I watched tonight as the two mascots prepared before the game and when leading the team out. Before the game as the players warmed up the mascots were playing jumpers for goal posts with the bald fella. Then once they led the team on and shook hands they ran straight to the bald bloke and stood on centre circle waiting for photos. Cousins barely aknowledged either of them in the centre circle, and they were both led off the pitch before the toss. I think when I was mascot they let me call it. Things have certainly changed. And for £300 it's a complete rip off and I think the players and captain should hold some responsibility.
In the club's defence the membership that is, from memory £10, does come with some branded gifts.
At the end of the day (ignoring the fact that we don't like the owner) the club is being run at a massive loss and the players don't seem to want to play for less than hundreds of thousands of pounds a year so the club has to maximise revenues. The simple fact that there is demand enough for several mascots to be involved in each game would suggest that it is cost effective to charge what we do. If a player like cousins is not interested in the young fans (based on how long he's been here) when he is Skipper for the game then I suspect that needs to be written off as part of the 'good old days' when players were like the fans rather than having cars worth more than our houses.
Just received a call from Charlton asking if my son will be renewing, not until we have new owners. Expect lots of calls today for this and season ticket renewals. They must think they've hired the League One Guardiola or something.
Had some cracking times there with my son. The Powell team were awesome some great lads, Danny Green, Pritch, Danny Haynes all friendly with the kids. Last one I went to was when Peeters was in charge and apart from the few lads left from before the atmosphere was definitely different. Ben Haim didn't even look up and it was all a bit disappointing. Shame if it's not on as the current squad would I imagine be great with the kids. Son isn't a member anymore.
Around 2002 I remember my son going to the Junior Reds xmas party. Took all his player photos with him and got them all signed..he was so chuffed. Then, at the end of the party he put his photo album down on the chair and in an instant someone nicked it.
I contacted the lady who ran it and she gave him a pennant signed by the squad.
I've tweeted both the club and ticket office without reply, I think they are struggling to find a date due to tomorrow's replay and the Millwall match next week, can only realistically be next Thursday or Friday

They told me on phone that it was this coming Sunday 12 -3, sadly my Grandson can't make it as we now have something on that day, if only they had sent the letter in the first place we could have made other arrangements.
They must have made it young reds only this year then, it's not been advertised anywhere like it normally is, he didn't renew membership this year as the Christmas party is all he really enjoys and we thought we would just pay the extra couple of pounds for the ticket. Seems like kids are being punished for not renewing their young reds memberships!!!!!

Not so sure my Grandson is in the scheme but didn't get anything.
I'm hoping someone who runs junior reds reads this. My nephew sadly is a junior lion or what ever they are called and a junior red, at 7 years old at millwall they get presented a free replica shirt pitchside. As much as I hate them this is a nice touch and great for the kids. Hopefully we can look into doing something similar. I have 2 kids both are season ticket holders and both junior reds and have been since the day they were born. Giving them a £35 replica shirt is nothing compared to what I pay out but what a great idea. Hopefully someone is reading this and takes it on board.
Yeah it all needs to go back to basics when there were no gimics. Back to Junior Reds not junior addicks. Junior Reds away coach, Saturday mornings down the waterfront entertaining the opposition juniors. We have lost our way and family feeling. So much So that all I see is Millwall in the community. Even being a mascot at Charlton now has lost the personal touch. They don't even kick the ball around with captain just an old bald bloke with a limp and jumpers for goal posts. Hopefully they have addressed all this in the close season and the start was making all kids season ticket holders automatic juniors.

Mate you have nailed it my boys enjoyed the best of the old Junior reds, my Grandchildren now have young reds, which isn't a patch on what used to be provided.
When did we introduce the Junior Reds? My brother and I were members in the Selhurst days, my brother is now in his 50s. There must be older former Junior Reds out there.

They are leaving it late if they are doing something or is this another cut back.

Remember the the away coach trips..happy times.
