Darren Bent has three years left on his contract and so there is no need for us to sell him.
However the new Sky/Setanta deal kicks in and the Premiership teams are going to be seriously cash rich. I see a lot of stuff in the papers about Torres, Villa etc coming, but with players from overseas there is always a what if factor...for example Shevchenko and Ballack have been expensive failures, Darren Bent though has been a success in the Premiership.
Let's wait for the bidding war to begin, if needs be keep him until the January window when a struggling team will offer an even higher price.
Not sure about whether Harewood or Mullins got new deals but I would not be surprised to see the likes of Fulham and Reading sniffing round them before we get a crack, especially Harewood who scored a few goals for the Spammers last year which is always going to attract interest.
There were a lot of rumors about Mullins in January and it does not look like Curbs fancies him so he would have to be a possibility and I would not rule out Konch either as he looks about as welcome in a Curbs team as George Bush would be at the Regents Park Mosque.
I'll be sick if he goes to Wham. Feels likely though - he wouldn't even have to move, then again, Blackwall tunnel every day wouldn't be fun. Liverpool or Man U would be best for his career, obviously...
Hopefully he's sensible enough (which I think he is) to be extremely wary of Chelski's wads of cash, and will look at what happened to Parker whilst he was there and bear that in mind when making any decision.
I wouldn't rule out any of the top 4 coming in for him and if I was Dazza I would only consider them plus Spurs and Newcastle - because he is not the sort to chop and change clubs. If none come in with the right offer just yet he could wait until January (not ideal for us perhaps). From a footballing perspective I don't see the point for him going to West Ham, Villa, Man City etc. - that said West Ham would mean he doesn't have to relocate etc. , and Spurs he would not be first choice if Berbatov stays.
There might be an argument that Bent staying with us this year let alone next, has prevented him moving to a top club, and because of this loyalty has forfeited a regular England spot (so far anyway).
not one person has considered the fact that the agent might be spouting shite about there already being interest in order to make other clubs panic and dive in, thus driving up his own commission on the deal.
i'm not saying it's not likely that he'll be off, just that we shouldn't all jump to conclusions... his agent is a right flash nob anyway - you have to ask yourself why exactly he would contact the radio for an interview if he wasn't going on to drum up publicity.
it might be old fashioned and that but i would love for him to do a lisbie.....no, not promise a lot early on and then turn out to be crap year in year out, no to reach a testimonial at charlton would do me. if he gets one i'll be there. sorry kevin, but you're just not in the same league/sport.

why would he want to go to west ham...he knows from experience he'll only end up playing 4-5-1 there...what fcking good is that to a striker ?

Hopefully for silly money and Gardner.
