I will never understand people who will slag off players that clearly care about our club. I was sat near those mindless idiots who took every opportunity to slag him off last week. It was absolutely disgraceful some of what was being said and what makes it worse is that you know full well that these people have and will again in the future said exactly the same about nick Pope. Stephen Henderson is one of the only players in this squad who I can honestly say has given his all for the club the last two years, yes his performances on occasion have been poor and maybe he needs dropping temporarily, but a Stephen Henderson on form, like he was much of last season, is one of the best keepers in this league
Not sure about that but he's defo cost us a few goals in recent weeks so not a bad thing this dead leg
Should have recovered by Tues so interesting to see what Riga does
Without the benefit of seeing it again but for me despite the non existent marking Pope should have got a fist/caught the Brentford goal. Seemed like it was in 6 yard box and similar to what Hendo has been criticised for.
Igor etc will come back when we are down and buried --- for themselves---they will want to be in the shop window----sutprised Igor got his Mrs pregnant as he ain't got any bollox
He's been in her box more times then ours this season
Seems strange if he wasn't injured. He's better than Pope. And I have more respect for him than the rest of the squad due to him being the only player bothered to clap the fans against Fulham a few weeks back.
Louis Mendez @LouisMend 1m1 minute ago Hounslow, England Hendo was out with a dead leg according to Riga #cafc
Does he play Tuesday if recovered? Can't change a winning team according to the old adage, looking forward to your preview already .
Hmmm as one of my regular followers you should already know the answer to that question
Yeah but them pills might have a side effect . I'm gonna stick my neck out and say Pope continues in between the sticks, unchanged team injuries permitting, failing which of the one we know about Poyet for Diarra.

Although it seems to be in the six yard box that is clearly not how we are defending corners so can't blame him imho
Very similar to Fulhams second in which Hendo got pelters for. His starting position from the corner should have been more central and not as near to the front post. Saying that I like Pope and think he can still go on to be a very good goalkeeper, it was also his superb one on one which lead to corner so not attaching too much blame to him.
I can say without doubt when I think of all the games I have seen Hendo play for us he hasn't had one bad game. And I seem to remember a small fact that when we went on that abysmal 3 month winless run last year it coincided with Hendo being out injured for the same period. Saying he is not good enough for Charltonj, in my opinion, is utter bollocks.
I can say without doubt when I think of all the games I have seen Hendo play for us he hasn't had one bad game.
Then I can safely assume you've missed several games this season! He is a great goalkeeper no doubt but all players hit patches of poor form and recently that did include him.

You'd have to be GiGi Buffon to come out smelling of roses each week in this team.

Perhaps so. But however bad the defence before him is, there has been only one man responsible for Henderson's perpetual dawdling and indecisiveness with the ball and only one who has then promptly booted the ball directly into touch so high and hard Makienok couldn't hope to catch it with a jet pack and a large net. And that person is Henderson.
I rate him highly, overall. But he's been very poor recently and that's a shame.
Lots of goals put past him this season mostly not to blame but it's got to dent your confidence as a keeper no matter how strong you are mentally.
I've been disappointed with his distribution this season because last season it was one of the major positives over him playing rather than Pope. That and looking like he is going to take a high ball rather than punching it to an attacjer which was a feature of popes games while Hendo was out last season
Henderson has not performed to his best this season but I would challenge any keeper to have done so with Russian roulette approach to the central defender combinations he has had to work with this season, remembering;
a) this is a team game where you get to work/ play regularly to develop an understanding b) the number of games each central defender has actually recently played (say 2014/15 season) in the Championship as a central defender.
The roll call: Bauer (0) - Diarra (3) - Johnson (14) - Lennon (0) - Sarr (0) - Texeira (0) - Williams (1)
In his 22 appearances this season Henderson has played behind 11 different combinations with the combination for the next match changing 12 times. The longest run of games as a unit was with Lennon & Texeira for 6 games. He has twice had a central defender sent off.
NB.: (You wonder why we cannot defend corners at this level)
Such chaos takes its toll. I suggest for one moment you put yourself in his position.
He missed the first 15 games of the season.
You know going into every game the back four in front of you has struggled from day one.
You know we only have one creative threat, you know as fast you put the ball into play it will come back even faster, you know planned or otherwise it is very likely we will concede possession and territory for the majority of the game and consequently your defence will be under the cosh.
The reason he delays the game is to quite simply to get his defenders an extra 20 seconds of less pressure, to get those few more yards up the field, to reset the team shape. He is slowing the pace of the game largely to help the side manage the game. 90% of the time with Jackson and/or Diarra injured he is the one leader on the pitch. More often than not he has no other option.
I used to know a coach in preseason training when he was setting the shape of the team where each player was positioned to a set format insisted on the goalkeeper NOT releasing the ball until everybody was in the right place. It was you as the outfield player who got the "b*****king", usually with a 10 "press up" penalty, for delaying the game by not dropping into the right space and right support framework quickly enough.
Henderson is a very decent keeper and a very good professional. He is a leader (as he showed at Huddersfield). He will know his injury record is a concern and he has not been at the top of his game. I hope he gets to bounce back as quickly as he can.
I respect Popes' natural ability but at this stage, in this relegation battle Henderson with his experience and leadership will be very important.

Only missed 1 home game, the league cup vs Dagenham & Rdbridge. Not been to any away games yet.
IMHO Hendo far better than Pope, but Hendo lost his mojo this season, but then who wouldn't with some of the prats playing in front of him, Johnson and Sarr come immidiately to mind neither worthy of a Championship side.
To be perfectly frank a rest of a few games may do him good, think he will be off in the summer whatever happens.
Was not injured was not dropped .... the club to explain later ... Last week he had a few run ins with the fans behind him in lower north and looked really pissed off with what was being said , wonder if that is behind it ??

From my view their guy was offside leading to the corner.
Anybody who has been a goalkeeper at any level of football, professional or not, will know how demoralising it can be when you are conceding goals every week - whether they are your own fault or not.
Truly the loneliest place on the pitch at times. Your confidence can free fall even if you're doing nothing wrong. Doesn't surprise me that Henderson's form has dropped.
Still a very good goalkeeper and I'll be over the moon if he stays with us in League One.
I reckon, go with me on this, his poor distribution or more specifically, his time wasting when he has the ball, is because that's the only time opposition can't threaten our goal.

It makes a player.
Without it, it breaks him.
