The Viva Las Vegas rockabilly weekender is currently in full swing. 20 years this year, over 20'000 partying rockabillies and 50's enthusiasts. My mate Tom is the promotor and the city have declared today officially as "Tom Ingram" day - probably just to annoy Oh_Yoni_Boy...

What @JohnBoyUK said. Fremont street is a must. Stayed in the New York New York last October. It's a bit less salubrious than some of the other strip hotels like the Venetian or Caesar's but it's fine. Buffet breakfast in the Luxor is about 30 bucks and you can eat enough for a week. You walk from NYNY through the hotel next door with the Disney castle and come out in the Luxor casino.

I have a trip to Vegas a week on Saturday for work, have Saturday evening, Sunday and and sunday night as nobby no mates, before work starts with collegues arriving on Monday, any suggestions for places to go in the evenings? dont really want to cane all my money on the first 2 evenings sitting in front of a slot, so advice on bars to go to? Staying in New York New York, thinking Sunday day time for shopping and shooting range somewhere. thanks for any advice.

Done exactly the same before. Went on a helicopter tour of the grand canyon during the day, would recommend that to anyone

This is all really helpful, cheers all. Doing Vegas in November for my 50th / youngest son's 21st. Staying in NYNY.

Went back in 2008 when I was still 'serving'. Exercise with the Americans at Creech then stayed in North Vegas in The Cannerby. Decent place but a bit far out from the strip. Went down there a couple of times though but yet to stay in a hotel there. I recall thinking NYNY was really good (pianos and roller coaster), that's why I booked it for the visit in November.

Interesting read but LV has never been on my bucket list although the trip to/over the Grand Canyon is.

To make the shopping a bit more bearable - if you have a hire car - I would recommend a drive to Laughlin. Its only about an hour away and has (or used to - been a while since I've been) a good Outlet Mall with big names like Ralph Lauren all at great prices. Not a bad drive and Laughlin has a good range of casinos with better payout percentages than LV - if you want a crafty gamble. Its right on the river too which also makes a change. Edit - just checked and the Outlet Mall is still there.

My wife would need convincing of that - this is where she's likely to want to shop :(

I stupidly told her about it, but as it's next door to the Aria she would have found it anyway!!

Maybe just Starbucks - Tod English Pub is pretty pricey!! Great burgers though.

But it won't work - my missus can smell a designer label from half a mile!

good luck, the shops in crystals are some of the priciest I've seen, even the starbucks.

another good outlet option is Primm on the CA border, just 30 minutes drive on the I15 (the highway running through Vegas)south. I was there this morning, it is massive and has a few casinos, plenty of food and a rollercoaster to keep you occupied while she shops

My wife isn't a shopper. She'd have to wait outside checking her phone while I went seconds and thirds on the rollercoaster

I know about the prices in Crystals. Whenever I go I always take the missus back a pressie - she likes handbags!! That's usually the last minute of the trip and Crystals is right next door to the Aria. I've never seen a price on any item, you have to ask - and when you get up off the floor it's too late, they are wrapping it!! The danger this visit is that she's there this time and will be wandering around with my mates wife while we're all playing poker.

THE Viva Las Vegas weekender should be a good 'un this year. Jerry Lee Lewis, Duane Eddy and, reformed-for-the-occasion, The Stray Cats all play the car show.

I shall be in Vegas at end of March for 5 days, to celebrate mine & others 50th birthdays.

We've booked Grand Canyon helicopter tour, Golden Knights v The Wild (NHL), gun range and zip wire ride down Fremont St. Plan on going to Sin City & Banger brewery bars. Possibly Wet Republic pool party!

Any other suggestions please? 5 fellas going leaving wives at home!

do the zip wire at night. and as that's on your list you'll probably like jumping off the top of the stratosphere. the high roller is good and you can get a cabin with an open bar

    1. Hooters

    2. indoor gun range. Something like $60 to shoot 4 different pistols + revolver. It's about a 10 mins taxi ride from the McDonald's.

Can't remember what it's actually called. All I know is, the lady behind the desk has a lot of tattooes.

If you want to do that kind of thing, you should be able to find it 👍

Im going March 18th for a week, Monday - Monday, Monday - Thursday with one of my mates, then my cousin and 7 others turn up for cousins stag! Cant wait, although my mate isn't on the stag which is annoying but he has done vegas on his own. When do you go? Where are you staying? ( I have stayed Excalibur twice , this time will be MGM park resort)

I know we are going downtown on the zip line, looking to do a nightclub tour / with drinks, Top Golf - Make sure you do downtown one day, i didn't do it the first time and 2nd time on the last day which we regretted as its alot more lively and a good experience even just walking up and down through casinos.

Will be the 3rd time ive been (went last year too) although other 2 times mainly just gamble and drink non stop, so probably not the best person for advice. I done a ride on the top of stratosphere that was good.

Agree Hooters food is lovely, also the women aren't so bad :)

We did Absinthe last year, great show think it was around $100 but well worth it and a mixture of everything. Although not for the PC brigade , you wont be dissapointed
