technical problems around the Valley.) If it is the person I think it is, she is from CACT. Was it the person who asked the questions for the filming? If so, definitely works for CACT.

I am a bit confused, they wanted you to 'return' a scarf that they had sold to you? Did they offer to buy it back?
Hi Seth, to clarify, it is an official scarf that was bought a few years ago from the club shop! Red and white stripes one side, black and white the other (handy as a protest one) as we have often played in either colour! Absurd, as it even has the club badge on it. I gather she took it whilst they went on the pitch or he couldn't take part! Got it back at the end. Pathetic sign of hysteria and panic from the club it seems to me.

Lunatics well and truly in control of Asylum Valley. Youre a better man than me mate Id have had a barney with them.
Getting fed up of these club employees going out of their way to hinder any form of free speech. We have seen all week the club saying on the emails they want to rebuild trust, how is this nonsense heloping.
I get people have jobs but taking a badge off someone that is no more than an inch wide, would any of their bosses noticed?
A mate of mine's 10 year son was recently chosen to take a penalty at half time. As he made his way to the pitch a club employee told him to take his black and white scarf off him or he could not take part.
While many on this site quite rightly highlight and delight in any official photos with RD out/card badges stickers on show, the club are going to try its best for it not to happen and sometimes get it wrong. Its a sad state of affairs, not unbelievable pettiness, but inevitable while this lot are in charge.

We could cause complete confusion by changing the protest colours to red and white. Then, following orders, the stewards probably wouldn't even allow the players on the pitch.

Everyone should now realise that we are now in a real fight (war?). In this fight we will use every opportunity to embarrass the regime. You have the expect them to try and counter this by not giving us easy opportunities to do so. You can't really expect them to give us ANY opportunity to secure a media victory would you?
I think we're in the trenches and this type of action will continue. We will still win in the end.

Sorry, to me it is still unbelievable pettiness, it's a badge, no more than 3 cm wide, it's not as if you would be able to see what it says in the photograph is it? Seems pretty petty to me.....
I often find these little intimate Drama's compelling.
In a short space of time we have a man told to remove a little badge, a scarf purchased in the club shop temporarily imprisoned, and hear of a child unable to take part in a penalty shoot out wearing a black and white scarf. I really wish all these encounters were on video.
We have the Data Techniques repression also.
I was criticised previously for saying that the use of children waving flags was a new phenomena, and cynical exploitation, yet it is. It is indeed similar to those Nuremberg rallies in that controlled flag waving respect, but also rather perverted and creepy.
If the club employees think it is all so wholesome, and family friendly, why try to impose a dress code on people, especially little children? In this vortex of club employee paranoia, those employees ought to have a bit of a look in the mirror, and think about how they are as exploited and controlled as they are controlling . However, people will often do anything for money.

You can add being videoed at the Training Ground, being locked out of our own ground and the bloke in the club shop to the list

Doesn't anyone at Charlton know how to work photoshop?

Don't give them ideas! We'll being seeing pictures of full stadiums with everyone in red and white scarves all over the OS

To clarify there were 2 women. The first asked me to cover up the CARD sweatshirt, fairly politely. I thought she was UoG but may be CACT. The second woman was a cub official and much more officious, who it now turns out was Lisa Squires. She was the one re the badge take off and the scarf. I suspect her attitude and manner were due to the pressure she has from above rather than her personally. They are so pathetic and desperate. We are winning and need to drive it home. I can confirm I got the scarf back.
The club really are in full North Korean mode now, they have simply lost it(if they ever had it in the first place).
I suspect the protests being taken inside the Valley making it impossible to ignore is what has pushed them over the edge in to the level of petty actions that we have seen in the last month, they really are cracking, the revolution is being won.
I am expecting the Derby pre match entertainment to be either five random black and white scarf wearing fans to be publicly flogged as a lesson to us all or maybe some sort of military parade. ;-)

I suspect you are mistaken on that one. It's very much in character.
In any event, stopping a Charlton fan from wearing a Charlton scarf, purchased in the Charlton shop, in order to avoid embarrassing Charlton, is pretty crass
